eToys.com Now Part of ToysRUs

eToys was one of the more notable dotcom launches way back when …

Company was garnering sales but they went big time in spending to build up the website so they couldn’t quite make enough money to sustain themselves.

The website name (eToys.com) was scooped up by KB Toys who continued to run kbtoys.com along with eToys.com … it was odd as the kbtoys.com & eToys.com websites were the EXACT same websites but the name at the top was different depending on which url you used in your browser.

Of course, KB Toys & KBToys.com declared their last bankruptcy and closed recently.

One of its few assets was eToys.com which was just sold to Toys R Us.

“Toy retailer Toys ‘R’ Us Inc. on Thursday said it acquired online toy seller eToys.com from parent The Parent Co., which filed for bankruptcy protection in December.

Financial terms were undisclosed. The deal also includes Web sites BabyUniverse.com, an e-commerce site, and ePregnancy.com, a parenting-resource Web site.

Privately held Toys ‘R’ Us, which currently operates Toysrus.com and Babiesrus.com, said the deal allows it to Web portfolio through three established Web sites.

The acquired Web sites will continue to operate under their own names.”

So, um, I hope eToys.com doesn’t take down it’s THIRD toy retail owner 🙁

Thanks for the heads up, Jeaks …
