Mattel Disney Pixar Diecast CARS: OMG, Frank is (Almost) CASE H (ere)

It’s been a long wait with a lot of fakes, feints, and even some fainting but Frank is almost nearly here … it’s arriving in the warehouse early next week but there have been one change to CASE H …

frank-wm2

Sven was swapped out for this red dude above.

I think everyone can live with that, right? πŸ™‚

case-h2

Sven (3) was originally scheduled for CASE H but has been moved to the next case …

In other words …

sven-back1

I’ll be back …

So, hope you’re all okay with that.

Let’s see, we saw the movie on June 8, 2006 … so how many days have we been waiting for Frank? Should probably be in your hands on May 11, 2009? Β  πŸ˜†

Plus, they’ll be pegwarmers with all of youse that have dropped out, right? Β  πŸ˜†

It seems a litle strange because I’ve been led to believe that the Chase Characters are every where and are actualy peg warmers.

Who knows now? I sure don’t…………………..

  • christianscars says:

I only wish the chase cars and impound ones were easy to find.

I stupidly never bought the walmart hauler than read about jerry and the very next week there was jerry on the shelf and now I see jerry, octaine, chick and leakless every week.

The only hauler I truly love and would like to get is the walmart one I of course will buy the others but I only wish I had bought the walmart one when I saw it.

  • christianscars says:

How rare is an unrecalled sarge, I have a few mint in package and was just curious?

(MET: It’s hard to find but not exactly rare – it was available for about 20 months? While there were gaps in shipping, Sarge was pretty much included in every shipment for the first year so while it was always popular, you could not call it rare then or now … just the circumstances where secondary seller is difficult because if the recall).

  • acuransx says:

    TJHAZ & INDYKIT,

You both have very valid points, end of story and I sure wish I could help. Can not.

Wish Matty wasn’t in a coma but again, out of my control. After 27 years here you have to learn how to let go………if you don’t you’ll go crazy or just get wacked πŸ™

    Go Disney/Pixar Cars.

  • Indykjt says:

I see an awful lot of negative posts on this story… think about this carefully!

We are getting, arguably, two of the most anticipated Cars in this line, both hitting the warehouse in the same week!

    Frank and Todd!

Sure, there are case pack, and distribution issues, but who here still doesn;t have an Elvis, or any of the chase Cars, or the newest singles out of the last case? You may not have found them on the pegs, but with all the kind folks around here, most collections are close to being where the collectors want it.

So, let’s enjoy this line like we should be!

Martin and his team have done everything they can to bring these to us, in the way that we have all grown to love about this line. I am sure there is much more going on that we don’t see or hear, and Martin has done, is doing, all that he can.

Thanks Martin for these awesome toys! They look GREAT!

    • TJH-AZ says:

As I’m writing this, there are 39 comments to this post. I would say 5 are sort of negative, that doesn’t seem like “an aweful lot” to me, but we all judge differently.

Frank and Todd are “Arguably” the most anticipated cars to be released? Arguably, no doubt. While I’m sure there are plenty of “collectors” who will buy up Frank and Todd, I don’t see the general toy buying public scrambling to the retailers door to buy them. Sorry, just my opinion. I think Todd might have more fans out there who are just Pixar fans in general or pizza delivery people who want to ducktape him to their dashboards but in my opinion, Sarge is the most anticipated release.

And the oversize, hmmm, just about EVERY store I shop has Marco on the pegs. LSLM, is at about half. So this case IS bringing along some additional pegwarmers. And we all know that the more pegwarmers there are hanging, the slower the new cases are to arrive. It’s a good thing they’re packing 3 Franks to a case but maybe it should be 2 Franks and 2 RPM semi’s. Either way, I’m sure within a couple months Frank will be just like Dustin Mellows, a pegwarmer.

And as far as “who doesn’t have an Elvis, blah, blah, blah”. I don’t have an Elvis, or a Jerry. Those are the two that have been gobbled up as soon as they get unpacked. Those who read my notes know that I shop 13 WM’s and 11 Targets 3 times a week usually. Chase cars, well, most were easy to find, especially Chuki, but Impound Snot Rod, had to buy him off the trading forum. Race Damaged King, Greta, Hank were nearly impossible to find on the first round but now I can find them any day. Oh yeah, Sally w/ Cone, that was another hard one, as is Milton. But that is ALL due to case assortment.

“So, let’s enjoy this line like we should be!” What? The reason we’re NOT enjoying this line like we should be is that WE CAN’T find what we want on the pegs. Mattel has nothing to do with the internet, as Matty proves. So mentioning the trading forum or EBay or any other method of buying these outside of the retail channels is a joke. ALL of these items are retail items and should be found at the retail level. If we assume the minimum level of production is 20K, like the chase cars, then EVERY release should be as hard or easy to find as the next. But that’s NOT the case. i.e. Milton currently. No one should have to resort to buying ANYTHING off the internet that isn’t 10 years old or more. These items are CURRENT production models and yet for some they are impossible to find. That’s NOT a very good business practice. Nor is Mattels lack of interest in Canada. These production runs are for THE WORLD, not just the U.S. Something is amiss when Canada is starving for regular production run cars.

