Mattel Disney Pixar CARS: Neon Racers Back?

The Neon Racer 4-pack has re-appeared at my local Target (still have never seen the singles).

neon racers

Or did some ebayer just return the 3 he couldn’t sell? 🙂

I still didn’t buy one as there was some quality issues on all the box sets … and of course, these weren’t around last week during the BUY ONE Get 50% off on second one.

What’s the word at your store?

Neons got restocked at most of my targets, but looks like one case of singles and a few 4 packs each.

  • Pontiac Michigan says:

Several of my area Targets put up a case (12 pcs??) on the pegs
with the regular Cars singles. No Shu to be found, so maybe this
is a repeat of the W-1 sets. Checked on line Target Area Stocks, and
almost all of the Targets within 25 miles now show stocks on hand.
Lots of the 4-pack sets, too.
The regular Cars are getting pretty skimpie, so maybe we’ll see the
newer waves soon. Walmarts have the “clearance” pricing, but little of
    what is left has moved.

Houston stores received 2 cases each of singles Feb 15th and a couple cases of the 4 packs. These 24 Neon singles per store quickly sold out. I bought a case of them at one Target on the 15th.

The endcap display was taken down when these went discontinued in the Target system March 23rd.

Currently Targets here all have the grey dot on the one set of pegs for Neons. No restock here maybe because areas that never got any singles are now finally receiving stock?

People really care about the neons ? Ohhhhh wait its cause people thought they were going to go up in value lol lets see how long they sit on the pegs now that its clear they will not be rare.

Off again to open my local target, I am just setting myself up for disappointment.

  • brianmc4745 says:

Its gotta be sad because even this site take5 has not posted anything of interest about cars in a good while.

  • ZipZap says:

    Target in Eastern PA…

The only Neons were plastic Radio Control LMQs for $14.99. There were 3 on the shelf right below the regular single pegs which haven’t been restocked in weeks. The radio control cars were not stocked at this store when the Neons were available earlier in the year.

I have no interest in the neons. The radio control car was pretty small and just kinda meh.

Walmarts around here are all out of stock except for the normal peg warmers at $2.97.

  • Lane Change says:

Pretty much the same in North Texas. I have seen at multiple Targets the 4 pack and all of the singles. The end cap is down now and yes they have moved inline but there is no stock on hand anywhere. Hopefully they at least finish the line before deciding to discontinue, I think they look pretty neat.

  • Steve AKA: Poppa says:

Same at Tacoma, WA Targets. Neons, but, zero others. One bright spot was at Wal-Mart, South Hill, Puyallup, WA with basic Cars at $2.99. Clearing out the old stuff????

In spite of their high price in the UK (RRP 6.99 GBP), 5.99 GBP at Sainsbury to 7.99 GBP at TRU they have been selling well since their launch nearly three months ago. One store, Wal-Mart owned ASDA have been selling them cheaper recently, 5.00 GBP I think and TRU now have a buy two, get one free deal. I’m not sure if they are Easter holiday deals, time will tell.

They do tend to be restocked regularly! I’m sure many of us over in the UK would forego the Neons for the Toyko Mater series!? I would!

TRU have the 4-Car Neon Gift Pack for 24.99 GBP. In common with many of the other gift packs (and singles for that matter) if you are a mint card collector you have to do a bit of hunting to find good ones. Mattel’s safe packing leaves a lot to be desired. Stores also contribute to this as most of them don’t have pegs, but just shove the products on shelves!

  • Zen Master Pitty says:

Europe seems to have the most of these singles. I saw hundreds of the singles on pegs all over France, England and Belgium.

One TRU in France had a couple hundred on the pegs and a pallet of 8 cases in reserve too. No Shu’s though. They were really hard to find.

forget neon racers, I just qant to see one dang store stock some f ing cars around here. Let me vent for a second because I am beyond frusterated. I am a collector of many things besides cars. But cars being my favorite thing to collect is qhat gets me to set out hunting EVERY SINGLE MORNING. I run my oqn auto body shop so I go every morning before target opens and start there and work my way down to other targets, wal marts and TRU’s. I am freaking livid right now because this entire month I have not found one single restock of cars or anything else that I collect at that matter. Keep in mind that I am at store opening everyday. I thought today being Friday that I would turn the corner and finally see the glorious pegs of cars restocked. I already got all of the latest cars with Todd and the rest because I ordered a case. Unfortunately I no longer have any of them because I gave them all away to a friend of mines kid that loves cars. Keep in mind that Todd has been my most coveted and desired figure. So now, I have to find them again and I just have this feeling that I will not find them. Being a collector sucks sometimes.

YAll the targets in Los Angeles have been restocked with 4-Packs and singles but I have zero interest in these repaints… Meh.

  • Pontiac Michigan says:

I’ve seen the 4-pack at several area Targets; One store has an end
cap set-up which had the Neon Story Book thing in a stack, and pegs
for singles, and those large scale McQ’s. Each store has a singles row
of pegs, all with the “silver ball sticker (not in stock)” attached.
A couple of store that showed stock on the area stock report @ Target.com
only have the original, first release case (no Shu). So it does look
like there is a resurgence of the Neons in the works.

  • Greg says:

Looks like the Target in my area has reduced the number of singles pegs for the normal Cars, and added in a column for the Neons. Just the pegs, no cars on them.

  • StephOfTheEast says:

The Neon Racers singles have begun arriving at Mr Toys Toyworld stores in Australia. They’re $3 more than normal singles and don’t seem to be selling too well at the stores near me. They are, however, available for order on their website as well.

  • John in Missouri says:

No new shipments at mine, they’ve just been moved from the original endcap to a temporary endcap and now to a column of pegs between the Mainline Singles and the Movie Moments (2-packs).
