Mattel Disney CARS 2 Diecast: Kmart Cars Day 7 & 8 Early Checklist

Some of you may have spotted the “double ransburg zamak paint” metallic racers scheduled for Kmart Cars #8 in June 2012 displayed at San Diego Comic Con …

As far I know, these will be rubber tire CARS also …

What do you think?

These are NOT the CARS in Kmart Day #7 coming THIS October, 2011 … this October will be the remainder of the CARS 2 World Cup Grand Prix racers (minus Rip Clutchgoneski …)

What do you think?

You in? Out?

Buying 1? Buying a bunch?

You like the double ransburg zamak paint?

What a disappointment. My son and I “collect” these and the fun for us is getting new cars, not the 1000th repeat of LMQ. My son still wants more pittys and haulers from Cars. I mean don’t they see the tons of LMQ already languishing on the pegs?? We already have two Jeffs (TRU Metallic Finish). I see two cars I need (sad to say I broke down and bought a Miguel Launcher). I went to a K-Mart a few weeks ago and there were still tons of Day 6 on the pegs.

  • my6kids says:

I think these are really cool and will be in high demand, I will be picking up a few extras

  • tjschatter says:

Saw these silver cars at comic con. They are really really nice looking. I will be buying a bunch. I wish they were coming first.

  • Dinocoblue says:

UGLY! WIll not be getting the silver set, the 2011 set… is totally awesome though. Will be getting the set. 🙂

Do you not have the shopping area report anymore. I loved that you could find out where new cars were and in which stores. What happened?

  • Bumper Save says:

Day 7, I will be in if I don’t have the cars yet, but if I do, I won’t go buying just the rubber tire variant. Day 8, YES! I’m gonna buy ’em all, sadly for my money, but hey, they’re shiny. 🙂

  • Kmart and Mattel: would you please leave the CARS die-cast franchise to some one who might know how to handle this?
I will probably not even bother–especially for Day 8– d**** chills.
    er..what huh?…oh yeah…OUT!

  • Tom says:

Yawn and yawn. New Cars please…
The only appeal of the silver Cars is, well, they’re silver.

  • If anyone over seas is wanting cases I will be doing online buying cases for overseas people who cannot get them

  • TheCaptain says:

i’ve seen this metallic style in the 1:24 nascar series. never got one but they are pretty cool. we will attend all future kmart days, no matter what they have to offer (ok, not if it is a case of lentys) but i dream of the day when we have a case like the good ol’ days. ie: #2 = no lentys, a few racers and a few new cars (including todd, probably my all time fav).

  • quercy says:

Why bother to fill “KMART whish list survey” if they come up with something nobody requested??? Since Day #9 will be dedicated to the second half of racers (not including Rip Cluthgoneski of course) It means you can only dream for “different” cars on day #10 in october 2012… If Kmart still alive! 😉

  • PicksOurCars says:

I think they’re cool looking. My son likes anything he doesn’t have so I’m definitely in. I must admit though, I’d rather see new characters altogether but as horrible as Kmart is I’m sure it’s the only deal they could strike with exclusive rights. Maybe Mattel worries they won’t be around long enough to warrant the creation of new molds – or more likely, Kmart couldn’t afford it and the only way to get exclusive cars was to reuse casts and just modify the paint scheme. Either way I’ll still get them. Kind of like how I still walk into WalMart stores even though I swear every time I will never go back.

    • bobbyjack says:

They need to take one of those NitroAid molds, white paint, silver decals that look like round fruit, and some rubber tires and make everybody happy this fall.

      • John in Missouri says:

Even without saying the actual word itself, your description above just enraged Apple’s team of copyright lawyers, and they are now watching your every move. 😆

  • oliversmom says:

hey, have a question… tru listed metallic carla … is that it?
first- metallic carla, then metallic carla rubber tyres kmart day 8???

    • bobbyjack says:

I would rather have Carla with Metallic finish than Jeff or Nigel. I still think she looks the coolest out of the WGP cars.

      • Fillmore1234 says:

I totally agree Bobbyjack. Carla and Raoul are my 2 favorites from the movie. I am definetly buying an entire Case of these K-Mart exclusives. I just wish Rip Clutchgoneski would come out. Is he not going to because of Copyright reasons from the people who invented the word ‘gone’? Or how about due to the makers of skis?

