Mattel Disney Pixar Diecast CARS: Lenticulars Only at WM For Now …

It might be time to drag out the gorilla photo but it may be someone at the Mattel warehouse to blame …

RE-ENACTMENT

“Hey, I’m here to fill the lenticular orders for everyone around the country, why is it empty here?”

“I sent the whole thing to Walmart.”

“The whole thing??!”

“Was that wrong? Should I not have done that?”

So, in case you’re wondering why you can’t find any elsewhere for weeks … they’re ALL at Walmart … by plan or by mis-plan … the only place to find lenticulars is at WM until literally the next ship comes in …

Meanwhile, you can check out the great photos that Jeanne S. sent us …

The new card design – slightly shorter – about 1″ But very classy with its two way window.

ferrari-back

A fitting showcase for a Ferrari … or should this be glass? Shouldn’t we get chase cards with windows made of glass like a real showroom? 🙂

And of course, no one is tired of looking at the return of Sarge!

Salute!

And speaking of tired … now you can re-enact the Cozy Cone scene 🙂

Here’s what Jeanne S. has to say about the ‘lenticular effect’ … “if you are standing there and you move to one side it looks like the eyes are still looking at you, but if you are actually holding the car then the eyes physically look like they are opening and closing …”

mc-eyesSo you get it all – eyes moving and eyes open & close …

Thanks for the great pics Jeanne S. … so good luck in your hunt!

Anyone have the UPC codes for some of the Lenticular Eyes cars? My Walmart is not even showing them in the system so I was going to try with another UPC of an actual LE Car. Thanks!

  • TarheelBill says:

    What about the future of 3 Car Gift Packs…Lenticular??? Non-Lenticular??? $15.97 3 Packs??? 😕

(MET: Non lenticular … did you just give them a pricing suggestion? 🙂 ).

    • TarheelBill says:

NOOOOOOO! Not a pricing suggestion! 😮 Now for the serious stuff. Are the lenticulars just going to be repeat releases? Will future new releases be in the lenticular line, non-linticular line or both? Depending on the answer that will effect the Movie Moments (if they survive) and 3 Packs won’t it ?

    Ladies & Gentlecars,

    Interesting comments, no comment.

Las Vegas rules, pot’s right, table read the cards. Winner take all, loser get outta town.

Gun fight at the Lenticular Corral.

    • Steve AKA: Poppa says:

Acuransx, You may want to pass on to your co-workers in product development and marketing that they need to stop this chase Car insanity. With the absence of Sarge since Super Charge series, Mattel should NOT have made him a ‘chase’ Car. Sarge is a main character in the story, not some third string minor character. The demand for Sarge will not be satisfied by this series. Read the entries concerning the opened cases at Wal*Mart that have had Sarge pilfered in the stockroom.

Mattel should have made Sarge a regular issue with at least half a dozen in each case, if not more. Rehashing castings that are already clogging the shelves with SC, WOC and ROR packaging at the expense of Sarge does not make sense.

I do not subscribe to conspiracy theories, but, I’m firmly convinced there is more to the story concerning the recalled Sarge than just bad leaded paint. Something tells me the original Sarge mold was Killed in Action somewhere. Why else would there have been such a long absence.

  • Nicole H says:

So I went to 3 WM in Des Moines, IA area and they all had a case out. Of course, I only found 1 Sarge and one Chase Ferrari. My son wanted to get all the LMQ’s because their eyes closed. I told him no way but let him get a Sheriff since he only has 1 of him.

    Looks into future…

    Full pegs at Walmart

    Empty pegs at Target

    Why?

Walmart has pegs overflowing with bug eyed McQueen and Dirt Track McQueen Lightyear Launchers.

Target’s pegs were graced by Vitoline Pitty, Todd, Mood Springs Launcher, Tow Cap & Gasprin movie moment, and Team Leak Less Hauler pack for about an hour but were scooped up by grateful cars fanatics like ourselves.

Personally I see Target making out like a bandit on Cars. They now have the strangle hold on Mainline singles, Pit Row Launchers, and Movie Moments. Good move on their part!

  • LUCA says:

Anyone can tell me price of Lenticulars at Wal Mart? thanks

  • MackDaddy says:

About 20 mins. ago I tried to visit this site and it brought up a screen that read, “THIS ACCOUNT HAS BEEN SUSPENDED” Anyone else see that?

