Mattel Disney Pixar Diecast CARS: Last Call Target 9-Pack

Last official day of Thanksgiving-Black Friday-Buying Frenzy Weekend!

New animator Jeremy J. says hi and Happy Thanksgiving 2010! Time to close the books on the holiday – so don’t tarry … some Target’s have plenty on hand.

If you’re wavering, buy it anyway and keep the receipt next to it – you’ll only be sorry when the price goes back up to $39.99 TOMORROW or when this thing sells out and the price will be around $75 … LAST CALL! Last call at happy hour pricing …

If you still hate it in a week, then return it – you’re out nothing except some of your time but at least you won’t be crying over spilt Clutch Aid that you could’ve owned him for $2.21 a CAR plus a ginormous box that probably cost Mattel $8 million to ship all that air over from Asia.

Thanks for the nice pic Jeremy J.

Got mine! Plus, the kids will always find a use for the extra cars! 🙂

  • L8rM8r says:

I saw a few sets going out the door but they did have a lot left over. I picked up two sets on BF.

  • DDD says:

Just got back from Target. Thought the sets were cleaned out, then I saw the endcap…and then a second endcap. I stopped counting at 90 of them left…all $39.99. (I scanned one to be sure.) What now?

(MET: I would not be surprised if they went on sale again but probably not $19.99 until after Christmas – we’ll probably see $29.99 or $24.99 and then after Christmas, it’ll probably be $19.99 or a tad under again if any are left).

    • John in Missouri says:

If they ever reach Clearance, they’ll start at 25% off ($29.99). Then they would go to 30% off ($27.99) and 50% off ($19.99). The maximum Target ever marks down is 75% ($9.99). They would surely disappear then!

  • BMW says:

I bought 3 sets when they first came out, got the price adjustment on Friday no problem. The end cap was still pretty full as of Saturday. No sign of the new 5 pack Christmas set. Grey circle is there.

  • slicepie says:

Wow, I’m finding it very interesting that so many reports are coming in with 9-Packs in overabundance at so many stores. I got to my Target at 9am Friday and couldn’t find a 9-Pack anywhere. Went back yesterday in a second attempt and spotted the gray circle sticker on the price tag… 🙁

  • mike says:

i too just back from Target….. they had about 20 left of the 9 packs. And “deja vu” (the post before me) I returned 2 sets I bought a few weeks ago. …”slice of cake” $40 back.

Sadly my dad waited in line Friday morning to get a TV and the Cars 9 pack… i do not have the heart to tell him he could just walk in right now and get it.

  • Indykjt says:

Went into a Target here in Indy tonight, and they had at least 50 of these sets in three different places in the toy section. I see these sitting around for a long time.

I picked one up, bought it with cash, and immediately walked up to customer service to return it with my credit card that I purchased one with for full price several weeks ago… piece of cake to get $20 back!

  • FireFox91 says:

I am both a parent and a collector and I can understand why there are so many of these left on the shelf. I collect other toy lines for myself, the Disney Cars are for my 4 year old son. Needless to say he is getting an absurd number of cars for Christmas. He especially likes the racers. I thought briefly about getting this set for him but passed, even at $20. I already got him a bunch of other racers. This set comes with 3 cars that he already has multiples of. He will be getting the yellow #74 from the K-Mart rubber tire series. And the 4 cars across the top are the types of cars he won’t hardly ever play with. He is a kid so the main characters in the movie and of course the racers are the most important ones to him. So basically getting this set would only be for that 1 racer. While he might be hard to come by, that doesn’t really mean much to him or me. By the time Christmas is over, we will have 18 of the different racers. While that is about half of all of the ones ever made, that is a huge deal for a 4 year old. So this set essentially amounts to a $20 racer for us. Not worth it. I think a lot of other families might be in the same situation. If I was a collector of this line, I would be irritated and the number of duplicates you get stuck with. The number of standard red McQueens some of you guys have must be ridiculous.

  • Jeremy says:

Thanks take5 for sharing my illustration on the site! I’ve been thinking about Thanksgiving versions of our friends from Radiator Springs ever since I laid my eyes on the Christmas versions this year. Has anybody seen the vintage look wooden cars toys at TRU yet?

    http://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=10860527

They have all the main characters available in this wooden design. very cool!

    • NascarFan says:

yea someone else asked about them to the other day, they are here in our local stores but, ….. pass. not something that jumps out and grabs my attention

…….wooden Batmobile?…. yea… maybe give that a second, third look

    • oliversmom says:

I have seen plenty of those, kind of funky looking.
They should be compatible with wooden trucks…Thomas? I guess it was the idea. But I would not buy them myself. And I only saw Ramone Flo King abd Chick Hicks. Very “square” looking- just my opinion.

  • 5oclockshadow says:

Office Depot will have a coupon in their flyer tomorrow for a 25% discount mailing one package using USPS or UPS.

Might come in handy if you have any large packages about to be mailed. Especially if they are going overseas.

  • Simon says:

Hi, is anyone able to pick up one of these for me. I’d like figures removed and shipped to the uk. I could pay by paypal

  • babychristianscars says:

4 cars for $20 is $5 a car and final laps are $6 each.

This is a bargain set and I’m thankful for Jeff for finding me one.

And the best is the extra cars you can make customs from or better yet donate to a little one just learning bout cars.

  • Rebecca says:

I couldn’t see getting this for 4 cars even for $20. More like 3 because my son has dashboard already. 🙁

    Rebecca

    • John in Missouri says:

Lenticular Tim Rimmer has been out for some time as well, so that leaves 2 new ones in this set.

There are SO MANY of these in the 3 Target’s that I was at this afternoon/evening, if they go back to $40 each tomorrow, we will surely see them on clearance VERY SOON after Christmas.

  • NascarFan says:

Unless you have seen this set, I think those that haven’t are underrating it. Its a nice set.

  • por356 says:

I bought a second set today. I pulled all of the original Cars out and substitued others. It is a nice display box.

Now I just have to make sure that I don’t accidently return that box! I would really be crying in my beer if that happened. 🙂

  • Steve AKA: Poppa says:

Even with the $19.99 price tag there wasn’t even a dent made in the endcap display. The cell phone conversations I heard seemed to go along the way of the kids has all or most of the racers and it wasn’t worth getting the nine back for the others. The parents seemed to be more concerned spending their dollars elsewhere for the moment at least. Minor characters may be a tough sell for the casual toy buyer. I have a ten dollar gift card from buyer printer ink, so $9.99 for nine Cars is a good deal for me right now!

    • 5oclockshadow says:

Looks like most people passed this deal over around here too. The endcap and top shelf are still full. They also had a nice stack of Octane Gain crew sets (no Bumper Save though), and 4 of the HMM 4 packs, but they were regular price. I think these may sell a little better now that parents will be looking for extra stuff to fill up the Christmas tree, but not if they raise the price back up to $40. I forsee a $9.98/$14.98 after Christmas clearance coming.

  • PVHauler_16 says:

I think this may be worth something in the future. Remember when Target had like 12 Dinoco 400 sets clearenced for $6 each or so? Now, search for one on eBay.
