Mattel Disney Pixar Diecast CARS: Shop Lucky

When you cast a wide net, sometimes you land the big one …

“Nikko” drove all night through rain, sleet, hail … just to make his appointed Target shopping rounds … (okay, he’s in California and it’s summer – so it’s more like hail of drivebys, sleet of our new temporary sales tax and rain of ladders in the roadway …)

He’s lucky and good …

haul
Nice haul at Target of Final Lap CARS … nice … wait, what’s that on the right?

Yea, after waiting a long while where the stock guy FORGOT to come back out … he did however return with Piston Cup racers with rubber tires … yea, sometimes that mattel random packing pays off …

piston cup

No, they did not have the full set, wow, you’re greedy πŸ™‚

Rev n Go
Yep, real story … real receipt …

I guess NCF stands for No Can Find?

cars Out

Ah, nice to get out that plastic bubble rat race …

Ask for it by DPCI …

Box
Thanks for box pic, JestrJef … BTW, if Target is getting 1,224 CASES, that’s 22,032 Final Lap CARS going to Target or @4,900 each of the new three CARS … a good start. But since there are about 1,500 Target’s – this seems to indicate they are only getting ONE Box per store FOR NOW. The markings only indicate this shipment so they could more next week.

VanGuy01 reminds us to look on the bottom shelf (at TRU).

sarge box

Of course, at his TRU, the megasize mater Tall Tales are apparently pegwarmers?

mega
Buy 2 Get 1 free megasize sale ends tonight (9-26-2009).

And “Amy” says “Look! All My Cards are Bent From Being Stacked on top of Each Other.”

Amy-cards

Look, I’m trapped!

Amy-cards2

So happy shopping this weekend …

All you need to find this weekend are Final Lap CARS, Sarge’s Boot Camp, Crew Chief & Pitty’s & unbent lenticulars … oh yea, and a couple case of Kmart CARS … you have 48 hours and he clock is ticking!

Though in the UK, Paul B says you might not want to shop at Smyth’s … guess they need the money? Good thing they used the small sticker …

So when Target says it’s in the back, do they bring it out and expect you to buy the whole case?

    • Glenn H. says:

Not at all. If you can gt them to bring it out to you then you can choose what you want! πŸ™‚

      • jestrjef says:

One of the people I delt with said I COULD NOT go through the case, but he would put them on the pegs for me to look through . . . then he realized there WAS NO SPOT for them and got confused . . . . πŸ™‚

    • Cyclops says:

Worked like a charm. The guy was nice enough to even slice open the case. I took what I needed which was one of each new release and the Doc with red rims. Thanks for the DCPIs!

  • Glenn H. says:

A bit off topic…(sorry!), but does anyone know if we are still going to see Hydraulic Ramone as a Mega-Sized?

    • Mike H says:

I almost got my hopes up on this. I was looking at a Target a week ago, and saw a lavel that said ‘Hydraulic Ramone.’ Only it was the regular ‘Hydraulic Ramone’ with lenticular eyes. DRATS!

Met I am curious about this. My case was 63 of 80. Yet the picture you show in this article and other case pictures I have seen are XXXof 1224 as you stated.
Maybe the case number is by purchase order number? If so there are many more than 1224 cases. See the case picture
    here http://www.flickr.com/photos/26216606@N06/3956107729/
The date code shows my case was produced on July 27th, and two cases other collectors found were made on August 14th.

(MET: Yea, as I noted, only in context, with your box, it’s clear there are other “PO’s” out there and it could simply be split by Target warehouse-distribution … for instance, maybe Texas has about 80 Targets so each store gets a case? Just speculating … or West Texas is served by the AZ warehouse? And the other box shot might be a CA warehouse that serves WA & OR? It’s just a tidbit of info and certainly not compete but just explaining that portion of the shipment …). Because in theory, Target has to get to 40,000 of a new CAR to reach what was reached before (or with 4 Polly’s in a box, about 10,000 cases. Wait until you see the other pic of a box I just got πŸ™‚ ).

  • Mike H says:

Darn…should have taken the stock number when I went for cleaning supplies today (My Dad’s visiting town in a week…need to spruce up my studio for ‘parental eyeing’ of my cleanliness habits).

Maybe I’ll check around tomorrow, but I was surprised to see that the Target I went to actually got new launchers, and ‘Movie Moments!’ I saw Shiny Wax and ReTread launchers, and the Fillmore/Whitewall McQueen two-pack for the first time. Of course, I had no need for either, but was just surprised on that front…still, the shelves were still clogged with tumbleweeds and Trunk Fresh Pitties.

  • 5oclockshadow says:

Hey are the $6.99 cars Mega-sized?

