2,000 Words & Phrases “Invented” By William Shakespeare

Well, it’s not clear that he actually invented all these 2,000 words and phrases but most of the earliest written examples are these are from his sonnets, plays, etc … here’s a cute 1-minute recap …

You can find a nice list of words we still use everyday here … (including one of my favorite words – besmirch). And all the phrases that have stood the test of time – some so common they are cliches now.
