Mattel Disney Planes: Diecasts Selling Well …
So far in the stores that have received PLANES products like TRU below, the diecasts seem to be selling well. The two closest Targets only have a scattering of product but the movie is still 5 weeks away.
The playsets don’t seem to have much action – has anyone bought and tested out the playsets?

Kmart in Manistee, MI had a decent assortment of Planes. I yawned and carried on.
When were Planes diecast supposed to be released? My local KM and WM have no signs of them.

Nearest Walmart got the display and sold out of diecast planes!
I got 2 box sets from target and a few singles from TRU. The stores around me are pretty much empty when it comes to both cars and planes. And Kmart… Forget about it, not even 1 new single for the so called cars month they only have about 4 or 5 pegs with LM and FB.
My son really wanted propwash junction so my husband got it for him. The planes don’t really slide well on them so he now just plays with the cars on the “flight section”.
The display at TRU was full of Cars merchandise but there was an end cap that was full from top to bottom with Planes merchandise.
K-Mart and Fred Meyer have stand alone displays. Neither one of them appear to be selling well. At K-Mart part of the display had Cars added to it which did sell out. If I were an adult buying for a child, I’d feel the Planes are over priced. And, unless an adult has been tortured to sit and watch cartoons with his or her child or grandchild, the person may not be aware there is a movie coming out. The display would look just like another toy display. Kind of like the “Cars, The Original” back in 2006.
(MET: The TV ads are starting … their frequency will probably be more often after TURBO opens).
I’ll have to check out my TRU’s today, but the one Target that had put them out was completely sold out except for one of the 4 packs by the next day!
my experience is that the targets in my area never got the singles…
Met, that photo is misleading. It shows TRU but you mention Target.

Ishani, Skipper and Leadbottom seem to be the only ones selling around me.
My Target put out one case of 12 Planes about a week ago. I bought Ishani but the other 11 remain. They’re going to need to move these over to where they display Dustbusters.
I bought Yorkie the Aircraft Carrier at TRU but haven’t opened it yet… my grandchildren haven’t been over yet… I’m hoping it will rekindle their interest in Cars.
