Mattel Disney Pixar Diecast CARS: Encore! Encore! Playsets! Encore!

Our old friends have returned wearing new clothes … boxes …

radiator-springs

Interesting they don’t point out in large letters that Mater is not included … maybe on the back?

luigi

Luigi’s box does point that not are vehicles not included but ‘subject to availability’ though of course, Guido should be easy to find at TRU.  🙂

mack

And Mack in his 4th version?

Thanks Lenin for the playset photos.

Thanks GreG for the Mack photo.

    SimiBill,

Been there, done that, sketched them already 🙂 I’ve done about 3 versions of a Cozy Cone play set todate.

I would tool these up tomorrow but it’s not my call. 🙁

See no evil, hear no evil do no evil. 3 little monkey’s jumping on the bed………, one fell down and hit his head 😉

    Where are the new playsets?

    Cozy Cone
    Drive In
    Red’s Firestation
    Courtroom
    Fillmore’s Organics
    Sarge’s Surplus
    Los Angeles Motor Speedway

What good are hundreds of Cars if there’s only four playsets?

If you need some others pics from the mack playset make tjem, just ask me…

    AceDiamond,

These set were done before I the Cars line came to me so I can’t take credit or blame for these 🙂 There is a very interesting story behind them that I’ll share one day. Ask me @ SDCC if you want to know.

If Matty wasn’t in a Cars Coma I wanted to do a giant backdrop (think huge diorama like movie fronts) of Radiator Springs to sell as an enviornment. All painted up properly and such.

Could be cool, customer assembled. Oh well. Matty got run over by Frank…………….

    • Thanks for the reply – and I never believed for a second you were behind the original RS playset designs. Wish I were doing the SDCC thing to hear the story…but I’ll definitely take a rain check. I plan to apply the money I’m saving on travel toward an extra Rescue Squad Mater set or two from Matty (wish me luck).

I just bought 3 Elvises (Elvi?)…not for resale but because they’re so cool and to give one to my son on his b-day. Keep up the great work!

I just saw these new playsets yesterday. I also got a Patti and Todd at the same TRU. It was a strange day at TRU.

  • Heap of Trouble says:

The Mack box is new but the Carwash with Lightning is at K-mart since last Christmas; just Mack as Car wash at TRU. My grandson loves this Mack the best and always has two or three cars parked in it for service. We have all but Lizzie’s curio, I see the value as far as a complete street but I don’t see the play value for Lizzie.

    • Ace Diamondrunner says:

Not a whole lotta play value for any of the playsets if you ask me…Mack is far more interesting and diverse in activities (and the least expensive playset when we bought him).

      Order of play value:

      1) Mack
      2) Flo’s V8 Cafe
      3) Luigi’s Casa della Tires – only because the wheel spinning toy is fun (that lift/ramp thing? Fuggedaboutit!)
      4) Ramone’s House of Body Art (“lift goes up, lift goes down, lift goes up…” and “you spin my CAR round baby, right round!”)
      5) Lizzie’s Curio Sop – Haven’t even bought it, it looked so lame. And a good thing I didn’t spend $150 on eBay for one after Xmas 2008 when they couldn’t be found anywhere.

I honestly believe these playsets are not worthy of the CARS they sell them for. My kids only play with them as scenery – literally. They set up “Radiator Springs” and then play with the cars everywhere BUT the playsets.

Just my two cents, plus $24.95 for each playset. 🙂

  • Daniel says:

Why is Mater pictured? It’s Lizzie’s Curio Shop.

I guess Lizzie was “subject to availability”.

  • djbennett22 says:

is there going to be the other ones to cause i hevent any playsets yet but there anty any toysr us anywhere

  • cars-in-your-eyes says:

These are awesome. I am so glad they are coming back. I hope they make it to the UK!
