Black Friday 2011 – In the Midnight Hour: Target, Kohl’s …

Target will launch its Black Friday sales earlier this year, opening its stores at midnight on November 25th (believe it or not, @20 days away).

In previous years, Target opened for the post-Thanksgiving retail blitz at 4 a.m., the Associated Press reported Friday.

The retailer’s will also be open on Thanksgiving Day, the company announced — that move is part of a pilot program aimed more at buyers looking for food items, not Christmas presents.

Kohl’s has announced they will also open at midnight.

I’m guessing none of the major retailers will let Target get in extra hours so I’m sure TRU & Walmart will-might do the same.

We’re still waiting on actual Black Friday CARS items listings though if you’re a Hot Wheels or Matchbox diecast buyers, CVS – 2 for $1 dollar.

I go people watching on Black Friday…other than the traffic and the parking debacle, I enjoy watching everyone freak out…hilarious

Unless Target starts getting in new Cars inventory, there won’t be any Cars worth buying in the stores that I’ve been to…

I’m not a huge fan of shopping when a store opens on Black Friday although my wife goes with her sister and mother… a couple of years ago I was at a TRU in time for their 4 am opening… last year I got a ride to a Walmart with my brother-in-law at 5:30 pm so I could buy the Walmart 4 packs.

I, for one, am not a fan of this whole Black Friday phenomenon. I think it exemplifies our culture of consumerism and conspicuous consumption. It would be nice to see people taking advantage of the holidays to relax and enjoy time with their families. Another aspect is that all these retail employees have to work crazy hours, get burned out, and miss opportunities to spend time with their families. I am sure there are many other view points on this.

I got some sort of Target toy book in the mail yesterday, with deals running through November 23. Pretty much nothing exciting in the Cars line though.

I wish Canada had a program like this….except for the trampling part.

It’s pretty crazy, yet fun at the same time. It takes about 10 minutes to get from one part of the store to the next. Also, we ate at Denny’s at 2:30 am and had to wait 30 minutes for a table. But, it’s become part of holiday tradition, and once we wake up we enjoy it 8)
