This is the Disney Store Sgt. Highgear with a cloth covering – which is cheaper than “flocking” directly onto plastic.
Mattel has created a prototype for their own Sgt. Highgear but no release date yet.

He has shown up in some 4-sided Christmas toy shippers at Schnuck’s Supermarkets in the St. Louis area. These have many different Mattel toylines and each shipper has different CARS! Have found Maurice in 2 of 7 I’ve checked. No chases in any.
I’ve found countless Maurice’s at Gerbes (Kroger) grocery stores.
Haven’t seen this one yet. One case only?
(MET: First in CASE J (Super Case Case) and its twin – K. Stores either got a lot of that case or none at all – there was also some cases reshuffled, I think he was lost in the shuffle so maybe just one release?)
Maurice was in Case M also. Not the repacked M but the original case M.
Still not easy to find due to distribution.
Maurice is a great Car.
He actually appears to be based on the Land Rover Series I, Maurice Wilks was Rover’s chief designer at the time the Series I was designed.

The series I was based on the Willys MB and Ford GPW (Jeep). Ford of UK built thousands of GPs during WWII.