      • Indykjt says:

Well, I appreciate you taking my post apart piece by piece, when all I was trying to say is look at the positive side of things. Maybe 5 comments on this post, but in general lately there has been alot of negativity about case assortments, release schedules, availability, and more, most all valid complaints. I would rather read about the positive than the negative, but that’s just me. I will ALWAYS focus on the fun of this… that’s why I collect.

If things are that bad, and you are that upset with Mattel over these issues, and not enjoying collecting, why do you still collect this line?

You said in your own reply that the most of ones that are hard to find eventually become “pegwarmers”… and the new ones that many of us “collectors” are excited about likely won’t be to the general toy buying public. So, what kind of case assortment would you like? What would your solution be to that part of the issue?

I never said the line is perfect… there are many issues with distribution and such, but what DO you LIKE about it?

And yes, if you choose to just hit retail store after retail store to find pieces for your collection, that’s your choice. I personally don’t like the idea of that kind of hunting, but I won’t call it a “joke”… it’s your choice. What’s a joke to you is a viable way for many to get the pieces they want. It’s been a long time since I bought off Ebay, but I do trade and purchase with members here and carsthetoys… works very well for me, and I think many others.

If every new release that we wished was easy to find and were available as soon as it was released at whatever store you walked into, then how many collector’s would there be? What collectable toy line is there that you can find like that? The hunt is what draws some to this hobby, as well as the fantastic designs.

I stand by everything I said in my original post… but it is just my opinion, and I appreciate yours. That’s a reason I come to this board, for different views. It’s obvious you have at least some passion for this line, based on your post… that’s great!

I personally am excited about the upcoming releases… and I wish the distribution were better, but that won’t take away from my enjoyment of collecting this line! I love these Cars too much!!!

  • Chris says:

two peg warmers in this oversize case not too bad!!!!!!!!!!!

    • TJH-AZ says:

How long do you think it will be before case J shows up after 2 or 3 of these are put out? FOREVER, because the pegwarmers don’t move. While 12 customers will be happy, the delay in getting in the next case will be a long one.

  • acuransx says:

    Ladies & Gentlecars,

I sure feel your pain but please know that my Design team is trying to do these right. When they get there, how they get there, who gets them there is not my gig. If it was, I’d fix it.

I hope you stay with me as I just saw the sculpt on the Padre from El Materdor and it is off the hook cool. I’ll send pics when I can.

    Damn, wish I could help.

    • Albert Hinkey says:

May I please take this opportunity to lobby for something. I am aware that Mattel is going to release a chase Chick Hicks with a piston cup trophy. PLEASE add the Chick thunder cloud decal to this car!!!! The one he adds before the final race to mock Lightning. Is that possible?

      • Albert Hinkey says:

Met is there anyway we can get this request to Matty? Can we take a vote? This may become my personal mission.

(MET: Well, the one with the Piston Cup is a Dinoco Chick Hicks but there is a Green Ransburg Chick coming but I’m pretty it’s already produced as it’s due in a few months).

    • cac1959 says:

I sure appreciate everything you and your design team do… You’re definitely the strength of the Cars line. We’d all love to help with the when, how, and where.

Looking forward to seeing the Padre and other new Cars.

    • Matt B says:

      Martin-
Is there any way you can get whoever is in charge of making these decision on case assortment and distribution to read this board? I think you have all you need as far as market research goes as we as a whole are the ones that are collecting and carrying the line. I would think if Mattel starts upsetting people to the point of some to quit collecting, then someone needs to be notified as it looks like they are not taking consumer opinions at all. Well that is my 2 cents as I know lately it has been getting frustrating for me as well. Elvis has been out a month and I have seen 2 cases in the wild, got 1 and missed on the others. I still have yet to see an RPM Mega Sized truck yet. Target is now just putting out the case B with Tank Coat as we all know others including Macy’s had these 6 months ago. Oh well…maybe one day they will start looking at websites like this and start to listen to the masses!

    • Flik'sFriend says:

      Martin~
Again, I love your CARS….can’t wait to see what’s next!!! Don’t care who it is, or when it comes out…I just love them!!! πŸ™‚

    Happy Free Comic Book Day!

    Anyone going?

  • buckland-blowouts says:

Matty is not a tumor… He just acts like one!!!

    AAARRLLLLLLGGGRAAAARRRRGRGLLLLLLAAAAAGGG!!!

  • Brown Fury says:

No complaints from me about the change! Bring on young Francis!

  • Nicole H says:

I am still waiting to see an RPM Semi and Elvis out in the wild. Maybe these will get here sometime in July!

    • BMW says:

Nicole, some cases were found in Tennessee that had nothing but Elvis in the case. Imagine a full case of Elvis. The poster claimed it was unopened as he found it still plastic wrapped on the pallet. Still haven’t seen a wild Elvis either. Thats why I preordered the case. Figured he would be the hardest MegaSize to find of all. So if its true that full cases of Elvis were shipped, that might explain why some areas never got any.

      • Nicole H says:

I also preordered the case-best move I ever made! But I figured I would at least see an RPM Semi by now!

