Walmart Opening & The New Toy Section of Toys, Chips & Sodas

Heather-Fiddlehead went to check out the new Walmart Opening … humm, crowds smaller than they expected …

WM Opening

Maybe the local high school marching band plus some cheerleaders instead of the local historical society?

WM Guns

Target wouldn’t put a bulleye on the building if they didn’t want you to shoot at it. If you can’t see it, just aim at anything.

I don’t care if you paved it over. We’ve been shooting at flying birds & commies in this field since 1922 and just because you put up a building – no way, no how is that gonna stop us from standing on this exact spot.

That wool is itchy plus I heard it might rain … besides, the ladies love a man in blue windbreaker – Members Only … if you know what I mean? Am I right? Am I right?

Okay, this round, try raising the gun a little more. I think we took out all the lights in gardening.

I think it started out as a 21-gun salute but exploding muskets, a few pulled groins and the wives made 3 of the guys go in to push a cart so we lost a few good men.

Where are the other 11 guys? I hope they’re not in the opposite parking lot firing at us – that would be embarrassing … again.

Today – broad sign of a barn target practice.

Hot dogs and popcorn for an opening? Forget that – Eat lead!

How many rounds is that? I can’t remember, were we supposed to be firing live rounds? Does anyone remember where we parked the Minivan?

I don’t think the guy who drove that white Expedition is going to be parking there anymore.

Why I remember when a man could bear arms and stand on a lawn and randomly fire into the air … now, we have to stay off the lawn, that is just wrong.

But what’s inside the store – besides just younger guys randomly firing guns (what? That’s not your WM? 🙂 ).

aisle toys

What could be more family night than chips, chips, sodas in giant 2-liter serving sizes, old school DVD’s and board games? Where’s the ammo, bleach and twinkies to round out ‘family night?’

Endcap soda

Yep, soda & chips in the toy section … Okay, everyone has family night dinner in front of you? You all have your bag of Doritos, and a giant 2-liter soda? Dig in! No dip – that’s fattening!

chips family

So, I guess WM is saying our attention span and memory retention is so weak that even if we wanted chips and giant 2-liters of soda, by the time we pushed the cart to another section of the store, we would forget?

chips family2

Ouch! is it just me or did someone just shoot a musket ball into my a** …..

  • That’s in the same aisle as Cars at my local Walmart.

  • Rob says:

This time of year when I was a kid, my cousin and I couldn’t wait to go to the local discount stores to see their latest toy gun models. Cap guns were our favorite toy guns, and we rarely even shot them with caps in them. We just used them to pretend.

  • iamspeed says:

Has anyone given credit to Kroger stores for THEIR Cars pricing?

$4.99 for Mini Adventures pairs, $6.49 for Megas? I saw Frank at our nearest Kroger just the other day!

  • LiamsMom says:

Sadly, chips and pop sounds like a delicious dinner to me. On a cars note: is the Wal-mart re-set supposed to be done or is it still to come in some stores? My store changed things about a month ago, but the cars set-up right now has no room for MTT.

  • PirateDad says:

The 8 gun salute reminds me of that Seseme Street song, “One of these things is not like the others, one of these things just does not belong”

  • Mr. T says:

Anyone seen anything at Kmart for MTT yet?? Pegs are there but still empty…..

  • djbennett22 says:

scored a jerry recycled and rescue scuad ambulance today! they had so many new cars i was sooo exited they even moved where they put cars stuff at but theres less space and there all crammed together

  • hostile takeover banker says:

way to go Walmart! keep encouraging childhood obesity, tooth decay and juvenile diabetes.

  • racerguy says:

My Walmart has had the food there (in toys) for weeks. No good Cars though. And the Mother’s Animal Crackers bag was honestly, literally, and truthfully 3/4 empty. Inflation! 🙁

  • iamspeed says:

I do think it’s a little disrespectful to, even in this forum, poke fun at men who served this country(such as these men who, I assume, represent the VFW) and defended it many years ago, yet have the pride and respect for this country to show up on what appears to be a cold, damp morning to fulfill the wishes of WM to have those men present at their event. I’m sorry if this gets off-topic, but my father served with pride in the US Navy, and my father-in-law was an Army officer and for many years served in the National Guard….the men in that photo represent both of these men, neither of which is with us any longer.

(MET: They are not wearing official military uniforms).

    • MackDaddy says:

Ouch! is it just me or did someone just shoot a musket ball into my a**…. 😯

    • iamspeed says:

They ARE typical of the dress uniforms worn by those groups for public events, very seldom their “official” military uniforms from their service days, as they all served at various periods in time….check out what’s on those pins on their caps and you’ll see a lot of military history. We have a memorial not more than 15 minutes from us where each and every day, at the same time of day, a veteran, in full military dress, walks the entire memorial, salutes the US flag, and stands at attention……all by himself. It’s a beautiful thing to watch.

(MET: This photo is NONE of the things you are describing).

      • iamspeed says:

Did you ever experience a 21 gun salute at the funeral of a relative who served in the Armed Forces? I have…my cousin’s father. These guys take it very seriously……let’s not mock them.

(MET: I’m not sure you’re looking at the right post. Clearly there is no American flag … and no other flag bearer).

        • Nicole H says:

I have so I know where you are coming from. But, being prior military and my husband still in, I did giggle just a little.

        • iamspeed says:

Not from the right post, huh?

Scroll up, you might see this as one of the lines:

“I think it started out as a 21-gun salute but exploding muskets, a few pulled groins and the wives made 3 of the guys go in to push a cart so we lost a few good men.”

What does that have to do with Walmart’s toy dept? Sounds more like making fun of old men who still serve their country in other ways.

(MET: EXACTLY to the first part – well, it is 11 old guys but beyond that – not everyone who is old and wearing a costume is ex-military – it’s a gathering of 10-guys with rifles of some kind at a Walmart parking lot that is hard to tell if it’s even sanctioned by WM – don’t even see an audience or any WM signage welcoming the local BB gun club).

  • iamspeed says:

That last shot shows the blurred vision that’s a result of too many chips and too much Pepsi in conjunction with watching Kanye West interrupting Taylor Swift!

  • PirateDad says:

Movie Night or Family Game night anyone??

  • jestrjef says:

    Well . . . what about the Cars . . . . was there anything GOOD??? 🙂

(MET: Do you need 24 lenticular McQueen’s? Only some with bent cards?)

    • Jack says:

Well Someone recently told me bent corners could still be sold as new in package. LOL
otherwise it would be mint. Some Ebay seller Huh?

      • Aaron & Jeanne Scriven says:

really jack? wow that stinks? I haven’t ever had any problems on ebay all the sellers that have described their cars as new have never had bent corners! i would be PISSED if someone told me it was brand new and it ended up with bent corners especially if it looked like that before they shipped. if it happend during shipment and i knew it did then i would just ask for a partial refund on shipping. BUT i do have to say all the ones that people have shipped to me in a box never had that problem.. its the ones that ship in the padded envelopes that you have to watch out for 🙂 I’m glad that none of my t5 buddies do envelopes! 🙂

      • John in Missouri says:

        Was it described as “Mint”?

  • iamspeed says:

This is Walmart’s attempt to promote “Family Fun Night” and I’ll give them credit for that.

Maybe the whole family will sit down and watch CARS while eating chips and pop and opening their latest CARS finds from WM?

  • MackDaddy says:

I’d like to be the First to rummage through the Cars isle!
