My dad still has his 8-track player with a turntable hooked up in his basement. Tons of old LPs and cartridges. It still works too.
There was always the catch: Buy one tape now and agree to buy “as few as 12 tapes during the next two years”.
I only knew one person who ever signed up for one of these offers, but at least he was a satisfied customer.
It’s getting to the point now where MP3s are quickly becoming the replacement for CDs, just as cassettes quickly took the place of 8 tracks all those years ago.
What are CDs?
Report on CDs…. via bank: essentially worthless. via record shop: essentially worthless. On the other hand, Apple Car futures are UP.
What is a record shop?

Cool.
Jethro Tull and Black Sabbath. Far out, man.
I used to have a couple of these…Bread, I think and Neil Diamond. My friends mom had an old El Camino with an 8 track in it and she would drive us in it.
Before there were 8-tracks there were 4-tracks. Same exterior package but would only play the complete “A” side or “B” side of an album. The “tracks” thing refers to “A” side (left and right tracks) plus “B” side (left and right tracks) total FOUR tracks. Then as technology trudged forward, they werre able to stack twice as many tracks on the 1/4″ width of the tape and split the selections on each side of the LP giving “8-tracks”. So the original players were 4-track as well. 4-track tapes were able to be played on later 8-track players, but if you wanted to be able to play all eitht tracks, you had to have an 8-track player.
I’d buy the Alice Cooper, Black Sabbath, and the Jimi Hendrix tapes.
Carpenters all the way, baby!
The Carpenters were awesome!
Cool! Actually, the fine print uses the term “cartridge” – lol. I have memories of listening to CCR on 8-track. The player had a built-in disco ball!
Before my time. š
Those old nostalgic album covers are pretty cool too.
Neat!
