We’re Not Watsui, We’re Americans – We Love Toys!
From FrugalDad.com, a fun infographic of the worldwide toy industry (including how we’re only 4% of the kids kids but we buy 40% of the world’s toys … we don’t wanna grow up. And you can’t make us! 🙂 ).

I find it intriguing that movie franchise toy sales surpass their respective movie ticket sales.
(MET: CARS (everything not just Mattel) has pretty sold at least $1 Billion of merchandise every year since 2007 so that’s more than $5 billion compared to CARS theater-DVD sales of maybe $500 million?).
movies, you see once, if that. toys… you must “collect them all”.
Very cool. And yes, I’m another that blows that $280 figure out the water.
i see furby in the graphics. is furby still around?!
Just think if Mattel and Hasbro raised prices a little and gave all the proceeds to world hunger relief.
And my wife would say a good amount of those toys are in my Cars cave… I mean our family room.
I am sure that my toy budget is above the $280 figure… when you factor in that I will buy toys for my grandchildren on occasion, it’s definitely higher…
Based on the amount of LEGO we have I think our toy budget is slightly higher than $280 per child. Very interesting article!
Amazing stats.