      • 5oclockshadow says:

I can believe this. I have seen cases with 2,3, and 4 Elvis’ .

Any reason for the change from Sven to Frank? Another lead paint issue? Or maybe they heard about all the folks dropping out of the Cars line and thought this might help bring them back.

(MET: The original listing for Frank (CASE J) actually made no sense – only ONE Frank – so this works out much better and hopefully we’ll get 3 Sven’s in the next case).

  • Micky says:

Met, are you from Brooklyn too?
    “youse”
    Shouldn’t that be “youse guys”?

(MET: I have been to Brookyln and think about pastrami on rye constantly … πŸ™‚ ).

    • Micky says:

My favorite is corned beef on club.

    • Steve AKA: Poppa says:

Hot Pastrami from Brooklyn or the Lower Eastside! You’re cruel. I’m from New York (Queens). The Pacific Northwest is a culinary wasteland. In order to get good food you have to go at least to Chicago. The first time I ordered ‘hot pastrami on rye’ in Tacoma, they asked if I wanted mayo, lettuce and tomato on it! πŸ™ I almost gagged! πŸ™ Things haven’t changed since 1976. BUT, if you get back to the Lower Eastside, there may be still places that will vacuum pack pastrami for shipping. If ever in New York, you have to go to the Carnegie Deli in Manhattan! I’m making myself hungry and depressed! Pizza taste like @#$% out here, too! And no Italian ices! πŸ™ Oh, the humanity of it!

(MET: Yea, bought some once by mail – good but not the same … yea, what kind of crazy person put anything but mustard on pastrami?! LA has acceptable pastrami – not as great as but solid (Langer’s is best, Art’s is second) … in NY, I like Katz’s & Ben’s … though Carnegie & Stage are much more convenient – blocks from TS/Broadway … yea, nothing like NY Pizza … you can’t get a real kosher dog out here on the west coast …

For nostalgic New Yorkers, be sure to check out Ben’s Best Deli’s website … it’s the ONLY non-annoying website with automatic audio πŸ™‚ Yep, hungry now and 3,000 miles away – plus it’s fRiday – damn, have to wait until Monday to Fedex pastrami).

      • Steve AKA: Poppa says:

In Tacoma there’s a market that flies in Kosher hot dogs from Chicago. Daughter brings out all the various crazy Chicago style condiments- hot peppers, neon green relish, etc. Still, you can’t beat the taste of a NYC hot dog from a pushcart. The city fathers of Tacoma have banned pushcarts- they don’t know how to live! My daughter swears by deep dish Chicago style pizza, but, I’ll take NY pizza over it any day. Neither has she gone to the feasts in Little Italy or Humberto’s Clam House where Joey Gallo was rubbed out! I’m making myself hungry again. πŸ™

        • Micky says:

Oh you have brought back childhood memories. My parents were born in Little Italy. Even though the family moved to Brooklyn and later to Long Island they always had ties to “the old neighborhood”. I remember our yearly pilgrimage to the Feast of San Gennaro. The sights, sounds and oh those smells! Italian sausage & pepper sandwiches, hot fried dough sprinkled with sugar, Italian ices (always lemon ice for me). The procession of the Saint through the streets. Glad I have these great memories to look back on.

      • bmc says:

lived there, done that…your making me miss those 5 years of my life also making me hungry too. If Cars had come out 10 years sooner (1996) I wouldn’t have had all the Cars that I have!

  • cac1959 says:

    Frank!!!!

Ready, willing, and waiting to order!

  • Mara says:

Thanks for all of the updates. But what about the 3 packs? I know I keep asking, but is there any news on case D especially since it seems like they are starting to send more things out?

(MET: No specific date yet but I imagine in the next few weeks?)

  • BMW says:

Thanks for that. At least you could have left out the dreaded useless word F…t. Show em how to do it.
    πŸ™‚

Met, down but not out. So how many have dropped out of the cars collecting? Bring Frank on.

I thought someone has already found Sven and selling it on the trading post.

    • Shelby says:

I know – I was thinking the same thing about Sven. I traded with that person. Guess I better send an email and find out what the dealio is!

    • Steve AKA: Poppa says:

There’s an eBayer from California selling several that he’s says he has ‘in hand.’ Selling for $20!

      • Shelby says:

Hmmmm….I think he was from California. Josh – brgr2313 or something like that. People have traded with him and said good things in the feedback forum so I am going to give him the benefit of the doubt and wait to hear back from him. I’d be just as happy with Frank, actually.

        • Jb2313R says:

Hello everybody and Shelby lol sorry i didnt get back to everybody was out of town in a family emergency I emailed everybody earlier yup Franks out and I send MET pictures. Thank you for trading.

  • chaisson says:

i comin 2 gat ya everyone
    im gonna be HOT

(MET: Does this have anything to do with the topic post or just a general random statement you make in the morning? πŸ˜† ).

  • John in Missouri says:

    Still waiting for Sarge too!

626 days (AND COUNTING) since the recall: http://www.cpsc.gov/cpscpub/prerel/prhtml07/07270.html
