Mattel Disney Pixar Diecast CARS: Unboxing Pics Todd-Pizza Planet, Patti & Frank the Combine

If you love them, set them FREEEEEEE ….

Josh brgr2313 was kind enough to take some great shots …

See, it can pay off to live a block away from the Mattel warehouse 🙂

frank

Yep, Frank is definitely MEGASIZED – no doubt about it.

frank1

Who’s still protesting the lull? Anyone? Anyone? 🙂

frank-box

Megasized – from the “other” factory …

patti

Odd Pixar photo/CGI of Patti – was that Fred that rammed her door a couple times? Thankfully, it’s not replicated on the diecast … some details we can live without.

BTW, Patti will no longer be available with Mario in a Movie Moment. But she will return in the Kmart CARS Day II case.

todd

Was Todd a stunt car in all the other Pixar movies? The dude is beat up … but glad to see ya dude and not just for the pizzas …

impound

And now the return of CHASE Impound McQueen …

Whaa??????????????????????????????

Suddenly those confetti-less Impound McQueen’s have dropped in value …

And so much for the 20,000 production run rule (well, 20k for the confetti blister Impound McQueen – this is SO NOT that CAR … it’s SOOOOO different*).

* Quote from Matty’s lawyer … you know the one who graduated from WyTech Lawyering School.

So, here’s your confetti less CHASE Impound Lightning McQueen! Limited, will never return to an H CASE in 2009 released in a month with only 3 letters … EVER!

Apparently they are slicing their pronouncement that no CHASE CAR will return as a Mainline release to mean that it will not return in any packaging other than a banner snipe that says CHASE.

O Rly?

To once again, steal a quote from PRINCESS BRIDE, “I do not think it means what you think it means.”

The bigger picture is that something marked CHASE doesn’t really mean much of anything but if it means absolutely nothing, why even have a CHASE “scenario?”

h-box-open

Yea, lotsa McQ’s but with Todd & Patti and other recent CARS – it’s like fried chicken at a buffet, not the best but hey, still fried chicken …

So, Josh brgr2313 – thanks for the great unboxing pics.

Here’s hoping these show up at your stores next week and each store gets 10 boxes.

Okay, that might be outlandish wishful thinking but hey, anything is possible – after all, kids grow up in a world today where there’s ketchup cake.

It wilbe KillerWhaleFan#1, cause hey who dosen’t LOOOOOOOVVVVEEEEEEE Killer whales! After 2 months of being applefinatic I need to change. (P.S. after about 2 months of being KillerWhalefan#1 I will chane my name to PizzaPlanet-30MINorLESSorYourMoneyBack!)

  • Jeff says:

This case assortment seems unnecessary. With the CARS Day at KMart approaching, none of these cars seem necessary to me. Just more junk to clog the pegs.

  • orbles says:

I just found these at WalMart in Spokane WA, so be on the look out, they will be there very soon.

  • acuransx says:

    MikeH,

In my opinion John Lasseter is one of the most creative people on this planet and I feel lucky that he actually knows my name………….. End of story. 🙂

The issues we have with what you can find @ retail are out of my control as is it not my R & R ( Role/Responsibilty ).

If anyone can fix this maybe it’s JL, I’m just a scrub.

Sure wish things were better. 🙁

I think these chase cars are the ones that were to come to Canada but have been dropped from Mattel Canada. We have not received any ROR singles and will not be. The next new singles that we are expecting will be in August 09 with the Lenticular Series.
So in my opinion, you should be happy that they are remixing the cars and not resending out old cases to you!

  • acuransx says:

Yesterday I double checked with my Marketing counterparts and was told Chase will NEVER go mainline and the quota was 20k max.

That was the deal we made with JL. If that rule was broken it wasn’t on me……………..maybe somebody messed up.

Curious on these pics as I haven’t even seen Frank in package yet. Are these hot?

    • Mike H says:

      acuransx,

That’s interesting to know. Are there any other ‘possible breaches’ of JL’s deal? I’m really considering sending an itemized listing to his PIXAR address in regards to a number of issues that so far have included:

      1) Case distribution snafus.

      2) Limited-Edition exclusive vehicles not meeting scheduled release.

      3) Possible shortcuts regarding quality control.

Maybe that could be a Cars Community project. I still think it would be good to get some testimonials from different persons who are fans but have had their hopes and dreams tarnished by how Mattel seems to have sidelined this series.

