UPDATE, “Betsy” notes the following message from a moderator on the Kmart.com site …
1) No Chase cars in this case
2) Retail price of this case is $95.76 (for 24 cars)
3) 19 of the 24 cars have normal eyes, and 5 have lenticular eyes
I’m just a messenger, I did NOT pack this case … so not as exciting as hoped …
So, the case of 24 will contain 19 of the 7 Piston Cup racers (with rubber tires) and the 5 of the CARS listed in the first grouping.
Of course, this list might be wrong but it’s probably not a good idea to bet any actual money that this list is incorrect. Looks like it’s been confirmed by the moderator.
No detailed information on the actual case pack such as 2 each of every Piston Cup racer plus 5 with 3 each? Of course, that’s the most logical pack but logic may not play into it so who knows, 1 Vinyl Toupee but 4 Trunk Fresh? Don’t know yet …

And yes, we were promised “2 new to market CARS” well, keep in mind that toy manufacturers do not consider re-releases of”exclusives” as re-releases so technically, three qualify …
N2O Cola is the most legitimate as it has only be available (outside the Motor Speedway of the South – EXCLUSIVE – doesn’t count anyway) as a TRU promo mail away CAR …
Re-Volting has only been available in the “exclusive” Target 4-pack (and still available on most Target shelves BTW) …
And Vinyl Toupee has only been available in the Target 8-pack of 2007 and as a UK only promo CAR of 2007 …
So, by the thinnest margin of technicality, these three “sneak in.” And really, technically, NONE of these Piston Cup racers CARS have been available on card with rubber tires in the Kmart Collector CARS Day 3 packaging so really “new!”
Since they are confirmed as lenticular, as noted in the comments, it is the first release of Yellow Ramone & Brand New Mater as lenticulars on card … I believe these would fall under the phrases that are not so much 100% logical such as FRESH FROZEN or NEW (packaging size).
Cue – “Like a Virgin.”
(And no, Lightning McQueen will NOT have rubber tires … some back in 2010 for the JL Series … maybe …).
And for those keeping score at home, the master carton is now 4 cases (of 24).

There is a few people that have them in hand on Ebay.
At the previous events, the neareast K-Mart store (which is a 30 minute drive) ONLY received 1x Master Box.
This time around, a Master Box ONLY has 4x cases inside.
Does that mean ONLY 4x sets per store?
Can someone here PLEASE contact K-Mart and tell them to ship MORE Master Boxes to each store!!!
Also, PLEASE remind the store employees who run the events that each person IS allowed to buy as much or as little they want – the person at our store said “pick 5x cars in 5 minutes and that is it, no more than 5x cars can be purchased”???
(MET: It varies – the store I went to the last two times got 4 master cartons which had 6 cases each (then) or @24 cases total).

I have asked this before and what I was told let me to believe that the contacts on the inside are on the design team, not the marketing/case assortment side. In other words, the people who decide case assortments couldn’t give a s*** less.
The amazing thing is that large corporations will pay marketing companies 10’s of thousands to hundreds of thousands, sometimes millions for information like this from market studies and focus groups. I just don’t get it?
i would like to say first thanks mattel for switching to these stupid eyes and starting cars allover again insteadof continuing to make new singles.Also why in the wolrd put these lenticular cars in a case with racers. and for all those people who go to these events where there are a lot of people this will now mean less cases to go around because i am sure this does not mean more master cases.

Well if nonbody’s happy in the US with the selection then we can always do the Cars Collectors day at Kmarts in Australia. I have SOS but I look at the Cars with rubber tyres as being ‘new’ or at least different and hence want for my collection.
But hey if you guys are all unhappy then we in Australia are willing to help out and have the event shifted to the Land Down Under.

I love reading through all the whinging and whining know that most of the people will eat their words and give in and buy far more than they said they would. I’ve seen it all before. They will all be snapped up. Most collectors will want at least one of each of the rubber tyre cars even if they are in denial now. 🙂
I see it as a good case, not brilliant, but certainly better that the ‘run of the mill’ single cases that we normally see (Case B lenticulars – 6 L. McQueens. I would definitely want at least 4 of each of the racers.

