Mattel Disney Pixar CARS: Flo’s V8 Cafe Back Holiday 2012

A few months ago, a listing for Flo’s V8 Cafe popped up for around $35 – it seemed likely it was the return of the fabled Flo’s V8 Cafe playset from 2006-2007, It looked good because it was listed near the CARS 1 diecasts coming (back) to Toys R Us later this year but without more info, it could’ve been anything including a Micro Drifter set but now …

(old packaging photos, of course).

The description pretty much confirms it cannot be anything else:

“Flo’s V8 Café Play Set features three levels of Radiator Springs fun! Fill up cars using the moving gas pumps, or flip open the top to hang out on the balcony. When they get restless, use the rotating turntable and spark plug launcher to send them driving through the café! For added fun, the play set lights up as lights flash in sequence. Exclusively at Toys ‘R Us.”

UPC (same as before?) 7-46775-20025-1

(I’m presuming it’s the same but I would have to go to the wayback closet to find it) It would be the ultimate confirmation if someone has it handy.

So, if you missed out before, don’t miss out again!

You can check out prototype pics here.

And no, no listings for the other Townie playsets … maybe they’re waiting to see how Flo’s sells …

My bet is the reintroduction of playsets due to the opening of Carsland. The various focal points of Radiator Springs will not be so abstract since numerous kids will have seen the life size shops. Will the Disney Stores beat Mattel to the marketplace? Probably.

  • nlg510 says:

I already got this about 2 years ago. No point in getting another one.

  • bobbyjack says:

I may pick this up just to keep in the box. Ours has been set out for over a year and a half now and has been played with quite a bit. Keeping my fingers crossed for a rerelease of the Curio shop. It is the only one we are missing.

I found the 2012 Case V2796-T with Kabuto on eBay. Assortment
    1 Don Crumlin
    2 Max Schnell
    3 Kabuto
    2 Miguel Camino
    2 Jeff Gorvette
    1 Race Team Mater
    3 Francesco Bernoulli
    2 Mel Dorado
    4 LM with Racing Wheels
    2 Race Team Sarge
    2 Rod “Torque” Redline

(MET: Guy has it in hand? Int’l case?)

    • RodredlineM19 says:

No Met, I think the mint’l cards have the picture instead of the printed name, and these had printed names.

(MET: It is odd as there’s no T cases listed and it’s quite a few letters away from the next H case – it’s unlikely we’ll get that many cases before November 2012 when the letter sequence will re-start with A but nothing is impossible … Kabuto makes sense as its been released internationally but this is a strange scenario as of now).

      • Jack says:

Met I had posted about this on another thread. For some reason the assortment lists sent out by Mattel jumps from H to T. I’m wondering if it’s because after case H the next case with Super Chases are made available only at retail. What do you think?

    • 5oclockshadow says:

why would anyone buy that case?

It looks like 1 repainted car and 23 repeats.

    • John in Missouri says:

The listing says he has 10 cases.

(MET: So, how’s the summer weather in Saint Louie? Everyone in the Mississippi? 🙂 )

    • deal or no cars says:

Yeah right just what we were looking for : another 4 Flash McQueen to keep our pegs WARM ! .. STUPID MATTEL .. down here in Canada We’re still with the first 2 cases from last year .. FINN and MATER all over !.. We will never ever see anything else .. Store here don’t do buy 2 get 5 free .. no 1$ sale .. best we got was 25% off 6.99$ + 14.5% tax.. Who can get better then we get !? DUMB HEAD at Mattel, Dumb head who ever bought 200 000 cases for TRU CANADA, and 350 000 cases of the same Sh?t for WM..

  • Tom says:

This is awesome for those who don’t have one yet, so much better than paying too much for an old one.

  • Fillmore1234 says:

I may have to buy this set. Mine unfortunately didn’t come with the stickers that were supposed to be included to it looks pretty dull. But I’m still considering on whether $35 just for a sheet of stickers is worth it…

  • Stig McQueen says:

We picked up all four of the original sets when they first came out, but it’s still good to see this (and others?) coming back.

  • babychristiancars says:

a definite buy, its the only one our Walmart never had. The rollin bowlin would be another great set to return, love the mater in that one.

  • John says:

Interesting. We occasionally see new unsold Ramone’s House of Body Art ( in very shelf worn boxes) at TRU, unsold from the first release.

  • Jack says:

It’s always great to see any Cars 1 releases again. I’m happy newer collectors have a chance to get this at a normal price and it makes me optimistic we will see more from Cars 1. I remember what a stir these caused a few years ago when a bunch were found overseas.

  • Wraukn says:

I’m holding out hope they’ll make some Cars 1 characters that haven’t been released before!

  • John in Missouri says:

They need to complete the town while they’re at it (Mater’s junkyard, the Cozy Cone, Doc’s place, the Courthouse, etc.).

  • NascarFan says:

    Sherman:…….to the wayback closet!!!!!!!

  • Tedsallis says:

That’s a gotta buy. My kid will go nuts for this at Christmas!!

  • bubbabob says:

Nice to see that one coming.