  • PirateDad says:

I find it funny to read how many are in for #7 and out for #8….seems to me that the same people were griping that #6 sucked…so why bother with #7? For the same reason you will go to #8…Mattel has you by the lugnuts, you want them all….NAY, you NEEEEDDDD them all!

I am in… I like them, they are shiny and shiny things make me 😀

    • Eric says:

Amen and Amen… complain all you want, you will be there and you will be spending money people. haha

I think the silver Cars are a cool touch. Maybe they could have gone with some exclusive henchcars/lemons from the movie for Day 8, but these are still cool.

  • corinne says:

Maybe we will be able to finally get LEWIS HAMILTON (launcher) in the metallic silver like they show on the TRU website .I was very dissapointed when I found out he did not look like the picture when I recieved mine !!

  • firefox91 says:

I will get my son any of the racers he doesn’t already have in some form on Day 7. We don’t get the variations of rubber tires, non-rubber tires, moving eyes, etc. We just get 1 of that character version and move on. However Day 8 is a significant enough change that we will get all of those. I am sure my son will love those silver cars.

  • BMW says:

I am in. I have a custom chrome polished Sally. Its hard to tell from these pictures how good (or bad) the silver cars will be.
But Carla in Silver looks good. Will look nice along with the motorama Zamac Mcqueen as well.

    • John in Missouri says:

Yeah but Sally and McQueen were diecast metal — aren’t these diecast plastic?

(MET: These are diecast metal but they can make it slightly thicker than alumnium foil and maintaining its form so metal in the thinnest possible sense … ).

      • BMW says:

Haven’t opened any except for a Gorvette, I don’t think these can be polished like Cars 1 Cars. Maybe some one who has some protos could show exactly how much plastic are in them.

I weighed Gorvette and then a Cars 1 (Thailand) Boost.
        Gorvette 1.2 ounces
        Boost 2.1 ounces.

  • csc73 says:

I guess Mattel got a good price on silver paint. I’ll have to pass on those, but I do like the TRU metallic paint cars, just wish they could release them a little quicker

  • DJ says:

Wow, you guys i understand where youre coming from but come on, These are sweet! Im IN!

  • cac1959 says:

I definitely see myself buying the Kmart 7 rubber tire racers… I believe that I like Cars as much as anyone on TakeFiveADay, but I’m not sure about the Kmart 8 Cars… I didn’t like a lot of the Minis from Cars because they weren’t actually in the movie.

I like rubber tire racers… I really like Ransburg (metallic) paint Cars… these pictures of the Kmart 8 Cars have me thinking that these Cars aren’t for me.

Is it asking too much for new Cars? I wish Martin were back in charge of the Cars design team.

  • quercy says:

I knew it! I knew the silver thing will be the signature in line 2. When I have seen the puzzle with Mater silver wheels, Raoul Caroule with silver stripe and Silver Frenzy McQueen, that was pretty clear for me this will happened… So, who will collect all the silver items? Believe me in a year or two these “silver” cars will be priced up on ebay for sure…

  • NC says:

Kmart Day 8 is lame. Kmart Day 7 i will buy.

  • Mike Manifold says:

That’s a great point about Hot Wheels being a totally different market. Jr. and I will definitely be going to day#7 for one or two of each, but we will not be buying any of the #8 cars. As many of you have already said, we will save the cash for new characters. We’d definitely go to #8 and buy a whole box of 24 if it contained something worthwhile and actually featured in the movie, like 12 of Rip Clutchgoneski and 12 of Otis the lemon.

  • Dodger says:

I dont like them…they look “unfinished” to me.
I want cars that I have seen in the movies…come on Mattel!!

  • slicepie says:

This is absolute crap! Seriously, if we wanted the Cars line to go the way of Hot Wheels we would’ve been collecting Hot Wheels in the first place!

Sure, we put up with Chase cars being the equivalent of a Treasure Hunt, but nobody cares about re-paints and ‘supposed’ 1st to Market cars. All we want is NEW CARS! And no, we don’t want Super Treasure Hunts, or Super Chases; whatever they’re going to be called.

Listen up Mattel, get the Hot Wheels geeks off the Cars line and put somebody in there who can spark some creativity. Nobody wants Hot Wheels with eyes!

    • John in Missouri says:

Maybe we’ll get Color Changers for Kmart Day #9.

(MET: Day #9 is pretty much set, it’s the remainder of the racers in silver metallic).

      • bobbyjack says:

Has anyone noticed if the Cars 2 color changers work better than the original ones. Mine only worked for about 2 months before they stayed one color permanently. My son loves to play with them still but I refuse to get any of the new ones because the “gimmick” was only temporary.

