Mattel Disney Pixar CARS Diecast: (Movie Scene) Launchers – DOA?

It looks like the movie scene launchers are DOA … well, DOBA – Dead on Before Arrival …

They are no longer “on the list.”

They might not be DEAD, DEAD – they might return in 2013 but as of now, not on the list, presumed gone?

Original description – “Peer in to see a specific scene from the movie involving that character, then launch the vehicle to recreate the action.”

Original post of the presumed “first wave.”

If you can deal with all plastic, Disney Store has a playset with a more accurate (canon) rendering of the camera currently selling at $9.99.

However, it’s firmly attached to the base Acer rests on. The base could be surgically cut to separate Acer from the camera. I guess it would depend on how badly you wanted the camera. The scale appears to be slightly smaller than 1/55.

Good. Maybe they will focus on the main line instead of making new spinoffs that don’t sell.

All I wanted was the camera 🙂

I imagine these were canned because the regular launchers weren’t moving well. Too bad, these looked cool…

They should have just packaged regular launchers and these launchers completely separate from any Cars characters. I love seeing Lewis Hamilton launchers, but $11.99 or more for a Car? I don’t think so!

These sounded cool. Be nice if they did make then later on.

More Mattel logic… The original launchers haven’t sold as much as we expected, so these launchers aren’t going to sell…

Never mind that the reason the original ones haven’t sold as many is more due to the original case assortments and the price… I was only planning on buying ones of these that contained unreleased Cars.

If Mattel wants to increase Cars sales, they’ll release more of the more affordable diecast Cars – singles (including Rip) and Deluxe… with gas at $4 per gallon and going up, the more expensive items are too expensive to be impulse buys… Bringing back unreleased Cars items and Toons items might also increase sales… Many of us who frequent this site would buy Team Crew sets and haulers.
