Our Target moved the remaining FLs to the lenticular pegs, leaving a wide path of nothing.

However, on two of the shelves below?

    Probably 20 Speedway 9 packs!

Is there any info. on the cars 2 double decker bus carrying case ? If so could you post it . Thanks

(MET: Yea, already posted – if you do a search, there’s a photo of it).

It took five Family Dollars before I found them and trust me in Baltimore the Family Dollars are not in the most safe neighborhoods. I had to look even though I was able to convince some Target associates it was okay to give some a couple weeks back. I hope I didnt get anyone in trouble. Thats my only fear. Some of tgose people have families so I dont want them getting fired over my impatience.

I was so excited to hear about cars at Family Dollar, as we have one here and we basically having nothing in Vermont. But, alas, no cars products today when I stopped by. 🙁

Imaggine how I feel, I work at a Walmart and I know where they have a few of the boxes locked up at.

  • Derek Ailes says:

IF YOU HAVE A FAMILY DOLLAR NEAR YOU, THEY PUT OUT THE FIRST CASE FFROM CARS 2 TODAY. I WENT THERE TO GET SOME CARPET CLEANER AND TO MY SURPRISE THEY HAD JUST DISPLAYED THEM FIVE MINUTES BEFORE I GOT THERE. GOT THE FIRST 9 CARS BEFORE MAY 16. I AM SO HAPPY. THEY ARE SELLING THEM $5.00 EACH

Even if they haven’t put them out, it always helps to be really nice to the lone associate in the store. I had one the other day who went in back and gave me the box to go through. She said the box indicated May 16, but they really aren’t allowed to keep stuff in the back either.

Same at an Idaho Family Dollar! $5 each is like buying a Final Lap, but had to get Finn McMissile. Didn’t see any labeled Chase, but there was only one Acer…

🙁 so after all the positive comments about Family Dollar stores, I decided to drive down. I looked around and didnt even see a toy section until a little while later. Nothing. There were 3 Lightyear Launchers, but no Cars 2. Disappointed, I asked a the lady at the cash register about it. She said they were being shipped and may arrive soon. I did find these cool Go Fish and Crazy 8 Cars themed games, though, and I bought them.

Unfortunately, there aren’t any Family Dollar stores in California. 🙁 And my Target doesn’t have a single piece of Cars merchandise in the entire store either. 🙁

    • Milton Calypeer says:

      derek,
Thanks for the headsup. Went to Family dollar in Hewberry SC and scored all 9 new cars. After the long Cars collecting drought it was sweet to see 9 new cars with no re-releases. Which brings to mind a question, WAS THAT SO FRIGGIN HARD MATTEL??!! Make cars and we will buy them.

Here’s hoping that the 24 hour stores will have Cars2 merchandise to sell at midnight… I plan on stopping at the local Walmart and Meijer stores before heading to either Indianapolis or Dayton… I figured May 16 would be a great day to use a vacation day from work.

    • bobbyjack says:

I pass right by two 24 hr stores on my way to work. Guess I need to leave an hour early that day!

(MET: They should begin setup a few hours before midnight for 24 hour stores).

      • John says:

You guys really think they will be ready right on May 16th? After months of little to no Cars on the shelves stocked by indiffernet retailers, I can’t see them being on the ball enough to put them out the night of the 15th. I expect we’ll still see empty or partially filled aisles at some stores into early June. That’s probably why Mattel/Disney scheduled the roll out 6 weeks before the movie premiere; so there’s likely to be product on the shelves when the general public becomes aware of Cars 2 in late June.

        • Fillmore1234 says:

Lenticulars at my Wal-Mart didn’t get here until a whole week went by after the scheduled date. And with my Family Dollar store not even having the Cars reach them yet, it’s gonna be a looong wait…

          Still waiting…

          And waiting…

Then when you least expect it they arrive. Though happy, you’re mad about both the store and Mattell. I bet Cars here won’t make it at my local stores until 2 weeks before the movie, but they were in the back room since May 16th. And I know I’m acting pessimistic about this, but I was pretty disappointed after wasting 30 minutes worth of gas. (my Family Dollar is about 15 minutes away)

I visited about 7 Family Dollar stores in the Chicago area last week. All but 6 of those had 1 or 2 cases of case assortment B by Monday or Tuesday. No one store put them in the same spot than the others. They were either in the Easter section or the toy section, on front end caps, back end caps, or somewhere in the aisle, but always on the shelf instead of pegs, and usually next to the Lightyear Launchers (crummy assortment for $10 each by the way). The big $5 price sticker on the front of the card peels off pretty easily just with damp fingers. In other words, if you do try looking for them at Family Dollar, it really pays to look around a bit, and like John says, ask an associate if needed. By the way, Case B is the one without the repeat townies, Holly, or Grem, but has Acer, Prof. Z, and Carla Veloso. Happy hunting all!

I took it as vacation! Ha! And I’m planning a midnight run to WMs in a 50 mile radius with Target & Kmarts at 7 & 8.

  • BMW says:

One Walmart is still stocking Cars 1 in Texas. Chase Yeti and Chase Dinoco Signature this morning were found.

  • John says:

There sure are conflicting theories of merchandising. While the Target (above) appears to be content to let all those pegs sit idle for three weeks, in the same parking lot there’s a Kmart packed with unsold Cars, even after the clearance sale they just went through. I should have taken that photo for contrast, some 50+ launchers and ten pegs of lenticulars and synthetic tire racers.

  • John in Missouri says:

Wait a minute, where are the 80 boxes of the Speedway 9-packs???

  • bobbyjack says:

My local Walmart has filled all the Cars pegs with Hot Wheels. They also took down the Cars banner.
