Mattel Disney Pixar Diecast CARS: Kevin R. Apple Mac iCar Customs – It’s ALIVE!

A few weeks ago, there was a crowd text to meet by the headless Donovan McNabb …

army2

What up, Shifty? No, I asked you first!

Then it got kooky … this crazy neighborhood, somebody stole my wheels!

Wheels Off

That’s nothing, they stole my frame!

Primed

Repeat after me.

I am re-calcified, re-classified and better.

They can rebuild me and install a whole new OS.

I am Mac iCar.

We are ready to re-boot.

We were not loved as Shifty Drug.

I sent an email, hoping to have a couple of these here.

  • NorCalRik says:

Can’t wait til that next sign up sheet.

  • NorCalRik says:

    Awesome, Totally Awesome.

  • christine says:

wish I had known about it first time around… will definitely buy one second time around. awesome work!

  • MiaSenorita says:

I can’t wait! They are looking good – my token Nitroade now blends with the rest – beautiful iCars πŸ™‚

  • jedijson says:

    I’ll order 2 in round 2!

  • carscrazydd says:

kevin r., count me in – I’ll send you an e-mail requesting to be put on the list. It looks like you do good work and I appreciate what you and other customizers do to bring us these cars. Some of us can’t pay out the big bucks to get promo’s from over-seas, so your work definitely helps.

I’ve only been a take5er for a short time and this is my first reply post.
While I remain optimistic and hopeful that Disney/Mattel will continue to release the carded singles at K-mart days, it will probably be several years before we see all of them. Promo’s, 2-packs, 3-packs, etc. have to run their course. I am collecting 5 sets of the single carded racers out so far, 1 each to be a gift to kids/grand-kids, so I have quite an interest in them continuing be released. Those sets I have time to wait out, but as for my set – enter im-patience.

I see thru the reply posts there are alot of good people commenting on issues and concerns. I don’t think the previous post was meant so much to get you to stop customizing, but the fake thing didn’t go over well. Your cars look better than the mass-produced ones from the land of “we can’t put stickers on straight or not chip cars”. I feel if somebody can do it better than the factory, fake doesn’t apply!

    Thanks for reading.

    • kevin roche says:

thanks, the funny thing is, these were never meant to be a rip off or a fooled the buyer deal, kevin saw a pic of my apple custom, posted it on this site and everyone asked if they can get one, so i decided to put up an order form and it was filled in less than 2 hours.. they all knew what they were getting and they all sent cars for me to customize..dont see the fake or deception in that..some people have nothing better to do than to stir it up..no harm no foul..im cool and not upset at all..

  • Nascarfan says:

Mattel Wont stop this guy nor any other Customizer.

    Why?

1.They do NOT represent them as ACTUAL authentic Mattel items.

    2. They bought the base car legally to create “works of art” and the can do with them, what they wish, including smashing them with a hammer etc etc etc.

doc n sheriff are “fake people” bitching about works of art and telling you you shouldnt make them? You dont represent them as AUTHENTIC.

and when they can post their “real names” they shouldnt open their mouths.

    what losers…

  • Bob Eckel/TheeNaughty Knight says:

Which is also why I make and sell the Apple Macintosh 84 (black and white) with rubber tire!

  • lost says:

I would like to comment that the headless football figure may have, at one time been Donovan McNabb. but it looks to me that it is now a headless, retired player John Lynch in his Tampa Bay Buccaneers uniform.

  • BMW says:

Ebay shows only one REAL Apple car from the Speedway Set for sale as of now. All the rest are customs or factory seconds, back door examples.

The original genuine Apples are indeed getting impossible to find for sale. There are collectors like myself who have the original SOTS that will not part out the set, unlike many speculators who bought the MSOTS directly from the RedLine Club May of 08, had done in the past year.

Mattel stated exclusives to the set, and should stick to their advertised statement. So don’t expect to see it return from the factory.

The customs are the best way to get an IMac Apple Car example as PD stated.

Even the display box itself is worth almost what collectors paid for the entire set in May 08. In the future, I see the display box becoming worth more than the set was originally.

You can’t recreate the display box.

  • doc&sheriff says:

    hi
i understand the 5 a day cars and would love one.
but why are you making these fakes?
why is mattel not sueing you and dont you have copyright laws?
you are taking a common mattel car and making it into a fake version of a very limited mattel car.
if i were you i would stick to making cars that are not out yet or you could be impounded!!!
    just a thought.

