Mattel Disney Pixar Diecast CARS: Movie Moments REVISED – Clearance Coming?

While these revised & “new” Movie Moments seem to have arrived in Canada & parts of Europe, not much inkling they are even about to return to the US …

Since there is presumably going to be card redesign as we switch to lenticulars or “drifting,” it might be safe to guess we won’t see the Movie Moments returning to the US until Autumn?

(of course, they are a Target exclusive going forward)

And now they have definitely been dullified … the revised list of “new” ones loses the most interesting of the 2-packs …The revised list of ‘new’ MM releases pretty much matches what’s already been released internationally already …

And of course, all the CARS have been released already as singles – though the only CAR that might be missing in some collections is Kori and to a lesser extent, Bruiser – as both were only released as singles in the WM8 in 2008 (Bruiser re-released in 3-pack). Otherwise, there won’t be much of a fight in the aisle …

And returning – presuming in a new design motif?

Just as I finished this post, Jose T. sent along an email with info that Target is reducing Movie Moments to $3.99 starting on Sunday …

A logical conclusion could be drawn that this is a clearance and they are finally hoping to clear the decks of WOC Movie Moments so ROR Movie Moments (or another design) can finally be shipped?

All signs seem to point to lenticulars leaving Mattel’s warehouse very early June so will the Target “classics” singles be coordinated as well? Some magical reset where new classics plus re-freshed Movie Moments hits Target all at once?

Guess we’ll find out in a week+ …

ALSO NOTE – at the bottom of the Target ad, “Other CARS items also on sale …”

When the Cars line came out in April 2006, the Movie Moments sets made sense (Snot Rod and Boost, Red & Stanley, Flo Ramone, Guido Luigi Tractor)as these characters were ONLY available as pairs in the MM, so people bought them to get the cars. Nowadays most of them have been released as singles, or over and over again on Supercharged and WOC cardbacks. Stanley with Red always made sense to me as Stanley was so small and Red was big and detailed. Never understood why Wingo was a Desert Art single, yet Snot Rod and Boost were Movie Moments??

Movie Moments are not compelling anymore since they are repeats over and over again, or the cars in these sets have been released as singles. No reason to buy them again. And they are cheaper in the single packs!

The 3 packs are expensive per car (3.66 ea versus 2.97ea) in comparison to the single packs, and from what I saw last weekend, the Dinoco three pack is a huge pegwarmer. Too many in the cases.

One Target had a dozen Dinocos, One Walmart (no kidding) had two rows three high of the Dinoco three pack, estimate there were,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, at least 20. This store must have gotten each case release since A.

Would be a great sale if the Target I just got home from actually had anything to choose from! Only 3 MM and not one single Tractor Tippin game! They also had the OS and Mini’s on sale and of course nothing to choose from. And yes, I was there when they opened!

Just wanted to help out fellow Cars fans with the ad I send out to Met. Probably singles will be on sale as well. Usually that’s what they’ll do if it says other cars toys also on sale. For how much, we’ll have to wait and see. 😀

Except that Target has already dropped their “singles” price to $2.99 to stay competitive with Walmart, so I doubt they’ll drop any lower.

I say make a case with just Kori/McQueen, P.T. Flea and Flik, & Stanley/Red , and then put this line out of its misery for good. Unless they keep the $3.99 price tag of course. 😎
