Mattel Disney Pixar Diecast CARS: Impound McQueen – Error or Variant?
Ready, set – go!
Run to your open display or sealed minty mint Impound Lightning McQueen …
Is he happy or frowny?
Thanks Marceau for the great photos. This is “correct/normal” Impound McQueen. He has a frown expression.
This is the “error” Impound McQueen Marceau got (through an eBay auction). It is a very nice ‘error’ as it’s actually the “correct” expression to match the card art (see below) but until some or many of you can find a smiling Impound McQueen, it is an error and not a variant but nevertheless, an excellent and fun ‘error.’ (aka: valuable error 🙂 ).
Of course, the reason is that Impound McQueen is a two-piecer McQueen with a “mouth plate” and clearly, they put on the wrong one … the next question is whether there are a few (then error) or if many were made like these, (then variant) … so take a look and report back with photos if you too have the SMILING face one.
Nice photos and nice score, Marceau!
Yep, smiling on the package art but frowny inside …