    • PirateDad says:

Dude, chill! Mattel feels that as long as they are not representing them as Legit Cars, this is artistry and Fan Art! He is making them for people who are not fortunate enough to have one of the only 1000 REAL ones available!

Most collectors wood like a REAL but will settle for a copy just to fill in that hole on Race Day!!

Chances are that the iCar might not make a reappearance, sadly, so this might be the only way to Git R Dun!!!

      • kevin roche says:

        thanks pirate..

and just for him i will explain the cost of these things.

after decal paper, paint, decal bonding agents, screws and my time–by the way, it takes about 20 hours to make these correctly, —

you cut out 40 small head lights the size of an eraser on a small pencil.

im practicly giving these away. the cost is 30, minus 5 if you supply a car.. and i now have the flat rate cost for shipping, of 4.95 for priority mail..

AND FYI IF MATTLEL WANTED ME TO STOP THEY WOULD HAVE GOTTEN AHOLD OF ME BY NOW, THESE ARE FOR THOSE OF US WHO CANT SPEND 100 PLUS DOLLARS ON THE CAR..

    • kevin roche says:

hey kevin, i think this is the guy that turned you in..

    • kevin roche says:

I AM ALSO GIVING ONE OF THESE CARS TO MET FOR THE CARS CARES PROGRAM..

    • AlbertHinkey says:

Just a thought that your thought is friggin idiotic….

  • LoolarMcQueen says:

Count me in for a round two! This and Sidewall Shine seem to be racers I will never see… holding out that Gask-Its will become more widely available, and that Tach O Mint is forthcoming, because these are the only four we need to complete our racer set!

  • Matersgrlfriend says:

I like how Tach O’ Mint is overseeing the operations, Candyman, indeed!

  • Rich says:

Ok, who’s email am I sending money to through Pay Pal for one.
I only need one for my daughter, I mean me.

Seriously though, I will send the money for one.
And can someone please reply to me, I don’t car who it is.
    Thanks,
    Rich

  • chuki_mama says:

Is the Apple logo and number 84 a stencil or a print?

  • John in Missouri says:

Steve Jobs and Company are just shaking their heads at all of this!

  • Aaron and Jeanne from Joplin Missouri says:

yay! i cant wait to get mine! thanks kevin!! πŸ˜€

  • John in Missouri says:

How much do you charge for these, and is there a limit to what you’ll make for one customer?

  • Daniel says:

Well count me in for round 2!!!

  • Mike H says:

OMG!! I was wondering the same thing, how to obtain or purchase a custom.

I’d only do so since it seems we will most likely never see the iCar. Plus, given the quality of the customs some people have, I wouldn’t mind one.

During the KMART days, I almost thought of picking up a rubber-wheeled Shift Drug, and seeing if anyone could customise it to make an iCar with rubber tires.

(MET: You know if you visit our site everyday at least 5 times as our title requires of you … you would not have missed out πŸ™‚ See what happens when you are not on the internet?).

    • jestrjef says:

I believe these are all spoken for. He put a post up a couple weeks back for a limit of the first so many take 5 er’s. Maybe he wll do a second round?!?!

      • kevin roche says:

due to the high demand..it looks like i will do another..

BUT LETS WAIT UNTIL EVERYONE HAS THEIR APPLES FROM THIS ORDER AND EVERYONE IS HAPPY..

IF ALL GOES WELL WITH THE FEEDBACKS AND ALL IS HAPPY-

        I WILL GO AGAIN..

so, hold off a few, and lets see what happens, and i will make sure everyone has a shot..

these will be limited again and may be the last for a while.. stay tuned and thanks for the interest and coments..

  • Shelby says:

I love that – “row 4, who said you could look”. LMBO – Ha Ha Ha!!! I actually laughed out loud!

  • Edge says:

Are these available for trade/sale? If so, how much are they?

    • Bob Eckel/TheeNaughty Knight says:

I have been told that a “guy who does the Take5 customs only charges $25”,(to include shipping, as $25.00 was the total amount mentioned). So I don’t really see this guy charging Take 5 customers any MORE than that. I hope this information helps you as it did me.

    • PirateDad says:

Edge, I am getting some stuff from N8..Nathaniel, you want me to add one to the list for you?
