Disney PLANES: Hector Should Vector Into Your Pad

While we have not seen PLANES yet, one of the coolest characters in the film is clearly Hector Vector.

And of course, the Disney Store is already to go (he is NOT on any Mattel list).

John H. sends along great photos and has done all the scale math for us all.

First he is SOLID DIECAST METAL throughout. Other than the wheels and rotors, he is solid metal. Just like Frank or Siddeley, the Disney Store oversized vehicles are solid diecast metal. As John H notes, “the wheels turn (no folding gear), the visor go up and down, the side doors slide open and the rotors can be turned easily.”

Sweet!

Hector-Vector-&-Dusty

Hector Vector is presumed to be a Sikorsky SH-60 Seahawk … and unlike lazy me who only did scale length wise, “John H.” crunched ALL the numbers for us …
Real Sikorsky SH-60 Seahawk
Length: 64 ft 8 in (19.75 m)     =  776″
Rotor diameter: 53 ft 8 in (16.35 m)  = 644″
Height: 17 ft 2 in (5.2 m)     =  206″
Disney Store Hector Vector model dimensions:
Length: 10″
Rotor diameter: 11″
Height: 3″
(if there were a 1:55 scale model)
rd=11.7″
l=14″
h=3.7″
Disney Store Hector Vector
l=1:78 scale
rd=1:59 scale (almost dead on for Mattel scale)
h=1:69 scale
So, the length matches the scale I found the Skipper to be. He was 1:78.5 to be precise so that’s two Disney Store PLANES at the 1:78 to 1:80 scale.

So, while it would be great to get a perfect 1:55 scale, he looks good enough in proportional size next to 1:55 CARS.

Hector-Vector-&-Mater

Mater wishes there was a Dinoco Heli he could ride in. 🙂

Now we need some flight deck Pitty’s! 🙂

This is one instance you might want to grab one early on – as there will probably only a few production runs on Hector – there will probably be a restock around Christmas time but afterwards?

Thanks for the great photos and doing all the math for us, “John H.”
