If you prefer to know nothing and want to be surprised it all – don’t read but if you want a great sneak review of what to expect in terms of rides, the lines and the food and … surprise, some more lines, check out the great preview. 🙂

Via MiceAge (thanks Al!).

Notes on Opening Day…

With June 15th rushing forward on the calendar, TDA planners have been tweaking the final few days itinerary. With the big celebrity party and media kickoff planned for Cars Land on the evening of June 13th, the original plan to keep the area walled off until June 15th is falling by the wayside.

The plan now is to remove most of the walls around Cars Land overnight on June 12th, with the walls gone by the time the park opens on June 13th. The general public won’t be allowed in to Cars Land on the 13th, but the stages and media risers needed for the fireworks-laden musical kickoff to the celebrity party will need the entrance area entirely free of walls that evening. So anyone dropping by DCA on June 13th should get some good views of at least parts of Cars Land that haven’t been viewable from the Blue Sky Cellar for the past three years.

June 14th will still be dedicated entirely to the media, with DCA closed to the public that day. The walls along Buena Vista Street need to come down however, and the morning of the 14th should allow some good views of the new entrance from the Esplanade. And then on the morning of the 15th they will have a final opening ceremony and rededication speech by Bob Iger.

BTW, if you’re going, you should definitely add this app to your smartphone – the Disneyland LINES app from TouringPlans. The app is free but there’s a subscription that covers each of the parks – with a breakdown of wait times – obviously well worth it when you are deciding on whether you should commit the time.

Have fun!

I went June 9th from 6-11 pm. I was able to see it at night and it was well worth it. I think this is the most amazing land. I have many pics and a full video of RSR while we were on it. I will be getting it to Met as soon as I can. I agree with Flo’s food and prices. I have only one complaint about my preview night. Part of it is expected I know but it still upset me. RSR breaks down all the time. The first time we were in line it broke down for about 30 minutes but it did come back online and we were able to ride it. The second time we were in line it broke down again right before we got on. It never came back the rest of the night. This was about 9:00 pm so the remainder of the evening it was not running. Luigi’s was down the entire time except the last 30 minutes of the evening too. I did not even bother trying. So after spending the $75 per ticket I was pretty bummed that 2 main attractions were down so much of the time. Plus, WOC was to follow the Cars land time based on what it said but all they did was cancel the 10:15 public showing and make it for the event. So, I ended up not going to that either. I get the feeling based on what people were saying that there is a planned second part of this land if it is successful.

Sorry to hear that your experience was wrought with so many glitches. They must have worked out the bugs on RSR overnight. On Sunday, it was non-stop the whole time. We only rode it twice, but could have done it about every 15 minutes the whole 4 hours. There are small variations on the ride. I won’t spoil it for others by revealing the variation. Suffice to say it is a small difference, but a very nice touch and a pleasant surprise.

Luigi’s was working the whole time, too.

I started a post on the Forum under the General category. Someone asked for photos. I’ll post some of mine. It would be really cool to see some of your night photos.

Went to the preview day today from 1:00PM to 5:00PM. Probably won’t be that empty for a while or ever again. Cars Land is AWESOME. Radiator Springs Racers is almost worth the price of admission by itself. They really could have made two separate rides out of that one. Skip Luigi’s; it’s not worth waiting in line. Mater’s Junkyard Jamboree was a pleasant surprise. Flo’s is pretty good. The prices were reasonable (for Disney) and food was above average. Ramone’s and Sarge’s had some neat stuff. Lizzie’s is a disappointment. They should revamp Lizzie’s and do it soon. All three stores could be a merchandising wet dream. There is so much potential.

Can’t wait for June 15th. We’ll be able to see the neon all lit up at night.

I’m really sorry to be Debbie Downer, but even though I’m impressed with their efforts, they missed nearly all the businesses between the Courthouse and Luigi’s & Ramone’s. Someday when I win Powerball, I’m going to buy some land and build the whole town to scale. And everyone will be invited!
