will hold out and hope to find him as a single or 2 pack. Can’t keep wasting money on duplicates.

I hit Target last night and found 3 flavors of these 4 packs. There was a Mini Cooper with a British flag on top and a couple of others with various fans. At $18.99, I can’t shell out for 1/4 new cars though, although the British car was pretty sweet! If anyone needs one, email spdanell at micron.com. I don’t jack prices! Just cover tax and shipping…

Yeah it’s a shame Mattel tries to milk collectors for over 20.00 for 1 new car. It’s the exact reason why we don’t collect them all from Cars 2. I wonder exactly how many repeats and sets you would have had to buy already to get every release so far including the variant Finish line Frenzy McQueens, Mater with Bomb, Target 4 packs etc. to collect them all so far? I would imagine one has had to spend a couple hundred dollars more already than if they were all released as singles or in sets with mostly new ones.

I went to 2 Targets and a Super Target. I didn’t find any of the Denise’s, but found some Ronnie del Mini Coopers and finally a Double Decker bus.

  • John in Missouri says:

At first glance, she looks like Nurse Kori in the 4-pack.

    • Stig McQueen says:

Nah, Denise is based on the Nissan Figaro, one of the “retro” style cars that Nissan released in the JDM in 1989-1992 or so (others being the Mini-esque Be-1 and the snail-like S-Cargo). Kori was just another nondescript hatchback.

Looks like there are 4 to a case, went to Target to grab a printer and came across 4 of them on the shelf.

  • John says:

Having no inside information I can’t be sure. I discovered this trick the week that Cars 2 came out on DVD. I happened to use my phone to look for this set and it listed the location in my Target as CL5. I did not know what that meant so I asked a store associate. There at checklane 5 was a freestanding black cardboard shelf display filled with the various DVDs. On the bottom shelf in the shadows where I never would have seen them were eight Denise Beam sets. We checked the toy department and only found the 4 pack with Max Schnell. The next couple of Target visits that bottom shelf was empty, I figured the eBayers had made their sweep. Now the free standing display is gone also. The website now says sold out on-line and in stores.

    • BMW says:

Thanks for the information, but the Target info through the mobile app was not accurate for me. Tried 3 different Targets today, one of which showed Checklane 11 where the DVD kiosk was and another Target on A 6 where that store had the DVD kiosk.
The third store showed a location in electronics where that store has the DVD kiosk. All 3 showed the Denise Beam but all 3 had the Mini Cooper 4 pack instead.

  • sodabear says:

Not that it matters since they’re all just repeats anyway, but isn’t it odd that there is no Carla Veloso in this set?

  • LUCA says:

    neeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeed it!

  • Tom says:

Well I can honestly say I can resist this one. We have bought all the multi packs up to this point to get the exclusive, but I’ve had it with this nonsense. Might try to get a loose one from fleabay, or wait til clearance time. For now, as Eddie Murphy said mockingly, I’m not going to fall for the banana in the tailpipe.

  • Dunroamin says:

    Same DCPI as the others?

    • John says:

Yes same DCPI, but notice on Target’s website a unique internet number too. Unlike Kmart, if you order a set from Target on-line you actually get what you ordered.

  • Stig McQueen says:

Found one quite by chance last Saturday; wasn’t expecting to see anything new, what with all of the pegwarmers.

The name on the package may say “Denise Beam,” but mine will always be known as “Elisabeth.” The color choice indicates that somebody at Pixar was a fan of “Doctor Who” or “The Sarah Jane Adventures.”

    RIP, Lis…

  • bobbyjack says:

I don’t have duplicates of Miguel or Raoul yet, so I might be tempted to get this if I see it. But with all the other four packs just rotting on the shelf at all my local Targets, I probably won’t see it until about Easter.

  • John says:

    TIP for finding this set.

    1) Go to the mobile version of Target’s website
    2) On a regular computer this is at m.target.com
    3) search for “cars racing 5”
    4) there should only be a couple of results, one of which is the Denise Beam set
    5) click “find in a store”
    6) enter your zip code or city
A list of stores which have the set will come up
    7) click on the blue mileage number
at the top of the listing it will say something like:

Available – SMALL DIECAST VEHICLES Aisle F32
    Yourtown

The aisle number is your clue to where in the store to find the set. If it says “CL5” that is check lane #5.

As good as Target’s system is, it only seems to update every 24hrs so finding it listed as in stock on the mobile site does not guarantee that they did not all sell out that day. It also can not account for the random child having carried the set away from its shelf and then leaving it in another department.
But this tip can save a lot of driving around.

    • Mike Manifold says:

Thanks, John! I will try this.

    • corinne says:

Please help. I got as far as entering my zip code & 4 stores poped up with pictures. banana picture, blu thing (pharmacy)needle (flu shot but nothing else. There is no milage #. Is that right ?? maybe none of the stores in my area have it yet ??

    • ChrisB says:

This method seems to work, but I’m wary of the results. Checking about 15 Target stores nearest to me shows that this set is available in every store.

Judging from my history with many of these stores, I’d say there is little to no chance that they all have this set. Are you sure the results aren’t just showing for any of the 5-packs and not just this specific one?

      • Eric says:

It is searching the DCPI because that is all that Target’s system is capable of doing. That number is the same for EVERY 4 pack. Every store in your area will show as having this set for that reason. Much like the Ronnie set, it may be hard to find at first, but everywhere soon.

        • John says:

And yet the Denise set was where the mobile search said it would be in the checklane, no mention of the piles of same DCPi Max Schnell sets in the toy aisle the same day.

    • Matersgrlfriend says:

Thanks for the great tip John! Apparently they are at a check lane at my usual store, I never would have checked there!
