Mattel Disney Pixar CARS 3: Kmart CARS Day 2017

Who knew … that Kmart was even going to stock CARS 3?

So hard to believe that Kmart is going all out … it’s hard to tell exactly what the plan is but it’s probably like the last Kmart CARS Day in 2013. Buy 5 CARS, send in the receipt and the cardback and get a car by mail – in this case apparently a “never before seen” Lightning McQueen.

The question is whether there will be a “new case/unique case” of diecasts OR simply CASE A-B? Normally there are “exclusives” available in the case so you want to get there on the 1st day … but if it’s just case A-B, then you can slowly pick them up in the next 6 weeks.

Will it be available online as in cases like all the other Kmart CARS Day?

This will be CARS Day #11 if you’re keeping track.

For those who missed out on the GOOD OLD DAYS of KMART CAR DAYS (here’s a typical one).

Or when it was CRAZY.

Thanks for the heads up “Brian/Toomsterev!”

“John H.” sent along pics of his Kmart a few days which I couldn’t believe – this is why i suspect Kmart is NOT getting a special case … maybe I’m wrong/hope I’m wrong but maybe just don’t expect too much?

This is the nicest looking Kmart – maybe EVER?

We’ll count down as we get closer.

I received an update today to not expect shipment until 8/30/17.

Deadline is just a few days away:
To complete your transaction, please send the appropriate number of qualifying blister cards (5 per vehicle), original Kmart retail store or Kmart.com receipt(s), and check or money order for $3.50 (unless you paid by credit card) each to:

    Lightning McQueen
    P.O. Box 1229
    East Aurora, NY 14052

DON’T FORGET: Requests must be postmarked by 8/4/2017, and received by 8/22/2017. You will receive your Lightning McQueen vehicle approximately 8-12 weeks after we receive your blister cards, original Kmart retail store or Kmart.com receipt(s), and payment.

We still have our Kmart but it hasnt been cleaned since the last Kmart Day…

Thankfully, there’s still TWO Kmarts left in my area-down from the 10 or so I remember that were around here when I got my first job with them nearly 20 years ago. Two others closed last year and one of these final two is closing next month. How much longer the sole survivor continues to operate, as well as the rest of the company-remains to be seen.

Regardless, I’m pretty excited to participate in mine and my son’s first Cars event…We didnt start playing the “gotta have them all” game until he was 3 in 2015…hopefully, this ONE store will have something we dont already have or we will be playing the buy and return game!

      • Matersgrlfriend says:

Oh, they are on to you pal, they make you mail in the cardbacks to get the special car. No returns for you!

(MET: And yes, they will match the UPC to the card as KM lists them by UPC and not by a master UPC).

        • Big_Bad_A-mans_Dad says:

It would certainly be much easier if they just have something to offer me that I don’t have and would gladly buy-but chances are slim. I hit the Kmart store 2x a week already and pretty much buy the CARS as they trickle out to the sales floor, which is a SLOW trickle! (They just put out some “stunt racers” of Raoul and Mater that were found in the back-How old are those?) Anyways, having worked for the Big K, I am well versed in their return policies and the ways around them.

So, consider this…it just so happens that I have 7 unopened diecasts at home that I purchased at Kmart already. If I buy at least 5 duplicates during Kmart Cars Day, I can then open the same 5 at home and send the cardbacks w/ Kmart receipt. (BTW, UPCs are not going to be store specific so as long as I don’t send in cardbacks for Todd Pizza Planet or Rusteze Racing Center McQueen, I’m good.)

Then, presumably within the 90 day return period, and after I receive my free gift, I return the 5 still in package without receipt. No-receipt returns are either given a gift card or reverse-searched via credit card and credited back to the charged account.

Had to do something similar last week when Target offered us $25 gift cards on a $100 purchase! I returned my 11 pack, and a handful of other diecasts and playsets that I bought May 1st, and simply repurchased to receive my gift card.

Its ruthless, I know-but I still spent my money at the store when I bought 7 diecasts there already so I feel as though I’ve met the requirements for the free gift anyways. Just because I bought my CARS early shouldn’t disqualify me from getting the gift. Besides, there will be at least 5 people that, after seeing the movie, will come to the store and buy at least ONE single each, so the store/company isn’t losing anything by gifting me for 5 I purchased “outside” of the promo dates!

I am amazed at this. Really thought Kmart Cars Events were never going to happen again. Kmart has pretty well shuttered all their Texas stores. No luck here. Hope this will be available on line sales. Any one know more?

  • Steve AKA: Poppa says:

Good luck trying to find a KMart. My area had five. Now down to one which is in the process of closing. When closing there are signs indicating the store is not participating in any promotions or receiving new merchandise.

  • e.davies1 says:

At a value if $9.99, is the free one even a die cast car? With their pricing it would need to be a 2 pack to be $9.99

    • quercy says:

It could be a McQueen in an acrylic case similar to the Target one about a year ago… That’s would be a $10 value I guess…

      (MET: Sounds logical).

      • Matersgrlfriend says:

I have heard they are also doing on online promo. You have to buy a 12 pack of some sort to get the promo car. I am wondering if it is the same promo car as the in store/mail in or not.
