Mattel Disney Pixar CARS 2: Quick Changers Quick Card Change

Apparently there was an all-hands meeting – much back room politicking, caucus barn burnings and bridge building votes and the verdict is in … the diecut is out.

New card on left – old card on right.

So, if you’re keeping track, we lost the bulge, the trim and the angle in so they save a little on diecut labor … a couple pennies? Now after they print the card, it does not have to go to a designed diecut to trim off the edges … so the CARS Group can go back to the big shrimp at the celebrations. 🙂

Thanks for the pics and noticing “John H!”

Its still die-cut. Its probably a packing issue. Or maybe they stay nicer on the shelf?, or they use the same tooling/die for another product. That way they can keep the same set up when they switch.

I thought the ‘change’ was about McQueen’s eyes being switched on the back of the card.

I have the first 4 singles and the first 2 “Deluxe Size”… I think I’m done with these… New diecast Cars, Mattel… not yet another variation of something we’ve already got.

I think the Metallic Paint Cars and the Lights and Sounds Cars are my favorite Cars2 products so far.

I guess the added shipping weight is still cheaper than the diecut process?
