Mattel Disney Pixar Diecast CARS: CARS Shopping in the Magic Kingdom

Lo and behold, they have CARS for sale at the DisneyWorld.

MamaCollector sends us some nice pics …

shelf

MamaCollector also notes: Mickey and Minnie mini were easy to find at the 4 parks for 26.95.  However, the duo can be purchased at the WDW mail order 407-363-6299 (sku #40012776198).

Disney uses their own SKU which does not match the UPC … all the other things you see on the shelf are available at the Disney Stores or were available at your local toy stores (like giant Dinoco Heli).

She also notes they have Retread was available for $11.95 and all the over produced cars were available for a whopping $6.95 each.”

Um, her words, not mine 🙂

Though Retread at $11.95 is only a few dollars more than Target/WM who are $9.99? Been a while so I’m not certain but percentage wise, is definitely not twice the current singles pricing.

The box on the top left is a Disney Store singles line – the Disney 1:50 to 1:64 scale series … seemingly varies by the humidity 🙂

retread

Maybe you can order Retread by phone at the same time? Here is Re-Tread’s UPC’s – not sure if it’s useful since it’s not Disney Resorts SKU – 0-27084-71736-5.

And of course, MamaCollector also notes, “The Move It! Shake it! party parade at the Magic Kingdom was great along with the new Buzz ride at Hollywood Studios.”

ka-chow

Her son wearing the proper shirt 🙂

And as I was cleaning out my email folders, ran across a photo that fits here … um, sorry, you’ll have to claim your cute kids from way back as I lost your name … don’t worry, they ride to monorail to school everyday and only two servings of funnel cake a day 🙂

visit

Thanks for the pics and info, MamaCollector!

Will do. I’ll be there for 10 days, so hopefully I’ll get lucky!

I’ll be heading down to Orlando next week – which park and/or store is my best bet for finding newer cars (Re-tread, in particular)?

    • mamacollector says:

In Magic Kingdom, the Emporium Complex, on the left as you walk down the main street. Also, they seemed to get new stock frequently. So, if you’re there for 4-5 days make sure you check more than once. Let me know what you find.

After a week of finding nothing at Disney, we hit the jackpot on our last day – Retread and Elvis were at Disney Hollywood Studios (formerly Disney MGM Studios). I also hit a Walmart while I was down there, and found the Chick Hicks and Mia and Tia set, and found some harder to find Minis at a local gift shop. All and all, a pretty good trip!

I looked very close at the transporter at Disney. The Cars are plasticy (is that a word). Anyway, Mater caught my eye because his paint job is different. He is in the bottom row, second from the left.

On my receipt, the sku for Retread is 40012772893. Also, Elvis was easy to find at WDW, sku 40012765545, cost $9.95. However, I don’t know if the sku is specific to Retread and Elvis or if WDW uses the sku for all launchers and oversized.

Its Called a Mac transporter and its available on E-bay I think with Bumper Save and some others or loose.

  • Screamin' Banshee says:

    What is that Mack called?

    • TowMater69 says:

Is that the Disney Store Mac? I believe the cars are a different scale than the standard line.

(MET: Yes, Disney store “smaller” diecasts are 1:64 but in reality, vary from about 1:64 to 1:50 🙂 ).

  • Mr. T says:

Saw the Mack thing at Disneyland – no sign of launchers though….. Also saw the LMcQ and Sally with ears for 21.95

  • Jun says:

What is that Mack with a display trailer? Is it only sold in disneyworld?

  • John in Missouri says:

These prices probably equalize the “Free Birthday Visit” Disney World promotion!

Very nice and surprised that they even have the new stuff there, but 6.95 for a single Yikes. I was hoping to make it down to Orlando this year, but I think it may have to wait one more year. Great pics and info now just to start planning my trip with the kids for next year.