    • GotFrank says:

      Nail on the head!!!

  • Justin-Case says:

    Where is Lewis Hamilton??????????????

    (MET: Whoops, sorry – fixed).

  • dikenlitel says:

I probably will buy metallic ones but I don’t like them. Kmart 7 is good.

  • madbob says:

So they have already missed these then, not a good start. Those metallic versions look cheap and nasty…

    Rip Clutch
    Lewis Hamilton
Spain (scene at the launch party)
Mexico (scene at the launch party)
Australia / Frosty (scene at the launch party)
Russia (scene at the launch party)
Germany (scene at the launch party)
    Apple from Cars 1

Mattel are really loosing the plot here!

    • Fillmore1234 says:

You mean Memo Rojas Jr (Mexican), Vitaly Petrov (Russian), Max Schnell (German), Frosty Winterbottom (Austrailian), Fernando Alonso (Spanish), and Flash Nilsson (Swedish)? Mattel is probably already making these because they are all the same bodies as Max Schnell exept for Fernando Alonso. Fernando is the same body of Miguel Camino.

  • John says:

    Day 7 – Lewis Hamilton?

  • John says:

    Ugly and uninteresting, no thanks.

  • materrocks says:

    Thornton, CO
I think Kmart 8 cars look cheap-I don’t know if this is cars I would want. I go along with getting Kmart 7, just to get the other racers with rubber tires, but again, is Mattel going to give us other characters from the movie or just different versions of the same cars? Shame on you, Mattel. Fool us once–but not always–we will give up collecting, if we can not have something new. You are just wanting to line your pockets with the green stuff.

  • Outlawbak says:

At this point, since I am tired of the repeat games, and box sets that remind me of baseball card packs, I’ll only get one CAR from 7 and totally undecided on 8. Just fancy repeats not cannon to the film, but do have a “cool” factor. I’ll decide after I see the paint jobs on the 7 CARS.

  • Brown Fury says:

Will be going to 7 for Max (unless I happen to find him as a single in the meantime) and will be skipping 8 altogether. Bring on Rip Clutchgoneski!

  • Kevin W says:

So, technically speaking, the front plastic piece is not “clear coated” but “silver painted plastic”?

  • hostile takeover banker says:

Call it what you want but Mattel clearly knows these will all still sell. Sure, I don’t like the selection but I will still be buying it. That is what collect them all is about and Mattel knows they can make such poor releases and the collectors will still buy them regardless, particularly at ‘collectors’ days like these. It’s almost like Mattel could released damaged cars and people would still buy them!

  • taylor says:

Poor selection, If they dont know we like NEW cars by now what hope for the future?

  • John in Missouri says:

Talk about Summer Repeats, sheesh!!! Give us Rip and Apple!

  • TrboTrex says:

Of course it’s a gimmick to sell you more of the same Cars, that is Mattel’s job. I for one am excited about Day 8, it is sooo much better than just stupid rubber tires. At least when you look at these you can tell they are special, like the Rainsburg paint job chase cars. I’m glad to see them thinking outside the box.

    • madbob says:

No problem in thinking outside the box, just cover all the ones that haven’t been released first before starting to get all creative!

    • quercy says:

The only reason they are able to “think outside the box” is because the box is so tiny. I do not call this “thinking outside the box” I call this “Reuse and maximize the molds”. Pixar have used close to a thousand different characters in CARS 2. The only reason they do not give new cars every week is pretty much because the cost of different molds…

  • jestrjef says:

Um … hmmmm …. I am not quite sure what to say about Day 8 … but it sure seems like they are stretching it here …. Day 7 will be a go, though …. very interesting ….

  • bobbyjack says:

I will get the remaining racers from Kmart day 7 to have nice ones to leave in the package, but I don’t know about the silver ones yet. Think we would rather focus on other characters instead of buying varients right now.

  • corinne says:

kmart 7 BITES , BUT KMART 8 IS AWSOME !!!

  • Jack says:

Well since you asked: I think it’s just another gimmick to sell us the same cars in a different way. Doesn’t make too much sense to give a metallic finish to Cars with so much plastic content either.
Believe I will be sitting these next Kmart days out for the first time. No new cars= I am not bothering.

  • Micky says:

As much as I dislike Kmart, as long as they have these events, I’m in.

Probably 2-3 of each. Depending on case assortment, I might just get the whole case.
