Although it has been stated that the Toons will be back sometime between Holiday 2011 and Spring 2012, I don't recall seeing any updates to this. Are new Toons cars still set to come out pretty soon, or have they been cancelled for some sad reason?

There will be the new short on the Cars 2 Blu-Ray/DVD, so maybe we'll see some new cars and planes in toy form, as we did for Ghostlight Mater.

I hope El Matordor will be in the next case so we can open ours. We are just playing with the plastic playset one for right now. A clean Tokyo Mater without flames would be cool too.

That would be great! The plastic one is our only one for now. Is the diecast a lot different aside from the material?

Just like the differences in plastic and diecast Chuy, the detailing is nicer on the diecast. Same size, so for a 3 year old, the plastic one is just fine right now. He shows no preference between the 2 Chuys. So I haven't opened the deluxe El Materdor yet.

Right now the one in the package is displayed next to the plastic one that he plays with, so he hasn't asked to open it yet.

Never bought the Playset because those seemed like a waste of money. I did buy the Tokyo Mater Donut Playset w/ DVD only because it was Clearanced to $5.00

ALTHOUGH, I do recommend the Radiator Springs Playsets– Flo's V8 Cafe, Ramone's House of Body Art, Lizzie's Curio Shop, and Luigi's Casa Della Tires. They were very good for Displaying your Cars and I wish they made more of them. My favorite is Luigi's, it was the hardest for me to find and it was worth it!

Just saying they are crossed out on the 2012 Price List so it's not likely we'll see them before Christmas when the 2012 releases arrive. Maybe later in 2012 but there's no telling yet. I'll know more when I get the Spring 2012 Catalog.