It’s not that we, in the USA, aren’t happy about having another Kmart day and we certainly are grateful for the opportunity. It’s just that the other two events had newly relelased cars in them and I think all of us the world over would love to see some new characters, rubber tires or not. I am sure there are going to be plenty of sets of the KM3 cars available here after the event for those that cannot attend because, of course, US collectors are going to go. It is a lack of excitement in getting an all new, never released in any way, car. You know, like most of us have experienced at any other retailer when new characters are on the street?

yes that is the whole point of polly pocket. The clothes are rubbery-silicon plastic and are stretched onto the teeny tiny doll – its only about 3″ tall. The shoes are only about 1/4″ long. Easy to accidentally vaccuum up those suckers.
Alright, I’ve calmed down. Guess I’ll buy a case and go to the event. Was going to buy two cases. Mattel loses on this one. And Kmart should be smarter when making the deal for exclusive cases.
I just hope that this doesn’t put Kmart Cars Collector Days IV, V, VI, VII in jeopardy. No way do these cases sellout. And again Mattel continues NOT to get it. I’m not trying to be a downer here, but in this economy when people are really watching their non-essential spending (I realize that this IS essential spending for some of us), Mattel has to be more insightful with regards to their customers want and desires.

with the low turnout of Kmart Day 2, and the negative reception Kmart Day 3 is getting already, I would think they would be seriously reconsidering a Kmart Days 4.

I have all of the racers with the exception of Rev-N-Go. Still I’ll be picking up all of them in store. Sad Kmart Day III…. They should’ve added Sidewall Shine since they added N2O Cola. I’ll probably buy 2 of each but don’t know yet… Is it too early to start thinking about Kmart Cars Day IV? ….. Apple car perhaps?? LOL 😀

I agree with Britt, if 19 out of the 24 Cars in the case assortment are Racers with Synthetic Rubber Tires than I do consider it a GOOD case as well. However, we were privileged in Kmart Days 1 to Edwin Kranks, Re-scaled Fred, and Chase Fred. We were privileged in Kmart Days 2 to Mini, Vitoline Pitty, and Chase Mario Andretti with Red Rims. This new Kmart Days 3 case just does not live up to those standards already set. It does not have that same feel to it. Lenticular Brand New Mater and Yellow Ramone just does not cut it. I would have preferred, even if Lenticular still, Cars previously already announced for release like Antonio Veloce Eccellente, N2O Cola Pitty, and Chase Blue Ransburg King or Chase King with Piston Cup at least. Now that would have made it a GREAT case in line with the previous ones. It would have knocked it out of the ballpark, made sense, and we would all be singing a different tune right now.
I’d only be getting 1 car if it weren’t for the rubber tires. Now it is 7.

My hypothesis was that the extra 5 cars would be lenticular and that there would be one chase car and one pitty….at least I was half right. I am pretty dissapointed that who ever is making case assortment decisions considers adding a lenticular sticker to a car makes it “New to Market”.
I am thinking about not taking part in the pre sale or the event due to the huge crowd (trust me in Orange County it will still be huge). Depending on the kindness of others to get the racers might be the way to go. I REALLY don’t want the other 5 cars in the case. They will be impossible to sell or trade I think I would rather pay some one shipping and paypal fees to buy the racers for me.

I think it is really interesting that there will only be 5 lenticulars in the case instead of multiples. Sounds good to me! Make that 10 cars for me to buy! Still not 24… but 10/24 is better than none 🙂
I’m happy to be able to pick up more of the piston cup racers for $3.59. But I think this time I’ll just go to Kmart and get the cars that I want instead of ordering a full case.
Well I will still be going, and I hope turnout is poor! That way I can get what I need, and what my friends need and go home 🙂 I see no reason to preorder these puppies… waste of shipping and case space.

