Mattel Disney Pixar Diecast CARS: Matty & Retail 1:24 ID
Here’s how to identify the 1:24 series released from Mattel:
2006
Lightning McQueen & Mater were released in 1:24 scale individually. They were in a red box with a plastic window.
2009
Lightning McQueen, Mater & Doc Hudson were released in 1:24 scale individually in TWO versions.
The Matty “white box” version with “rubber tires” available ONLY from Mattel’s Matty site.
The reason for the white box is they figured since you already paid for it, there’s no need for you to see what’s on the inside.

VERSION #2 – The REGULAR RETAIL version came in a plastic window box so if you were at a retail store, you can see what you’re getting …
Now, on Matty, the rubber tire versions were listed for a long time and then disappeared one day with the cryptic “GONE FOR GOOD.” As noted – most likely they were liquidated to either their own retail stores, a consolidator in the US (Big Lots, Ross, TJ Maxx, etc, etc …) or shipped overseas (most likely Brazil). So, if you spot the white boxes above, give us a shot from where-ever you are in the world.
If you want the retail versions, they should not be hard to find – the Mattel stores have plenty (see above link for link to stores).

Matty sucks… PG or not… Sorry folks – But welcome to the 21st century !
At least my grammar is correct. The rest is purely a matter of taste. Matty is the ruin of collecting as far as I am concerned. Big business dangling the carrot from a new angle, all the while keeping the existing “carrots” just far enough from the community of world purchasers…
But I digress… My wife is asleep through all of this and I have to go and pull the blanket over her so she keeps warm… Much more important, non?!?!?!?!
There is also Frank in 1:24 Die Cast. Great buy at $15.00 at the Disney Store.

Yea the acrylic cover is sweet.
pretty much worth the 42.00 shipped cost.
Matty Version was 45.95 (i think, plus shipping) shipped from a “fulfillment center”
