Mattel Disney Pixar Diecast CARS: TRU Cube

Apparently there are two versions of the TRU Cube …

Only the Top Tier-Shelf is different.

Otherwise, it’s

Bottom-6th Row – Deluxe (Oversized) Mater Tall Tales Wrestling

5th Row – Lenticular 3-Packs

4th Row – Lenticular 3-Packs

3rd Row – MTT Singles

2nd Row – MTT Singles

1st Row – MTT Singles (Case H)

OR in the case here …

1st Row – Lenticulars

Since this has been pretty much picked through, I cannot say if any CHASE CARS are on it or in it.

So, they are exactly the same except some stores got the Toon CASE H and some get the lenticulars on the top row.

Thanks LCC-20 for the heads up.

Had a cube at the TRU in Sugar Land, TX. It had plenty of all 4 of the monster trucks (Frightening, Tormentor, Dr. Feelbad ,and Rasta guy), plenty of Kabuto’s, Kabuto Ninja’s, Ito San’s, Cho, Kamodo, Dr. Mater with the Mask up, Chase Fred’s, Elvis RV, and even a Frank.

Wish I could have bought it all, but we just left with a Kabuto ninja, Kamodo, and Tormentor . ..

this was out at our TRU here in Utah, I was so hoping to find a Bessie, but no such luck 🙁 There were a few Chase Fred’s with the fallen bumper. And Zach did get his 4 Monster Trucks, so he was pretty excited!

  • zoomzoom says:

Have 2 TRU no Bessies found Calif. must been to late but got 4 Monster Trucks

  • I wish that was at my local TRU. That way I can get the 1:55 monster trucks.

  • BigMOCats says:

Did anyone actually pull a Bessie from a cube and it they did, how many were there?????

  • Altan says:

TRU left Turkey with all its cubes about 4 years ago. Sigh !!!

  • Crazy Cars says:

I went to two TRU in Ohio, and nothing 🙁 neither store manager knew what I was talking about. Both said it could be a corp.thing.
That is what TRU must tell there managers to say, because both had the same answer.

    • por356 says:

Keep the faith! I checked my local TRU on Friday and they did not know anything. On a hunch I went back Saturday evening and there was the Cube in all it’s glory. Just be prepared to take out a small loan on your house!

  • Charlie says:

I found a ton of Bessie’s at my local H.E.B (grocery store here in Texas). I also found, as my soon likes to call him, “Tokyo Boost.”

  • Bombero1956 says:

The 3 stores I visited had the cube. In every case the chase Freds had their cardbacks bent. I could see it in one store but not 3 stores over 50 miles apart. I did find Bessie in one store. Somebody took it from the cube and hid it behind the pegwarmers in the regular section.

  • cac1959 says:

Don’t forget the 3rd variation of the TRU cube… the invisible one that the store doesn’t have… and that the employees have no idea what you’re talking about… Sigh…

(MET: Yea, I’m not sure if they are not getting it or just have not set it out yet).

    • Mariela says:

Or…the one that it’s on the floor already, but not “open”, and when you ask them if they can open it, they say no..we’re taking it back to stock room! What the heck..?? 😕

      (MET: Crazy retailer …).

    • Micky says:

The third variation is showing up at all the TRU stores around here.

      • Man-I-Fold says:

3 out of 4 TRU near me also have this 3rd version, as well as all of the Targets around me having the invisible version of the most recent two Final Lap cases. Geesh, why don’t I just collect something easy… like bread? Glad I don’t have to buy bread on eBay… yet….

        • kdthomas says:

No, the next thing we’ll be paying a lot to collect is water. Pretty soon they’ll tell us our $0.0005 tap water is not healthy and we should buy the “better” water from a plastic bottle for $2 which comes from our same public supply but in a fancy bottle with a fancy name. Must be healthier then, right?

          • Man-I-Fold says:

yep, all the necessities will be bought up from the local store and jacked up on eBay. ALL the necessities in life – um that’s water, bread, and… Cars!

  • L8rM8r says:

I got lucky and this one had appeared to have just landed at the TRU in New Hampshire. They did have a bunch of chase Fred’s on the cube, but no newer lenticuar cars. Some of the card backs were in rough shape, but it was nice to see all of the new cars toon stuff.

  • jimzin says:

My local TRU in San Mateo, CA was partially picked over. I did see Elvis RV and Marco, but no Frank/Bessie. It had the Monster Truck Mater cars, though Rastacarian was sold out (really popular?).

I picked up Frightning McMean & Tormentor. They are pretty cool.

  • John in Missouri says:

    My town needs a TRU!

  • Jack says:

The top row is not the only difference as well. The cubes with the newer toons have the Monster Truck Mater deluxe Cars. The bottom row or rows have just regular older Mater Tales Oversized Cars. Many cubes have been reported to have no Mater wrestling cars at all. I have seen both types of cubes at stores only about 10 miles apart.

    • Shadow_Faststart says:

My local TRU didn’t have any of the Wrestling Tall Tales, but they did have a ton of new Tokyo Mater cars, so I spent $50 on the latter. Also saw some Franks, but no Bessies.

  • NascarFan says:

Have to watch for them here, thanks Met

  • Stig McQueen says:

Hmmm… It’ll be interesting to see if this shows up at month local grocery store! They used to have an arrangement where TRU stocked their toy aisle; that’s where Stig Jr. picked up all of his first-run Mattel CARS when they first came out. The TRU logo no longer appears in the store, but they must still be getting a lot of their stock through the same channels because a lot of these kinds of displays still show up; last week there was a huge Hot Wheels display in the middle of the “seasonal” aisle.

  • michael says:

I was up in VA and found the Mater Tales Japan cars, then returned to Tampa FL to find the 4×4 cars. But, NO Bessie! I am so hurt.
And I saw so many Fred Chase it was unreal. At the Tampa store they had 9.

    • kdthomas says:

I’m starting to believe that there is a conspiracy going on at Mattel. Bessie is just a fictional release to keep us all running around to stores in an attempt to get us to break down and start buying more lenticulars. I’ve never spotted a Bessie in the wild and think that reports of people seeing them and buying them are just plants by the FBI.

  • Chris says:

Are the TRU getting this cube or is it just the larger stores?

  • Jack says:

All cubes have plenty of Franks though. I think the Frank shortage is over for awhile.

  • Piston Car Hunter says:

The one I found here in Texas had Oversized singles on the bottom two rows (Elvis RV, Marco, etc.), but it must have been picked through for any Bessies already before I got to it. 🙁

  • pwschuh says:

Found a cube in a New York (Hudson valley) TRU. It had about seven Chase Fred fallen bumpers. Production numbers on that thing must be astronomical.

  • Lee says:

Found a full one and Fred was the only Chase as well.

  • por356 says:

The Cube at my TRU (Case H type) had a number of Fred with Fallen Bumper chases in it. When I got there it was not picked over (when I left, it was a different story).
