Disney Pixar CARS: The New Mater Books and Art of CARS 2
Still in pre order but shipping in 3 weeks, the collected stories of Mater Tall Tales Toons …
Mater Treasury of Tall Tales includes “novelizations” of Monster Truck Wrestling, PI mater and Moon Mater and all the stories from the first two Mater books.
So if you have these two below, only 33% of the book is new but at $8.76, it’s less than a $1 per story. 🙂 But if you’ve held out, now you can own it all in one volume.
Mater’s Tall Tales is the kid’s novelization of the first three CARS TOONS shorts: Mater the Greater, El Materdor & Rescue Squad Mater.Â
The second volume called Heavy Metal Mater & other Tall Tales feature the novelizations (for kids) the following shorts: Tokyo Mater, Unidentified Flying Mater & Heavy Metal Mater.

Coming out in May in 3D is Monster Truck Mater – presumably “further” adventures of Wrasslin’ Mater?
And available for pre-order but no date is ART OF CARS 2 – probably be out the week or just after the film is released, in late June 2011.

Got the new Mater book…works well as an “Art of Cars Toons” book. Some of the images are a little soft, and there weren’t as many pix of the monster trucks as I had hoped, but a really nice book for the price.
Saw Yogi Bear this weekend and it had the regular (not teaser) trailer for Cars 2. My 3 year old was wanting to see the movie now. Looked good too.
Yogi Bear was a good movie BTW, despite what the critics said.
Any idea if there are any more Mater’s Tall Tales planned?
(MET: Yea, there was a post somewhere … I think there are clues for at least 3 more …).
I think I remember when MET talked about it… there was Moon Mater, Mater PI, and something else… a baseball one? A cowboy one? I have no idea.
Moon Mater and Mater PI are on the DVD. There both pretty good.

The Art of Cars (first)is an Awesome Book. I also recommend the Ratatouille one. Been thinking of the Kung FU Panda one (it is one of the few non-pixar animated movies that I really like)
Amazon.ca is saying The Art of Cars 2 is due out May 18, 2011.

Cars toons are leading up to cars 2.
Yes they have definitely used the Cars Toons to bridge the gap between movies while capitalizing on the success of the characters. I know there are supposedly more toons possibly being made, so I wonder how many more shorts they plan on making in the near future heading into Cars 2?
I am really looking forward to some of the releases from the newer shorts like Mater PI. There should be plenty of new releases to buy between now and June.