It would seem odd to have Kmart upc’s in Target system…

    and that 9.75% tax rate… ouch…

(MET: $6.99 Movie Moments, the Piston Cup racers were charged at the same price. But yes, taxation, ouch … I pay that …).

  • Micky says:

Went to two Targets today armed with DPI numbers. Both had one case each (in the stockroom). Asked at the service desk and at both stores a stock person brought out the box. I got Skip, Bubble Mater and Polly, one to open, one to save πŸ™‚

BTW, who’s Donna Pits? Her name is on the back of the card.

I have lots of questions today…are the DPI #’s for the new Story Teller line the same as the originals? If not, was there a post with the new DPI’s?

One more comment…is anyone else upset that the Final Lap Cars are $4.99? Why the price increase? πŸ™

(MET: Donna Pitts is Rust-eze Tent rusty CAR …).

  • iamspeed says:

Our nearest Target show “NO” to the “backroom” question on the scanner. Double checked at the front desk: Nothing.

    No other info available.

The girl at the service desk recommended calling with the DCPI on the days they get trucks and gave me the typical days for that store.

So, we’ll see if anything shows in the system later this week.

Must be nice to live near Targets that actually carry CARS items.

  • Piston Car Hunter says:

I called and asked for the Final Lap Cars by DPCI#. Only one of the stores had them, and my wife was able to go and pick up the new ones (Skip, Bubbles Mater, and Polly).

  • babychristiancars says:

    what an awesome haul.

  • Chris A says:

NCF means Non Carry Forward. Meaning “Clearance” because the item will not be on the next Planogram.

  • Nicole H says:

I called Target this morning and none in the Des Moines area have any final lap cars.

  • Mariela says:

No Cannonball Maters here, no Final Lap…no nothing!! Where did you get those rubber tires from??

  • Murpheeie says:

That LMQ was in Sligo, Ireland. My fault for not stating that in the email. All the others are reduced to €3.99 with only the McQueens showing the increase. Do Smyths know something we don’t?

(MET: I thought Sligo was some UK slang … πŸ™‚ Didn’t understand if it was a really bad word so I skipped it. πŸ™‚ ).

    • Murpheeie says:

Really! No it is just a city 5600Km away from the nearest Target!

    • MiaSenorita says:

This was by far my favorite part of the post. “guess they need the money? Good thing they used the small sticker…” I could have nearly died laughing… good thing there was no permanent damage.. or I may have to press charges!

Guess you should have bought it yesterday at 1/3 the price before we put the huge gigantic sticker on it. See, this is what you get for waiting to buy our products! We will taunt you and tease you so that you never wait again!!!

  • djbennett22 says:

136 bucks for 23 cars! wow

  • Bombero1956 says:

As far as I’m concerned ncf means Never Can Find. Visited all the Targets in my area and zilch. Yet somebody has found them in New Hampshire so if they’re coming from the westcoast and moving east then we’ve been skipped again!

    • jestrjef says:

Did you ask with the DCPI?? That is the key . . . thre is no floor location for them yet . . . and will not be until Oct. 11 . . . I would call each of them and see what they say!! πŸ™‚ They go back and BUY from the store that has them!!

      • Bombero1956 says:

I checked the DCPI at every store and they don’t have a thing. I even showed them a picture from this site with my IPhone and the kid just scratched his head and said they haven’t seen any in back, but they do have the Christmas lights up already. Of course our stores are so far behind technology wise that you’re forced to ask at the guest services desk and you can’t see what they’re looking at on the screen. While most stores have price check scanners with input buttons that allow you to check for items yourself our stores still have the old outdated scanners.

        • jestrjef says:

well, it is funny you said this . . . atthe first store I hit the GUN showed nothing, but the PDA Blackberry style scanner DID show them in the store . . . makes you wonder why one scanner said NO and the other YES . . .

    • Shelby says:

It IS strange. I’m the one who found them at a Target in southeastern New Hampshire but no other Target within a 100 mile radius seems to have them (no – I didn’t call them all but nobody else on the New England email list has found them!)

  • ahrenswi says:

Speaking of shopping lucky, I found a Rollin’ Bowlin’ Mater
at a small new toy store in the mall today. They only had a few
Cars items as they stocked mostly educational toys… $25.99!
I did have to purchase covertly as the wife just wouldn’t understand.

  • zachsmom says:

ooh, that makes me want to go check target again even though i was jsut there yesterday πŸ™‚

  • Strip Weathers says:

    nice cars!

  • jestrjef says:

    . . . . NCF . . . . hmmmm .. . .

    New Cars F#$%-up . . . .

    Need Cash Flow . ..

    No Car For-u . . .

    Need Credit-card Fast . . . .

  • jestrjef says:

WOW! KMART Cars mixed in with TRAGET . . .. now I need to go back out!! DARN IT!! πŸ˜†
