Mattel Disney Pixar CARS: 24 Hour Endurance Sheldon Shifter

The 24 Hour Endurance series has the great pearl metallic flake paint and Sputter Stop Next Gen Sheldon Shifter is no exception.

What is cool with collecting something is YOU are the one setting the rules! 🙂 since 2007 I have changed my way to collect Cars several times and I guess I will continue to do so. Sometimes I open boxes and look at older items, enjoying them and remembering where and how I got this one or that one. How lucky I was to find that one or how long I waited for another… I will one day give my entire collection to my boys but I will probably not be able to give them the same deep passion I got for these fabulous diecast… the big dilemma is, who will get the Mattel ones and who will get the Disney Store ones? 😀

    (MET: Nice! 😆 ).

Thanks for your thoughts and insights-they are helpful to me and give me something to consider with my own collection. I was on an E-Bay run late last year trying to find certain releases (Mater’s Tall Tales) that I was certain would not be out again. I decided to stop using E-Bay when I had found the ones I was interested in and instead I am being patient and seeing what I can find in Walmart and Target for the new releases.

There are lots coming out now which is great but I am working on defining what I want in my own collection. I really liked how you stated “What is cool with collecting something is YOU are the one setting the rules!” That really hit home for me and I will remember that whenever I am thinking about my collections or what I even want to display and collect.

      Thank you.

You are very welcome my friend!

I am very glad if my personal view of “collect them all” helps someone (even if it is ONLY ONE) to define his own collection. Yes, “Collect they them all”… but within your own rules! 😉

They do look really good. I have Jackson Storm and Tow Cap. I only have Tow Cap because I didn’t have him as a Next Gen racer before and then Mattel released him earlier this year. So now I have two of Tow Cap. I have also been collecting different Jackson Storm releases just for fun.

Other than those two I decided not to collect this line so I could focus on the ones I would really like to have. It’s strange, but in a weird way it feels good to look over ones that I would like to have, ask myself “Why do I want this one or that one?” and put some back only leaving with ones that I really wanted to add to my collection.

It feels more meaningful to me personally to say to myself “Why?” instead of just grabbing everything I don’t have. That is what I used to do. Of course, I am also no longer a completionist, so that is a big help. This is all part of my journey not only as a collector, but also as someone who is trying to reduce what he brings into the home.

I would love to collect everything from Cars, but that just isn’t feasible for me between the expense, storage, and even frustration of trying to find everything and put it somewhere.