Here we go again with the presale nonsense. Ive said it before and Ill say it again, I am never going to preorder from Kmart again. I just recently got my money back from the order i cancelled from the previous presale and had my bank fight with them to get it. Im not going to put myself to that Kmart Krap again. BTW Kmart my buddy got stuck with 5 mcqueens and 3 pattis on the last preorder maybe you should do some quality control checking before shipping them out. Thank God for Toys R Us and Target. Ill take my chances finding these cars that i already have (only difference is the tires of course) on the pegs or even on Ebay. Yes i still hate Kmart.
Sorry you had problems on the last preorder, but I personally am VERY thankful for it, and will order again this time…although only one this time, since nothing REALLY new in it!
As far as quality control….the had nothing to do with Kmart, it was a Mattel mistake…could you imagine open 10,000 cases beforehand to ensure they were correct? And then dealing with crazy’s who are mad that their case was opened??
Mattel has once again proven they are the master at making money….sadly, I know how they could make even more money, but they aren;t listening!!
Yes, that is really “shooting the messenger” when you blame Kmart for the case errors when it’s Mattel that packed the cases.
As PD stated, if I’d received the multiple cases that I’d ordered in June and they’d been RESEALED I’d have been irate! Now, as luck would have it, all of those cases were correct, so I had no issue with incorrect case contents.
I sympathize with your issue with the case contents, but that truly was the fault of Mattel, NOT Kmart.
What happened in a factory thousands of miles away in China cannot be blamed on the retailer at this end, no matter who it is.
Yeah i guess both are you are right about the cases being checked but im still mad at Kmart for taking months for returning my money and wouldnt respond to any of my emails or phone calls. Glad my bank took care of it. Slowly but surely i got my money back last week. Still glad Toys R Us and Target sell these cars there great. I remember KB Toys had them too may they Rest in Peace. Just needed to blow off some steam thanks guys.
Hummm as an after thought, If K-Mart gave us all the missing cars for K-3 day, WHAT in the world would they give us for K-4 day… Oh, an advance copy of the up and comming “CARS 2” for $7.95 with 24 new cars never befor seen except in the movie to include Toyko Mater… Just an idea!

That happened during KMart Day 1. The Mattel Rep that was supervising that day didn’t even realize it until it was too late.
There might be five on that list that I’d like to have on their own cards, Vinyl Toupee, Rev-N-Go, N20 Cola, Octain Gain, and Re-Volting. I already have them “loose” from sets, launchers, or promos, but it will be nice to have them carded as well.
*Why not throw in a VHTF that never had his own card, like Fiber Fuel???

This is a not a good case for no real new cars. I think they believe buyers will buy these up but nothing good in the case except for N20 Cola, but they were easy to get at TRU but with rubber tires now. Maybe this case will be different, but if not, turnout will be bad at Kmart and no reason to rush. Can we say, pegwarmers!!

Maybe for these special cases they should do:
4 Racers (with at least 3 being new or not recently available)
3 Pittys (matching the 4 racers or not)
1 Main Character Car (re-released but with rubber tyres)
4 Other Cars (flashback cars/pit crew chiefs/random background cars ect)
and maybe one in every 100 cases gets a solid gold Mater! 😀

The 2 “New to Market” Cars are Brand New Mater and Yellow Ramone and they will be Lenticular. These 2 have not been released as Lenticulars before.

K Day 1 fabulous case, KDay 2 excellent assortment, KDay 3 not a single new car at all, all repeats, except for the tires?
My disappointment is primarily with the “other” 5 cars listed — the 7 racers were predetermined many months ago as the unofficial list of these 7 racers has been circulating since around Feb. I just really thought they would do better by adding a good chase car or maybe a Final Lap car to each case – something to entice me to preorder cases!
Yes, I know about the 7, its just that with these 7, there are only 16 racers on rubber tires, and now am wondering if Mattel will complete the rubber tire racer selection. Here is my article on the racers.

Wow, nice that they are doing this but still feel a little disappointed. I guess I can pick up an extra N2O Cola car so I won’t be tempted to open my one in the case. The positive out of this is I will only be spending $3.99 on October 17th.

Well, this would be the SECOND “K” day this year so it is really a “BONUS” not a “BONE”!
However, the way I see it, thousands of buyers are NOT going to rush for the cases pre-ordered this time, to get in the dreaded lines that weren’t there last time…only to find, very few cases, and back to even larger lines!
Because this time the “K” stores kept back extra cases to fill orders, that don’t happen, and everyone will LOSE this time!
However, all may not be lost because in about a month, all of those cases that weren’t pre-ordered or available in the store will magically pop up just before Christmas! But then again, I am just a fiction writer lol.
This is Mattel’s way of avoiding all the screw-ups they had with case pre-orders during the last event. Simply create cases that no one wants to pre-order. Problem solved.
If the Racers are the small size packaging like the lenticulars.. does that means that the peg warmers they have stuck in will probably be lenticulars?