  • unimog says:

Well, atleast I’m happy to see that they haven’t given Lenticular Lightning McQueen the cheap plastic front end. Why do some McQueens have a plastic smile and others are die cast? (Couldn’t be that its cheaper to make that way, could it?) The plastic really cheapens it for me. By the way, has there been a price increase for the Lenticulars?

    (MET: Yes on price increase).

    • Roswell says:

i agreen, plastic mouths look odd,

      • 5oclockshadow says:

The plastic mouths are so they can use the same die cast mold and slap a new mouth on(smiling, frowning, tongue out, whatever..) and call it a new car. Cuts out costs of making an all new mold.

        • unimog says:

Yes, I would have thought that. But take a look at “Muddy McQueen”. He has a plastic mouth and yet the diecast mold has to be different than the regular mold to account for mud on the rest of the body.

          • Roswell says:

also, apart from mcqueen and the haulers are any other plastic mouthed cars going to have other versions?
Van has one and i cant see another version of him coming out…

  • iamspeed says:

Wasn’t it supposed to be “Salutin’ Sarge” when first announced? I just noticed that he’s labeled as “Saluting Sarge” now that he’s made it to market. “Proper grammar must me maintained” is what Mattel must have decided.

  • iamspeed says:

I’ll take Salutin’ Sarge and that’s about it for “lenticulars”. What a waste of time & materials to create this line……..I see peg warmers after the initial hype is over.

  • bmc says:

Did go back to Walmart and saw they sold a Mater and a LMcQ……saw to employees scanning Transformers and Star Wars and asked them if they had more. One guy scanned the item and said yes we have alot and scanned it a few more times and said it is also coming up “deleted” and told me that once they sell this stock that they were not getting anymore. They said it would take a little bit to get it…I waited….the other guy brought one opened and one closed box…..we finally got a Sarge to replace recalled Sarge.

    • BMW says:

Ok, those who have the Saluting Sarge, have you compared the green paint to original Sarge? This paint looks shiny and not a proper WW2 camo green

  • Nascarfan says:

    You guys are scaring me…

  • Roswell says:

off topic, but why exacly are mattel getting rid of the 2-packs?
they’d sell better if they choose better, rather than repackaging/rereleasing same cars over and over…

can anyone see a mini and van 2-pack?
maybe a chase/limited/convention edition of mini and van when they are lost in the desert all dusty and scruffed up and insane?

    or even pitty 2 packs?
2 diferent pittys (from the same team) with 2 sets of tires and toolchests

or maybe even regular cars but with new sculpts?
like scared LMQ & Angry Sheriff
angry and tar covered snot rodd & boost and wingo & dj

anyone got any other good ideas?

    • Albert Hinkey says:

Great idea on the pitties. I bought two of each so my son could have a decent pit crew for his racers. I want to see the kid car that is holding the toy “marco” jet in he crowd at the second race. How about Tar Snot Rod, Boost, Wingo and DJ in ransburg finishes, pulling BESSIE! That would be great for next year’s Comic Con exclusive.

  • lost says:

found these today. got chase sarge, and Ferrari f430. also picked up lenticular sally. I’m very disappointed if the lenticular feature to me it cheapens the look of the car. This could very well kill the line. Maybe that is Matty’s secret plan so he has more space for he-man and dc universe stuff.

  • BMW says:

Excellent pictures and good explanation of the lenticular effect.

    • Albert Hinkey says:

I have the Lenticular Chick Hicks out of the package in front of me right now (yes I gave in and bought a couple). His eyes are either open or closed. Based on my observation, the eyes do not follow you or appear to be looking at you if you are standing off to one side. It would be cool if they did though. Sorry guys:(

  • 5oclockshadow says:

Wow They went all out on the chase packaging for Ferrari F430.

  • John in Missouri says:

When Met mentions the Wal-Mart gorilla, does anyone else picture Magilla Gorilla like I do?

  • John in Missouri says:

Would someone please post these “in action” on YouTube?

  • CaptainChunk says:

WM is the only store in our area that bothers putting out new stock anyway, no big loss. Plus this means I shouldn’t have too much trouble finding the new chase cars.

  • Jeanne and Aaron from Joplin Missouri says:

i know we were wondering the same thing, we went to target and toys r us and didnt find anything at all that was new… sooo not sure 🙂

  • bentaxle says:

Wal Mart here I come. But not too fast as Ive got 2 queens and SS on the way from takefive member. FIRST is an understatement.

  • Patrick says:

Sweet! First! I’m still wondering why they are ALL at Wally.

  • bmc says:

now I might have to go back to W and check them out again…