I know that Lasseter is a man who wants quality (like in ‘The PIXAR Story.’ Given the first pass on the film, and that they still had to release the film at the end of 1999, the Disney company at the time said of the ‘mediocre’ first pass that the film ‘was good enough,’ but Lasseter was not going to accept ‘good enough’).

Great pictures… thanks for sharing… I’m only going to be ordering one of the H singles cases… and I’ll be sending a lot of the extras to the Cars Cares program.

Now the Mega Size H case, that’s another story. With 3 of 6 items brand new (Frank), and 1 item in its second case (RPM Semi), that’s a great distribution. Now if only the singles could be distributed in the same manner… I can only imagine 9 new Cars out of 18…

    Come on Mattel

  • TarheelBill says:

I may never see these in our area WMs. They all just fully stocked singles with the old WOC cards, even the little Lightyear Blimps. 😕 It is like the PEGWARMER HALL OF FAME !!!

  • John in Missouri says:

OK, final comment, but the only thing that would make the quantity of McQueen’s in this case bearable, would be the chef from Sesame Street who used to fall down the stairs after singing how many cakes he was holding. Eighhhhhhhht Lightningggggg McQueeeeeeeen’s… whoah, ohhh, slip, tumble tumble fall…

  • John in Missouri says:

OK, since I have become known for not liking the Mini’s, let me just say that this Frank would fit in very nicely with the Mini’s. The package should say Mini Size, not Mega Size. 😉

    • TJH-AZ says:

Yep. Here we go again with the scale thing. I guess when you’re not talking about “replicas”, scale is irrelevant. Since Frank doesn’t really exist, nor has he ever, then scale doesn’t matter. Frank is thrown into the production formula of design vs labor vs materials vs packaging vs shipping vs retail pricing and viola, here’s Frank. And then the suits look at the prototype and say, “ahh, good enough”. So off it goes to production.

  • racerguy says:

I have thought all along that more than 20,000 Chase cars are produced. Seriously, I know that they didn’t go to some stores, and not at all to Canada, but a lot of people reported finding a bunch of these, me included. I never once believed these were limited to 20,000. And “Never to be released again as a mainline release!”: right. I don’t appreciate having been told a bunch of times that I was wrong about the number of production and then turn out to be right. Either Mattel should have stuck to their word or admitted their “goof”. Now for the positive things. At least there are 3 Franks to a case; I know he will still be next to impossible to find, but I still have never seen Elvis, and only a few Milton Calypeers, which happened to be one to a case.

    • John in Missouri says:

Who’s to say that (say) 10,000 weren’t in the first case, and 10,000 more now? 20,000 cases is a LOT of cases.

      • John in Missouri says:

What I’m trying to say is this: did anyone actually audit the cases? Sure, we all saw a lot of these a few months ago, but does that add up to 20,000? Not necessarily. We’re all justifiably hard on Mattel, but maybe – just maybe – 20,000 were produced and released in 2 different case.

  • lost says:

45% of that case is mcqueen. If every store gets 10 cases that means 80 pegwarmer mcqueens, to stop the next 10 cases from being ordered.

    • Josh says:

Maybe they are clogging the lines because they don’t want to make anymore, and they are clogging it to hopefully get us to stop buying them. Something stinks about this whole thing…Maybe I have just seen too many conspiracy movies. You know what… I bet it is the Trilateral commission which was orchestrated by the Bilderberg group. Only some of you will know what I am talking about.

  • ScoobyDoo says:

Met, could it be that the Todd picture you have using before is a Megasize or 1:24 version? That one looks much better than this 1:43 version. With whiter plastic and more detailing on the rust. This one looks like the “prototype” from eBay. Truly disappointing.

(MET: The other photos are either the 1:55 one I took at SDCC or the official one from Mattel – only in 1:55 scale … I don’t have one in hand yet so …).

  • Shelby says:

    This is SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO exciting!!!!!

  • Terri says:

I have both these cases on order with CTC. I am excited about the Frank change and glad they added an extra Patti to the singles.

  • LiamsMom says:

I’m excited to be on the hunt again. I was bored. My son will be deliriously happy to get Frank.

  • 5oclockshadow says:

Frank, Todd – beautifully done! can’t wait to own.

Patti – still ugly. Passing on that one. Looks like someone punched her door.

Impound McQueen – feeling pretty betrayed

  • BMW says:

Yes, the most anticipated Cars in all of Cars History!

Please be rusty looking Todd. We like the Yo on the back bumper, and rusty front bumper! Hope the car looks half as good as the cardfront.

  • BMW says:

Wow!n Thank for the fine pictures!
