Jeanne S. From Joplin, MO Says They Could Use a Hand …

If you do not know, a deadly tornado ripped through Joplin, Missouri yesterday …

Via Boston.com

The tornado was given a preliminary EF4 rating — the second-highest rating given to twisters. The rating is assigned to storms based on damage they cause.

Sunday’s tornado was the deadliest single U.S. twister in about six decades.

Some spooky and scary FLIKR photos.

Jeanne S. lives in Joplin, MO – her family are doing fine so far but others have not been so fortunate … and of course, another storm and possible tornado might form again tonight. She asked us to pass her note along …

I’m sure by now you have seen the news and weather reports for Joplin, MO .. We were completely hammered by an F4 tornado .. It actually hit 10 miles from my house.  The pictures dont even begin to describe the devastation that has happened in the area.  Since I know T5 is such a giving group of people and Joplin is in our route 66 love for Cars 🙂   I thought i would just ask if you would just post a quick asking if anyone would like to help! 🙂     i added a list of other information .. idk if anyone would even want it.. but if people were wanting to donate things or help instead of money.. thats the current info 🙂     thanks so much!!

Might I add that this information was taken from our Facebook Page entitled: http://www.facebook.com/joplincritical known as “Joplin Tornado Critical Information”. When copying this much text, it would be nice to make sure to give CREDIT to the source or atleast provide a LINK to their page for all the hard work they put into making this HUGE list.

I have tried to give as much information to the public as I possibly can. Every single Scribd document, note was made by one mom. We don’t make folks have to “Like” our page to view the information. Thus, we have 6600 likes but over 31000 followers. Sure wish the media would see the value in our page, unfortunately, we are still not recognized as a source of Validated and Viable information for the entire Joplin Community and Volunteers. If you feel this information and the information on our page is important and integral to Joplin’s Recovery, please feel free to let others know. Our page is a Grass Roots page that was initiated by a stay at home mom in Alabama who saw a need for a page that “sifted” the everyday posts and questions from the “Critically Important”. We hope to continue to serve the Community. We cannot do it without YOUR support.
Thank you. –Jennifer (Sr. Admin and creator of JTCI)Email: joplincriticalinfo@gmail.com

Saw this on the news from my hospital bed and was praying for your safety. So happy to read you are safe. I am finally home and will continue to send up prayers.

  • Justin-Case says:

    Jeanne,
I have only recently stumbled upon T5AD and have found several friends and many good people on this site. You are no exception and my thoughts and prayers go out to you and your family as well as the many others who were affected by this tragedy.

  • materrocks says:

    Thornton, CO
Talking about Cars is not so important now when people have lost their lives and alot of people have nothing left, not even a place to call home anymore. Some times people are so selfish and don’t realise how much they have and should thank the LORD for all their blessings every day. My heart goes out to all of you. May GOD speed a recovery and may Joplin rise again from the ruins and become the town that it once was.

  • Future Pixar Goddess says:

Jeanne I feel like a rotten friend! Im so so sorry I hope your friends and neighbors are all okay, thank God you and your family are alright. If you need anything please dont hesitate. I will continue to keep you and your family and town in my prayers.

  • Jeanne Scriven says:

you are the best Met! thanks so much for posting this ! 🙂 we were under 2 tornado warnings tonight.. my heart just goes out for the people actually processing though this in Joplin.. to have to deal with these storms on top of not fully completing the search and rescue stuff from sunday.. its just crazy.. anything any one can do would be amazing! 🙂

(MET: Stay safe and hope the weather normalizes …)

  • NascarFan says:

After surviving 9 tornadoes, I know what they are going through.

  • TarheelBill says:

Please pray for those in Joplin…They are under a tornado watch right now (9:30 pm est) and the authorities are asking everyone to clear out. Only problem… there is nowhere safe to go.

  • jestrjef says:

Thank you for posting this Met. I was talking to Jee earlier today and it was good to know that everyone in her family was safe. The news coverage, pictures and video of the destruction involved is just staggering. I witnessed the aftermath of Hurricane Hugo as a child when I lived in South Carolina, and this brings back vivid memories for me. From what I have read, there are still hundreds of folks that are missing and unaccounted for. Our thoughts and prayers go out to everyone there in Joplin.

  • martyboy70 says:

The first time I saw this on the news I thought this place is in the song at the end of Cars.
To cut a long story short Im in the UK I want to help and there doesnt appear to be a Paypal address on this page so can I:
    A) donate directly using Paypal or Visa
    B) send funds through Paypal to a trusted T5ADer to be passed on.
Im not talking a fortune here £10 or so($16) but hopefully enough to help someone.
Here in the UK I am on holiday in a caravan(RV) and we have had some pretty bad winds which have caused fatalities but nothing like that experienced by these people.

    • John in Missouri says:

The links above in the DONATIONS section of Met’s post take you right to website where you can donate with PayPal or credit card. I keep trying to post the links, but my comment never shows up…

  • John in Missouri says:

It’s amazing how many businesses just in Jefferson City alone are setting up donation dropoffs this week, and I imagine it’s the same all over the state. As Jeanne mentioned, Joplin is on Route 66 and also in the song’s lyrics. Here is Chuck Berry’s version from the “Cars” CD:

Well if you ever plan to motor West,
Jack take my way, it’s the highway that’s the best.
Get your kicks on Route 66.

Well it winds from Chicago to L.A.,
More than two thousand miles all the way.
Get your kicks on Route 66.

Well it goes through Saint Louie,
    Joplin, Missouri,
Oklahoma City looks ooh so pretty.
    You’ll see Amarillo,
    Gallup, New Mexico,
    Flagstaff, Arizona,
    Don’t forget Winona,
    Kingman, Barstow, San Bernardino.
Won’t you get hip to this kindly tip:
    And take that California trip
Get your kicks on Route 66.
