I stopped by the Customer Service Desk today and the three women there all told me the same thing; almost at the same time. “We don’t honor Black Friday items with the price adjustment.”, but they will be on sale Friday and Saturday. The woman in charge said if they honored the sale adjustment on Black Friday items, there wouldn’t be any point of having a Black Friday sale.

Could someone explain to a Brit the concept of Black Friday and “door-busters” etc?

    (MET: Last year’s post).

  • Chris says:

Finally I found new final laps, first time for close yo 5 or 6 months.
Has FL Shoval Mcqueen been shipped to Target?

    • Man-I-Fold says:

Yes. He’s in Case G with Artie, Bertie and Flo with Tray. The newest case out is Case H, with Marlon Clutches McKay, Marty Brakeburst, Matthew True Blue McCrew, and Matti.

  • John in Missouri says:

So let’s say every Target gets 24 of these 9-packs, but only sells 6 on Black Friday. When I go in on Saturday, won’t the other 18 still be priced at $19.99?

    • Uncle Skip says:

Not necessarily… but in the past few years I have noticed that Black Friday ad merchandise remains at that price throughout the weekend (except for listed door busters)

I know from my time at CVS, the price file for sales had 2 different ones for Black Friday… one for door busters and one for everything else… both with different ending times… Walmart’s pricing usually extends into the weekend…

      Might depend on the store.

    • moe says:

Target did last year on the 4 packs. I did a bunch of them. Bought them a few days before black friday and went on black friday and they adjusted price. Also did it on a Garmin GPS.

  • if you bought one already:

just return yours on wednesday and buy em on Friday

  • Knightrider says:

Would anyone be kind enough to pick me up one of these at the reduced price and ship it to me in the UK?

  • L8rM8r says:

I hope that they have a bunch for everyone it would be too bad if I couldn’t get one at this price. I know that someone stated that this is not a door buster, but will it still be available at 4AM. I am guessing that it would but wanted to make sure in the event that I wanted to pick up a doorbuster item.

  • BMW says:

My store told me very plainly that I have 14 days of the date of the receipt.

Target customer service lady said that for price adjustment the purchase needs to be within 14 days of the date on the receipt. So I would have to return mine that I got in Oct and repurchase them next week to be within the 14 day period. (Their policy on price matching other stores prices is 7 days) Which does not apply in this scenario. She also said I could buy them on BF and return the full price 9 packs anytime within the 90 day period from purchase date.

so take your choice. And from what I am seeing pictures of there will be plenty of these for all!

  • I-am-speed says:

ALWAYS pay for purchases, or at least Cars purchases, at Target with a Debit or Credit Card.

If you lose your receipt, they can look up the purchase just by sliding the card and entering the DPCI or UPC of the item you’re trying to return.

Takes the fear of losing a receipt completely out of the picture.

Keep in mind, it follows the same 90 day limit as with any return. If the transaction was over 90 days, you’re probably out of luck.

TRU is also capable of “no receipt” searches.

  • shery1975 says:

I plan on just buying one at the sale price and returning the one I already bought.

  • scott says:

just return it and re-buy it geeez so simple

    • I-am-speed says:

Keep in mind that Target typically follows a policy where the item cannot be instantly re-sold to you. It has to be returned to the sales floor before it can be re-purchased. Been there, tried that. πŸ™

  • moe says:

Target only does a price match for 7 days and they won’t match after that. Targets policy here.
    http://sites.target.com/site/en/company/page.jsp?contentId=WCMP04-040400

    and states,

What if I’ve already made the purchase at Target?
No problem. Within seven days of purchase, bring your Target receipt and the competitor β€˜s current printed ad. We will reimburse the savings to you.

Target follows this for their sale items also.

I did this last year on the 4 packs and they honored their sale price. Also done it on a Garmin GPS.

    • BMW says:

      Hi there,
This is only Target’s policy on price matching *other* stores prices, which is 7 days. Done this many times. Take a receipt or ad and they match the sale of the item at the other store

Target’s policy on in store sale price guarantees is 14 days. Different scenario. You buy and it goes on sale at Target, and they will give you the sale price with your receipt or look up on your debit card if you lost the receipt. Target only.

And this is not a door buster item either.
So its not the 4 am to 10 am only.

  • Jack says:

So if I understand the policy correctly I can buy as many 9 packs as I want in the days leading up to Black Friday and then get an adjustment to the sale price on BF?
Does anyone know for sure? Thanks

    • mcmean says:

My understand is that it depends how long has passed between the time you bought it and when you bring your receipt back. If too long has passed then they won’t price adjust without doing a return (ie > 10-14 days). This means you need to bring the product back with you. Then depending on who is working the service desk (nice vs not nice) you may need to wait until they restock the product to the shelves before you can rebuy it at the lower price. If you wait even longer (>60 or 90 days) you are stuck with the price you pay. I forget the actual time breakdowns s each store is different.

Finally, as someone else stated, the language in the black Friday sales ad can trump everything.

  • NascarFan says:

If anyone gets extras let me know… theres a few overseas people looking for some

  • Mike H says:

Now THAT price I can feel less guilty about.

It’s the equivalent of buying 4 new Final Lap cars, and getting the racers for free.

  • Eric says:

Finally! Now we don’t have to worry about finding all 4 of the newbies on Final Lap cards. For a mere 3 pennies more, you also get a bonus plastic tire clutch aid, sidewall shine, and 3 replacement cars for when the boys chip them beyone repair (some of ours are getting close). I like it…

  • Alex says:

    Still have the receipt handy.

  • Carsaholic says:

To save the headache, you can buy it up to 14 days before Black Friday and then stroll in with your receipt any time on Black Friday and have the Service Desk adjust it for you. Works like a charm.

    • Uncle Skip says:

Hopefully it will be that easy, but I have had issues in the past…

If there is language in the ad that states specials only for certain hours or not valid on prior purchases, etc… the stores do not have to honor a price adjustment…

However, they do have a 90 day return policy so as long as the receipt is valid, a refund would be issued. I’ve had to do this on several black friday ad merchandise in the past few years… buy the on sale item and return with the older higher priced valid receipt… same overall result as a price match…

      Save those receipts… happy hunting!!

  • babychristianscars says:

no target near me but I’m hoping it will be online.

  • jestrjef says:

If this is like the Lenticular 4 pack they did, there will be plenty to go around!! πŸ™‚ Much better buy at this price!!

  • 5oclockshadow says:

    much better price

I’ll be avoiding Black Friday shopping though.
