Mattel Disney Pixar Diecast CARS: The “Good Old” Days Are Back

Sometimes history repeats itself … or is it more like the ghost town thing where tumbleweeds roll across Main Street?

Look Color Changers and Blimps! Plus I’m guessing some Semi Cab megasize?

Look someone almost bought one – then realized it was not 2008 anymore?

But of course, there might be a problem with inventory control at this store …

A few aisles over …

Were the megasize ever $9.44?

Look, someone carried over the single sized Al Oft and realized – for .08 more, they can get one with twice as much plastic. SCORE! DEAL! well, maybe SCORE in all lower case – score!

That’s a falotta blimps.

BTW, this store is in Arkansas. No wonder WM is not ordering that many CARS.

Thanks for the nice pics, “Josh F.”

didnt someone on here have a whole pile of them? Looks like they returned them

Wish I could find that darn Facing Up barney with the New Snipe

    • Indykjt says:

Cars Cares acquired them a while back with the wonderful help of an awesome TFAD member… and we still have a whole pile of ’em! One makes it into everey care package that goes out!

They were on clearance and obtained for about 80 cents a piece if I remember correctly… 180 of them! So, if these should drop that low, (or any other Cars for that matter), Cars Cares would be interested in picking them up for the program!

    • Lorri says:

I remember that. I think it was Samuel, or maybe it was Pirate Dad who paid like $10 each for a whole boat load of them.

  • Monica says:

Ugh! Met, no fair with the teaser title! I thought you had some kind of big good news to share.

I have been seeing more of the last few cases of Final Slaps on the pegs at Target, though none of the latest case yet. Seems like they are maybe sorting out the distribution issues? I hope so.

  • Mike H says:

It’s all part of the big marketing for PIXAr’s upcoming short: John Lasseter realized that the real star of his film was AL Oft.

  • Daniel says:

$9.44 was the regular price in Canada.

WM Canada no longer carries mega-sized, nor Toons.

  • danrio says:

Besides their Headquarters, WalMart has 2 Distribution centers in or around Bentonville, Arkansas. Maybe THEY’RE cleaning house! At any rate, it’s a bit worse than my WalMart in California where they clearanced out a couple of dozen of the “new” Wally Haulers plus a few octane Gains and other stragglers over a month ago for $5 and now have the entire hauler line marked as “inactive” on their inventory. I think they’re about to do the same on the “CarsToons” singles.

  • buckland-blowouts says:

Toronto Walmart looks the same! $5 for blimps!

  • kdthomas says:

BTW, to the person who keeps buying the Viynl Toupee haulers and leaving behind Shifty Drug can you please leave just one behind? Pretty please?

  • kdthomas says:

Wow…these are going to sit there for a very long time. My store one day all of a sudden had 20 and that’s how I got my first Al Oft. I was so excited until the next time I went back…and the next time…and then…yeah these clogged the pegs for 6 months.

  • Flarf says:

Thanks for the much needed laugh!

  • cac1959 says:

1 if by land, 2 if by sea, 3 if by blimp…

It’s always nice to see any of the original WM8 in a store… even if it is the blimp floating away at $4.92 plus tax….

There’s actually a dual Cars book featuring Al Oft as the featured character in one of the stories… I picked 3 of the books up at a Borders store for $5 each… my granddaughter loved them. Al Oft actually has a personality…
