I wish I could find the commmerical to watch, with Wally Hauler talking to Mater
anyone know where I can find that? I can find the open and state farm commercials but I cant find the walmart one on youtube
I found this at Walmart today… They had about 10 on the shelf. 🙂

And the very first time I saw Wally was on the huge poster than when the dvd came out he is on the back of the special 2 pack set I bought.
I just hit up the closets 24-hour Super Wal-Mart and they didn’t have any in stock. They had 10 Al Oft Blimps 🙁 Asked a clerk to check in the back and she called a manager who walked me over to their frieght. Low and behold they had 2 boxs (6 Wallys each inside). He kindly opened up the box and gave me one. If it was only this easy every time…
As predicted, most of the “reset” Walmarts are having difficulty finding space for the Toons vehicles, no to mention where are they going to put the upcoming shipments of stuff that Met posted?
Most of our Walmarts have only ONE end cap(facing the main aisle), if they even have the one. The “wall” end of the aisle has no end cap, maybe a pegboard, but certainly nothing like the space they used to have for seasonal “overload”. Where an aisle used to be divided in two, now it’s just one LONG aisle, and a LOT less room.
Walmart, what were you thinking?
Only one of my Wal-Marts has an end cap and it’s facing the back wall. It has exactly the same castings week after week after week. I must be the only person who knows it is there!

(MET: Yes, Mattel made a special case for WM – only Wally Haulers … 6 in a box. WM’s are getting 2-4 cases. If the geeks request it, I’ll give you the case code 🙂 ).

You don’t need a shirt in Florida at the moment, that’s for sure… it’s been 88 – 90 for the past two weeks!
I still cannot figure Wally’s popularity. It does not appear in the movie. Throw it in a box and voila- Cars related. Why not TRU logos, etc? Wally is good for stripping the paint and customizing a trailer that has not yet appeared.
(MET: Wally appeared in a TV ad, was in the Sunday ad circular and on the WM CARS poster).
It’s just an oddity, I guess. Why do we buy Simpsons Monopoly, or erasers shaped like food, or snack containers shaped like Oreo cookies, or robotic vaccuum cleaners, or Cars VCR’s? They’re funny cause they’re odd. And I still want a Wally hauler!!!
Don’t forget, he was on one of the big posters promoting Walmart(as well as the CARS movie) so he does have a history relating him to CARS.
Yeah, but it’s a stretch. What wasn’t promoting the movie? The first thing I ever saw promoting the movie in stores was a stand alone display at Fred Meyer. Didn’t need Wally to grab the Desert 12 backs up! Maybe Cars II will have Wally stuck in the background running over some mom and pop toy store Car. Except for the packaging and the load, there is nothing to connect Wally to the movie. Just my personal opinion. 🙂
Sure, if you convince Mattel to make a special hauler for you, why wouldn’t you use it? It surely hasn’t done Wal-Mart any good. It has the worst assortments and lines of all the major retailers. I just hope Pixar does not sell itself out to the concept of product placement in Cars II. Stick a little Coca Cola, Pepsi, Dr. Pepper, etc car somewhere in the background. Bring on the remake of ET with M&M’s.
When Cars was first released on DVD, Walmart sold a special limited edition 2 disc set. The 1st disc had the movie along with some extras. The second disc had more extras including the Rascal Flatts Cars-related music video and a “Making of” the video. On the back of the packaging for this second limited edition disc was the first appearance of the Wally Hauler that I can remember. So, I guess, in a way, you can say that it is tied to the DVD release of the movie. I can scan the back of my DVD if anyone is interested.
I agree this has nothing to do with Cars its really a custom. Why bother when there are so many haulers still to come out or even a crew chief and pitty for poor old Shifty Drug!
