Mattel Disney Pixar CARS: Precision Series Flo’s V8 Cafe Unbox, Part 1
Precision Series Flo’s V8 Cafe will light your heart (and warm your cockles).
It’s a HUGE and nice classy box.
There is a TRY ME for Flo’s herself and at the top to light up Flo’s V8 Cafe.
While the flaps are glued down – it seems to open pretty smoothly. It’s locked down with tabs which are easy to re-lock if you so choose to place it back in the case.
There are 4 road pieces (not shown) that clip on to each side.
One of the nicest feature EVER is that you can buy an optional AC Adapter. FINALLY! The problem with all battery powered playsets is that you’re always replacing batteries or having to keep track of when you installed them so they don’t leak and damage the components but now, finally, a playset that takes an AC adapter! Thanks Mattel & Disney!
It has a sensor but it’s NOT a motion sensor but a light sensor. So, if you set it to “sensor” mode, it lights up when it’s dark enough like your MacBook’s keyboard. Obviously a battery drain but perfect for AC Adapter mode. The other two modes are ON and OFF.

In the various production team commentaries on the Blu-Ray, they state they studied actual sizes of small towns similar to Radiator Springs on the real route 66. The general finding was the main street was usually about a half mile long.
In the 1:55 scale used by Mattel, therefore, the town with scale sized playsets would be 48 feet long. It’s called “selective compression” in the model railroad world, where you make stuff so obviously large fit by modeling the feel and flavor of the place rather than the actual size of the place.
And yes, they are toys first; but it would have been so nice to have the four piston arms per canopy. I assume they re-used the original tooling design from the old Flo’s playset as a starting point for the new Precision Series one.
I picked up Filmores hippy pad and I think it was worth the price point but the thing with the original in-store Flos V-8 Café is that it has a V-4 canopies and not 8. For a 100.00+ I was excited thinking, finally this will certainly be to scale. Nope! I find no reason to pick this one up when it looks no better than the 30.00 version. This bug anyone else?

My complaint too! Met, in the movie Flo’s V8 Cafe looks like a V8 engine. However, the “Imprecision” Series features a V4 look. Not a good start to the line, Pixar!
(MET: Ah … apparently made for people like me … got 8 pistons, must be a V8 …).
