Are we not doing something right? Just put it together for our 5 year old birthday and Ramone is not changing colors….do I need to add food coloring?

    • bobbyjack says:

All our color changers stopped working a few months after we got them. Even tried freezing them and they still wouldn’t work. If you picked up a Ramone’s House of Body Art that has been sitting out on a shelf for over a year, that might be the problem. As long as you have a cup full of ice water and one with warm water, they should work though.

      • jestrjef says:

Yes, ice water and warm water are needed. We make a bowl of ice water to sit on the edge of the tub so our son can making them change colors. Its all good until the ice water dumps on him in the tub!! πŸ˜†

        • bobbyjack says:

We use them in the Hot Tub and the ice doesn’t last very long either. For some reason my kids think it is funny to dump the ice in the water and watch it melt instantly!

  • John in Missouri says:

    Has anyone seen these yet???

  • Lara says:

When are the new color changers going to be in stores. My son has been waiting for a Sally for months.

  • sloths14 says:

Like some of the above, I was interested, but my son loves to play with them in the tub.

I am now having the same problem, after weeks/months of use though, they aren’t working anymore.
Also, he got a new color changer Sarge today and it didn’t work.

  • buckland-blowouts says:

FINALLY saw the commercial on TV for these guys today, and I felt like a kid again that simply “Had to have it”!!!

The way they change colors looks really neat compared to want I remember it being like as a kid… And anything to do with Rockin’ Ramone cannot be half bad either!

I am keeping myself from going to Waltmart anytime soon!!!

  • AScreaminWhat says:

Personally, I’m waiting for the new lenticular color changers…. NOT!
More final lap please, so I can evetually stop collecting without going bankrupt.

  • kerner7777 says:

Red is big for a color changer.

  • Monica says:

My kids love these things. I probably won’t buy many more of them though. Sally is a must!

  • BasicCollector says:

    NO MORE COLOR CHANGERS!!!!

    NO MORE LENTICULARS!!!!!

    DEATH TO BOTH OF THEM!!!!!!

MORE OF THE FINAL LAP ONES THAT KEEP SELLING OUT!!!!!!

  • Roswell says:

yay! these are just what we all wanted!!!
thank you mattel for listening to your loyal fans!!!

    wait, no, the other thing…

…these are NOT what we want, we want FINAL LAP NON STUPID EYED CARS!!!!
    Bad Mattel!!!

  • Jinzo says:

If Mattel insist on releasing different colors on existing Cars… can’t they at least add them to the lenticular line & make them diecast and create another number for it? Say…. Sally (Purple) #151. But these… wow…
At my location… the sell more Burn Lightning Mcqueens that these Color Changers… now that is really sad

  • Eric says:

I gotta tell you, I was a huge hater of these before they actually came out. My son decided to spend some of his birthday $ on these (a mistake I thought at the time). Turns out they are pretty darn cool. At least he thinks so. I am still a little blown away at the $6 price point for a plastic car, but they are honestly done really well (and they work on all of the battery powered speed ways that seem to not work so well with metal cars). Of course if you are a grown up collector, or your kids are older than say 4, these may not be for you. Cars has finally made it into the final frontier … the bathtub.

  • Mike H says:

Looks like Sally won a golden gasket from Villy Volkswagen’s candy factory, and tried the gum…and got to the dessert.

  • These should knock the lenticulars out of the water any day!

  • lou says:

any news on launchers, isn’t faux wheel and tach-o-mint supposed to e coming??

  • 5oclockshadow says:

These color changers have been selling out around my area while the lenticulars and Car Toons just sit there …. I would expect to see a lot more of these down the line….

  • Axle and Sally look awesome! Bob Cutlass looks a bit lenticular. Tow looks okay.

  • Okay, these (as in all CARS toys) were always intended for little kids and not die-cast collectors like most of us who chortle about their wishes and whims here.
I myself cannot stand looking at them (as in color changers)when I stumble over them in the stores; all plastic (or whatever) and no shine (or nickel) or quality. I see the same ones everyday.
If they don’t change colors for a very long, they are just a continuation of Mattel’s planned suckification of their product.
Now that Mattel knows that there is a captured audience both young and old for CARS, Mattel will crank out more crap for every last penny available.
Mattel: If it is good, let’s bleed it a little more .
%#@! Mattel would sell S*** on a stick if they could.
My advise is to ignore all that you deplore and maybe it will go away.
    Lenticulars, color changers, anything non-canon…

    …Maybe…
BTW: be strong and fight the urge to buy anything, especially stuff less than top quality.

    • mike says:

i hear you… mattel is starting to remind me of every other collectible market before it…. smash it to the ground while the chumps keep buying the crap.

  • Jon says:

My kids love these…for about 3 days until the colors stop changing and now we have a plastic car. Pricey for 3 days worth of fun!

    Jon

    • cars-in-your-eyes says:

Apparently if you put them in the freezer it helps them work again!? Not tried myself as haven’t got into the colour changers.

      • Bob Eckel/TheeNaughty Knight says:

Yep! Should have went to Dairy Queen, and picked up a Cake too! Then instead of reaching in the freezer for a half color frozen Car, could have had Cake and ate it too!

  • Rippers says:

    Bob Cutlass looks lenticular ready!

  • Indykjt says:

Is it me, or does the Bob Cutlass one look lenticular-ready?

(MET: You know it to be true … πŸ˜† ).

  • clasp99 says:

i saw some color change two packs with a special color change tool for $13. What a crock! anyone elsse see these?

  • Bob Eckel/TheeNaughty Knight says:

Children… READ MY LIPS and OPEN YOUR EARS… “NO”! Well, at least not until we go to Dairy Queen! (maybe by then they will forget all about it)

  • collectormom says:

Now this stinks; its going to be a lot harder to tell my kids no on the color changers when Axel and Sally are so cute
