Mattel Disney Pixar Diecast CARS: Lenticular 1.0 & Lenticular 2.0 Checklist

For those collecting the lenticulars, note there are two distinct releases, the Race O Rama (motif) 1.0 lenticulars that features eyes that generally have an open & closed position …

Lenticular 2.0 CARS are on the blue WOC “Night Skyline” cards and generally feature eyes that move from side to side …

The eye position options are not set across the board as some Lenticular 1.0 CARS featured eye movements that moved side to side (such as Flo) and we don’t know if Flo will be changed-upgraded-updated when she is released on the WOC” Night Skyline card so for now, the simplest split is the card design.

Your checklist for what’s announced or shipped from CASES A-H …

These include availability outside single cards.

Remember, these are ONLY listed through CASE H so just because there is NO mark on the right hand column does not mean it will not be released as a “side to side” Lenticular 2.0 later this year AFTER CASE H. You can consolidate it with this MAIN CHECKLIST.

Good luck!

  • BMW says:

The only new one I have seen that seems pretty good is the Mater on the blue nightscene, He has eyes that shift from lower left to up right. More personality to him. It looks like he is lifting his eyebrows in a surprised expression.

(MET: Same mater is available with the Pitty’s).

  • CaptainChunk says:

Blink, Wink, or Shifting Left to Right, they’re all garbage that is taking valuable space away from better products.

  • Big Al says:

    what case is Vern in?

(MET: Listed in CASE H …)

    • Big Al says:

Ok, thanks, unless I missed something in my scan of you list there seems like one new lenticular car in cases G and H that we know of (Vern). Things seem to be slowing down for new lenticular cars (only 2 new cars in 3 cases (F, G, H))

(MET: Sorry, I double checked, it’s only through G so since F is essentially out, Vern is in CASE G – meaning he should arrive in the next Final Lap case … I’ll update for tomo).

    • applefinatic says:

Lent. Jay and Vern Now on Ebay so is Final Lap Johnnie or Johnny Don’t remember

  • Mr. T says:

    I repeat………..poo – poo.

Is it me or have things seemed to have ‘stopped’ for those who are caught up?? (with the non-googly eyed line of course)

    • Jack says:

Yep. Looks like a year of chasing the one fixed eyes Chase car in each lenticular case and waiting for a final Lap Car cases with 2 or 3 new releases here and there for us non-Googly eyes collectors. The only lenticular I will collect is if some new releases are only available googly eyed( which I hope not). Otherwise as far as Cars movies new releases things are real slow. If it weren’t for the Toons releases, an occasional new hauler and the recently released Storytellers and Christmas Cars, collecting would be almost unbearably slow. The regular Cars movie 55:1 new releases are just too far and few in between.

    • John in Missouri says:

Remember the very last scene of “Raiders of the Lost Ark” where they stored the Ark of the Covenant in the absurdly large warehouse? I believe all those other crates hold the Final Lap cases we’re all looking for.

      • iamspeed says:

I returned extra Final Lap cars to Target after I didn’t get replies to a mass email I sent out on Christmas Day. Guess who was on the email list? 🙁

        • slicepie says:

I know I wasn’t. I need those both for our collection and for the website. I haven’t seen much around here at all.

          • iamspeed says:

I’ve only seen one case show up at each of the 3 Targets within our area. If I see them again, I’ll try another head’s up on TFAD.

            • slicepie says:

Well that’s better than we are doing here. We are so close to the Canadian border that there is at least triple the competition for these than in most other areas. Even when I get to Target at 7:50am there are already 10-15 Canadians standing in front of the doors.

        • John in Missouri says:

The only Take5 email I recall getting on Christmas Day was a Christmas greeting from Traver at the Children’s Toy Closet.

(MET: We don’t send out mass emails … but if you would like to send us a large bank transfer, I believe I can find my friend, the Prince in Nigeria to follow up with you 🙂 ).

  • Dunroamin says:

    Hey Met…minor update..I’d email you but don’t know how…

I have a Dinoco LM on a night card.
I have The King on a night Card.
Mater exists on a night card and in the HTB pitty 3 pack as lenticular.
Which adds Bruiser Pitty, and Chick wide pitty tot he list.
    Also, finish line McQueen

Pit Crew Member Guido is the same on both cards, I believe. I’d guess he doesn’t have enuf “eye” width to go side to side…

Do you know what the next case is for singles?

    Thanks
    J

(MET: Whoops, yea, forgot about that other 3-packs … well, I guess you can do a “manual” update 🙂 but I’ll add your info for the next time … what CASE info are you looking for?)

  • Ryan says:

Aren’t these just “Race O Rama Lenticulars” and “Final Lap Lenticulars”?
There’s no “WOC” shown on the Final Lap Lenticulars, either.

(MET: Yea, since they also dropped ROR but not the design on the final batches and then dropped WOC from the second batches of the ‘Night Skyline’ … trying to avoid saying ‘Final Lap’ on anything but the final Final lap since that is its official name on the cards …).

    • Ryan says:

Oh, so there were initial Final Lap lenticulars that actually said “World of Cars”, MET?

(MET: I guess the first two CASES for sure? I don’t have them all in front of me but if you look at the 5 releases of Lightning post, you’ll see the Lightning McQueen’s are WOC … I have not look at every other card … dinner’s just about ready so for now, you’ll have to verify when they switched over – presumably with CASE D?)

      • Ryan says:

MET, I don’t see any Final Lap Lenticulars (Lenticulars 2.0 or WOC Night Skyline as you call them) that actually say WOC on them…I only see “WOC” on the Race O Rama cards.

        (MET: Yep).

  • cac1959 says:

The best lenticulars are ones like the new Sarge and Fillmore, where the eyelids move… I wonder how much work it would take to turn lenticulars into eyes that don’t move by painting the windshield white, and adding fixed eyes?

  • Hostile Takeover Banker says:

Most of these fly off the shelves around here compared to the Toon cars which are being left on the shelves. It is crazy, Mattel can’t get it right and neither can some consumers. Or is it just me?

    • John in Missouri says:

When you have a $4.97 Cars Toon next to a $3.50 Lenticular, it makes sense why these sell better. By the way, Target used to have Toons for $3.97, but they are now $4.97 — I guess they really needed to price-match Wal-Mart!

    • Kevin W says:

At $2.00 a pop, the lenticulars still aren’t “flying off the shelf” at my Walmart. I was however able to pick up several “chases” for $2.00!

  • Micky says:

The blinky lenticulars are bad enough but the side to side ones are down right freaky.

  • rpag says:

i do collect lenticulars and think I am caught up, but going to need some time to review
