Mattel Disney Pixar CARS 2 Diecast: Kmart CARS Day 8 Preview, Part 1

Of course, the next Kmart CARS Day is #7 (October 15th or 22nd?) – you can find an early checklist in this post HERE. Day #7 is the remainder 7 World Cup racers that look like the singles releases except with the addition of rubber tires …

The Kmart CARS Day #8 (June 2012) will feature “Double Ransburg Zamak Paint” World Cup racers … unclear if they will be rubber tires but these prototypes look nice … these prototypes look like Non-rubber tires … for what that’s worth.

Carla Veloso.

Francesco Bernoulli.

Jeff Gorvette.

This is Part 1 of the preview … Part II is here.

Plus, I still give kmart props for holding the event. My daughter and I (and toddler twins soon) look forward to every one. I thought for sure all the leftovers from recent events would have given them reason to cancel. Thank goodness they are still going since its the only cars occasion we have to look forward to. As long as its not a case of lentys we will be there.
And crew chiefs. Please. I appreciate kmarts cars efforts but I don’t need to be going there every week.

  • Tom says:

    Dear Mr. Kmart,
Not to be pushy, but WHAT IS UP WITH THE CREW CHIEFS?!?
    Come on now!

    Direct from Kmart Rep:

#7 will be on Saturday, October 22. #8 does not have a planned date yet. As I told you and Barbara both before, #8 is not necessarily going to be the Double Ransberg paint editions shown at Comic Con. That is not yet finalized.

From a different email I received from the head buyer at Kmart:

Yes I was referring to silver painted cars – I have not determined whether these will be for a collector event or whether these will be exclusive offering sold as a separate item from Cars Diecast Vehicles. I know what Mattel put out for a sign but it has not yet been finalized. If you saw Mattel’s original sign, these were marked as a Collector Event item for 2011. Mattel jumped the gun on this as we do not finalize Kmart 2012 items until late September/early October. Thanks.

I’ve been to all the Kmart cars days but I will skip this one, why would anyone want a silver version of the same cars? Were they silver in part of the movie i missed? with all the different cars they could come out with, this is disappointing to say the least!! And where are the Kmart 2 packs (besides the ones on ebay)??

  • Wraukn says:

I am a little bummed about the rehash of the same cars over and over. I’ve had no trouble finding all the C2 cars that have been released so far. I have a feeling C2 will die out fast and they will then focus on Toon and unreleased C1 cars. If they don’t, I believe interest will drop rather quickly.

  • NascarFan says:

As usual I will be doing an “Overseas Kmart Day #7 and #8 Buyers List” if anyone wants on those lists.

These really are kind of ugly. But I’m sure once I show them to my son, he will want them. Stuff that is silver or chrome is usually pretty cool. Sounds like they will be the same price as all the other K-Mart cars so no reason not to go get them.

  • bobbyjack says:

My son will be 4 when these come out, but he will not want them. This may be the first Kmart day we skip since we started going. Rip Clutchgonski would need to make an appearance for us to attend.

  • BMW says:

Hot Wheels Zamak diecasts have a following, lots of enthusiasts who collect these.
Motorama Picnic Mcqueen certainly sold well on the aftermarket.

BUT just who is in charge of Disney Pixar Cars at Mattel?

Its beginning to look like the Hot Wheels Division of Mattel is in charge of Disney Pixar Cars again. This seems to me to be a Hot Wheels gimmick.

Bring Martin Back! We need Martin! He understood Disney Cars Collectors.
New Castings please we are not Hot Wheels collectors, with rehashed repaints over and over again. What is wrong at Mattel that they do not understand anymore?
Super Treasure Hunts or whatever they call the new Super Chase cars. its not for us.

  • cac1959 says:

I’m still not sure what I think of these… I’ve been to every Kmart event and bought more than I should have… I see that happening again in October… I’d like to see rubber tired versions of the cameo racers… the Super Chase just doesn’t appeal to me.

Is there life outside of the world of Cars?

  • TrboTrex says:

Ok I love these. I much prefer these over the rubber tires. It makes them special just by looking at them.
I don’t think we will see Rip..ever. There is a bit of a controversy involving a New Zealand supercar producer. I know that little kids (my son included) don’t understand, but it will be a miracle if we ever see him in die cast.

For some reason, those cars conjure images of Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla in my head.

  • John in Missouri says:

I hope Kmart Day 7 surprises us with a rubber tire version of Rip Clutchgoneski. I cannot believe they’d make us all wait to Kmart Day 8, especially if these silver cars indeed happen.

  • corinne says:

awsome , can’t wait for these cars !!

  • Bumper Save says:

I will buy them all. 🙂

  • D J says:

Better than the silver games and puzzle cars, by far!

  • Jack says:

Talk about non canon. These are some ugly cars to me. Kmart day 8= pass unless they through in some new normal cars. This gimmick of same car different finish is not for us.

  • oliversmom says:

Love Carla and Jeff and Shu

    Very berry nice!

  • slicepie says:

FIRST! Haven’t done that in awhile 8)
