And yes, they are larger than the Mattel scale but they are nice and nicely detailed …

The cape is sort of removeable – I think you can remove it with a little force or ask a 2-year old. It will off there and lost in seconds
If I could get these hubcaps, it would sure spiff up my ride …

This El Materdor set is only available in stores but the Mater the Greater set is available online.

Ok i am positive Dr.Hudson ANd GitrDone have posted something on this and i cant find them anywhere can anyone tell me?
Is the Mater the Greater set also in the larger (1/43) size? It looks like they used the same basic mold for Mater’s mouth so I assume so. Also, it is being sold by Disney.
(MET: Yea, larger size).
Finally something in Canada – but wish it was 1:55…

this set is very cool..i like IT!
I have said it since I first saw it. Even though I have only collected Matell before, El Materdor Mater from the Disney Store is the nicest Mater ever made yet. Whereas the size of the regular Cars I perfer Matells, Mater is great in this size. These are well made also. They are heavy almost like a mini Tonka truck. They are beautifully crafted as well. Plus gauging from the interest of the casual Cars buyer, the people love it. I have received an incredible amount of postive feedback from many I have sent the set too. Even hardened Matell Disney Cars collectors say it’s great.

Australia – we say Merry Christmas. Personally I am not a fan of the Happy Holidays being used in Australia. I have no problems with the Yanks dsaying it but I think we need to retain our own identity.

This is a great set ….picked it up for a LOVELY friend I know …. but none for us …I will wait for the 1:55′s ……cuz they will be AWESOME, too!
Me too Jeff! I like the Disney ones, but there is just something slightly “off”. Its kind of hard to define but just a feeling. Plus they are just too big. Probably better for 3 year olds tho.
You’re hung up on how bad Mater looks aren’t you? Most of the cars have been really well done. I like them a bunch and I’ve been picking them up super cheap too. With the buy one get one free a couple weeks back I was able to pick up the four light up tunerz for $15. What a sweet deal. Also I don’t know if anyone else noticed this about the disney store cars but they are definately more chip resistant.
so you don’t have a 2-4 year old throwing the cars accross the floor and into the walls? Lucky you.
That’s the main reason I like the Minis so much – they’re like a Fisher Price toy – indestructible

Me too! All of the Disney cars are fun. Of course… the Mattel ones are mostly better quality…. The disney ones are a fun addition, especially at Buy 1, Get 1 free!
