Mattel Disney Pixar CARS Diecast: Case P, It’s Real, It’s Spectacular, It’s More Rare …

First, yes, the P CASE is real and has arrived at Children’s Toy Closet …

First orders in, first orders out … you will get an email confirmation when yours gets labeled and shipped. Don’t worry – he is only selling what he has confirmed as coming so if you just ordered, yours is still on the way from Mattel’s warehouse.

And yes, the case contents are correct …

Yep, TWO Super Chases – Memo Rojas Jr. (Mexico) AND Vitaly Petrov (Russia).Β  And 1 each of: Sir Harley Gassup, Fabrizio, Alex Vandel, Nick Cartone and Suki plus 2 of Otis and Erik Laneley (sorry for the error number 1 above – too lazy to go back and change it).

The other 13 CARS in the case are: 2 Carlo Maserati’s, 2 Miguel Camino’s, 2 Max Schnell’s, 2 Nigel Gearsley, 1 Hydraulic Ramone, 1 Raoul Caroule, 1 RT Sarge, 1 Francesco and 1 McQueen …

But it gets BETTER (well, better if your ordered a case) … Vitaly Petrov (Russia) is now the rarest of Super Chases, er, Ultimate Super Chase?

Look closely at the production number disclaimer … yep, no more than 2,000 of Vitaly Petrov (Russia).

Some have asked if it’s just a typo – I doubt it for several reasons. First, since the rest of the card doesn’t change except for the addition of Cyrillic Russian, no reason that section would get changed plus a dozen people sign off on it.

Second, the number of cases in the warehouse pretty much correspond to @1,900 cases as there was never an availability above that number. It seemed odd that after a few days/hours of selling, that number was not closer to 4,000 but now we have that confirmation there are only @1,900 CASE P’s as there are only about 1,900 Vitaly Petrov’s to complete this case.

Third, it’s clear that due to the retail situation, Mattel had to scramble to sell and create twin cases of G&H to properly distribute the first two Super Chases – that the original plan of driving fans to retail for a Super Chase was not working (when retailers are not buying, that hurts the plan). Since the Super Chases were only going to be available to resellers – even @4,000 cases was still a tough sell to clear – especially with the card change coming, Mattel just decided to cut their losses and cut the production to a reasonable but not super rare of @2,000 …

So, yes, CASE P is as advertised. You get 2 Super Chases and 7 new CARS characters.

Yes, if you placed an order and got a confirmation from CTC, you will get a sealed case.

Yes, there are fewer than 2,000 Vitaly Petrov’s produced.

Yes, I will have to update my 10 rarest production CARS post.

Yes, I think CTC still has a few cases in stock so order here.

I do not know if this is still active: there’s also a coupon code (one time use per household) – CP20 which knocks $20 off your total order. You must register an account at CTC to use this coupon.

HOW DO YOU ORDER FROM CTC! There are some Cases listed but I don’t know which one is case P because they have numbers and I don’t want to get the wrong case!

awesome case, wish I could afford to buy them by the case cause otherwise I’ll never find any chase.

Our walmart has the same original 20 singles. Never got pope, only 2 of the double decker bus.

Now they have 14 moon mater but only 1 each of the lightnings. The newest case they opened had 4 moon mater, of each lightning and the plane.

Shake and gos all gone now after last nights 2.50 price.

And they have another 40 walmart haulers back on the shelf again after being gone for months.

Our cars section is mostly micro drifters and the mega size finns.

Obviously this is an amazing case, we haven’t seen this many new cars in an assortment in a loooooooong time. One thing that has me thinking is the recent posts pointing to a production total on this assortment of somewhere just shy of 2000. Now obviously the Russian Super chase is going to be a very hot item for years to come and will command secondary market prices well in excess of the cost of the case. It’s right there on the card, no more than 2000 produced. The mexico super chase is a little murky, entirely possible that there are twice as many as the statement on the card is the original super chase number of 4000. It’s not clear if they actually produced that number and Mattel of course will never tell.
But what might be hiding deeper are the other cars in this case. Obviously the Francescos and Lightings will join their shelf clutter brethren on the ashheap of Pixar Cars history, but the other 7 new release cars in this case (especially Sir Harley Gassup, Fabrizio, Alex Vandel, Nick Cartone and Suki) may well be real gems long term as well, on par with the russian super chase in terms of rarity and demand for completist collectors. Yes, many if not all of the cars will see wider future release, on the new conglomerated line cards. But on the Porto Corso cards……….well that’s a different story. One need only look to the secondary market prices on the Impound Snot Rod with confetti on the bubble or the early error Filmore releases to see that extremely short run officially produced package variants will command high prices in the future, even on cars that have seen multiple releases.
I think those of us who manage to secure these for our collections will be heaving big sighs of relief in the future.

Haven’t received my shipped email yet but I’m super excited I ordered this case. For us it’ll be 9 new Cars, the rest will be donated to our local toy drive. Yay!

  • MackDaddy says:

I received my shipping confirmation from CTC at 12:20 pst. I haven’t been this excited for Christmas in a long time! Thanks again Met! Had you not shared this hot post, I may not have ever had a chance of getting these! You’re the Man! πŸ˜€

    (MET: Yea, it’ll be a fun one to open … πŸ™‚ ).

  • Lane Change says:

I’ve checked back for over a week now and there hasn’t been anymore for sale on their website. Still nothing today either.

(MET: You can call or email if you’re unsure).

      Thornton, Co
I just ordered this case a few minutes ago. They are available again. Seems to me the first post about this case at CTC was selling for $90.00 , now it’s $120.00. Am I correct?

  • Pontiac Michigan says:

I’m guessing around 672 cases on the 3 skids. Nice catch for CTC!
    And so lucky for us!

  • Dekoy says:

Interesting development, does it say 2000 on Memo also? and if not, then where do the other 2000 show up then?

(MET: I believe Memo still reads 4,000 so very good question … if I had to guess, they probably offered them to Memo to sign as promotions … does he have a website? πŸ™‚ ).

  • John in Missouri says:

My Walmart has that EXACT number of cases of pegwarmers!
