Mattel Disney Pixar Diecast CARS: Heavy Metal Mater Sneak …

Mater Tall Tales: Heavy Metal Mater premiered in France on Channel TF1 the other day.

David V. points out it’s posted online but only if your “internet address” range is in France.

It’s all in French and actually titled, “Heavy Metal Martin,” as Mater is known in France.

However, with David’s help, we were able to grab some screen snapshots so if you don’t mind some spoiler pics and some sneaks of diecasts, keep scrolling!

The list of diecasts are short and incomplete but here are some screen snaps of probable CARS and some definite ones.

SPOILER ALERT:

Mater has a garage band.

Guitarist Pitty

Add some bass.

Mater & the Gas Caps play a gig at the Top Down Truck Stop.

Guess who works the late, late shift?

The band goes into the studio.

They discover a new sound …

A promoter well, promotes them into stadium stars …

It’s Heavy Metal Martin! Well, Mater …

And you need a gimmick …

And you was there …

And the girls are back in town …

And the band rock ‘n rolled all night and …

Until the flying pig mater came home to roost … that will make sense when you see the short – can’t give everything away 🙂

So, what’s definitely listed as diecasts: Heavy Metal Mater, Rock McQueen, Studio Pitty’s, Pitty Drummer & Tex Promoter … no info on megasize or 4-packs but then they probably won’t be out until late spring or early summer.

Rock on, Mater.

Party on, McQueen.

Thanks David V. for the heads up & screen shots.

  • I have not seen this Tall Tale yet.

  • Nascarfan says:

This song looks like it could be:

    “You Got Another Thing Comin”

  • applefinatic says:

France get SomethinG FIRST!!! :O Anyway i can’t wait for this and when does it come out for the U.S.

  • buckland-blowouts says:

Am I the only one who noticed that Tia and Mia have a sign on their heads marked “TOP DOWN”?!?!?!?!?!?!

Enough with them showin’ off their headlights already…

I am surprised they didn’t throw their catalytic converters on the stage!!!

  • Jeff says:

Well, can somebody from France just download the video from that website and post it on YouTube already?

(MET: Disney will just ask for its removal very quickly plus you get a ding from YT).

  • Seanus says:

They need to release the Mater with the bat wings in the first picture. To scale and everything.
    SDCC 2010 maybe?

  • John in Missouri says:

MET, the truck stop photo isn’t there anymore.

(MET: Looks okay here … Refresh?)

  • CaptainChunk says:

Thoroughly enjoy the MTT shows and toys myself. They’ve become my primary interest in collecting now that the mainline has become such a convoluted mess.

Tried a number of foreign anonymous proxies so far, but no luck getting the French video to play. Bummer

  • Jinzo says:

Must stop…. buying Cars… my wallet can’t take no more…. 🙁 LOL These looks nice. Can’t wait!

  • kdthomas says:

I definately won’t be “collecting them all” until they make the original line movie line more available. If they can produce 2 million Burnt Lightning McQueens to go around they can just as easily produce enough Polly Puddlejumpers to go around.

  • iamspeed says:

As much as I like the MTT line, it’s really starting to look more like “filler” to bridge the gap until CARS 2.

How many more MTT stories will we see before the merchandise from the first movie is complete(if ever), not to mention before the release of CARS 2?

    • BMW says:

Based on what I saw yesterday at a Walmart here, the MTT singles were clogging the pegs. Do not think they are selling well to the general public. The toons seem to be filler merchandise that has not caught on very well here anyway. As for lenticulars, there were so many, that this Walmart had the aisle cube, the end cap shelves, and pegs in three locations spread throughout the diecast cars sections. It was shocking to see so many in one place. Maybe a couple of hundred. All were the older design Look cars. I did see one of the new blue nightscene ones on the peg. Maybe those are selling better.

      • kdthomas says:

Same thing at my closest Super Wal-Mart. I’ve been going almost daily to find the new Security SUV and they had a small selection of LAME (Look at my Eyes) cars and the MTT section had gone down to about 2 items. They brought in about 3 pegs full of Lightyear Launchers….then over night they put out so many LAME cars they were literally piling them on top of each other on the bottom shelf not caring if they got damaged or not. Seemed as if these were taking up space for a new shipment and they wanted to get rid of these to clear space in the back.

Another store did the same thing. They had an end cap filled from top to bottom with around 300-400 LAME’s… It will probably take around 6 months before they put anything new out. Wonder how long it takes them to decide to sell these off to Big Lots or 99 sent stores?

My Target has completely stopped carrying the LAME one. They are preferring empty pegs and occasionally putting out Final Lap. By the time I get there it’s ones that I already have.

    • Jeff says:

As far as I know there are 7 toons scheduled, 6 already released.

  • John in Missouri says:

I wish they would have done a 60’s flashback short instead.

Mater would have claimed he was the 5th Beetle, but the other guys kicked him out of the band for missing their appearance on the Edsellivan Show.

It turns out Fillmore gave him bad directions to New York City, and Mater wound up in a little farming community called Woodstock, where he put on a show for 500,000 of his closest friends.

All went well until the Hell’s Angels Motorcycles started threatening to slash tires, and Lightning McQueen was put in charge of security.

    • nikko says:

John I must say that has to be one of the beat ideas so far. I could actually picture everything that was going on and I must say hands down I loved it. Keep the imagination coming. Collect them all

    • WillsCars says:

I really like that idea for Mater tale! If they made it, they would probably call the band something like Autobugs (4 Mini Coopers with mop top haircuts or did the Beetles have long hair by the time of Woodstock?) and Mater would have played at Carstock. I’m picturing an audience with plenty of VW bugs and Old school buses. Naturally Mia and Tia would be flower children! 🙂

  • MackDaddy says:

Too many tiny pittys. But love the outfits and will definitely need the Slash look-a-like pitty! Reminds me of the California raisins dudes! (Queue the “Heard it through the grapevine” theme) 😎

  • moe says:

Very nice. Will definitly get these too!!

  • John in Missouri says:

All those canonists out there will HAVE to break for this line of toys!

  • alana says:

just love the tongue on the green pitty!

  • Kevin W says:

Wow! Maybe we finally get a newish Mater without his hood?

The style of the pictures seems a little different than in past videos. They seem less realistic and more cartoony. A question to those who have seen the video: Does the picture stye seem different to you?
