Mattel Disney Pixar Diecast CARS: Some CARS in the UK & International Case Assortment

Well, the CARS situation in in the UK & Europe could be better but at least it’s not Dickensian …

“Rippers” sends us nice photos and a boatload of info – thanks!

Story Tellers have arrived at Tesco at £3.97 each – about the same pricing in the US …I believe an exclusive also – at Tesco in the UK, not sure about the rest of Europe. These appear to be all in English so UK only?

storytellers

There’s no shots of the international release inside flap. I’m presuming Retro Ramone will be  released in the next case – how about Tractor? Is he shown on the inside flap? If so, then it’s exactly the same as the US single releases. Though Tractor is being “retired” as a single in the next US wave of the Storytellers. US release info for Storytellers NEXT is here.

Rippers also reports that Case D Launchers (international backs) are also in Tesco:

shiny-wax-retread
Case C Launchers can be had at Debenhams and the Disney Store is up to Case E on the singles and has Elvis as well!

Rippers notes, “So its been an expensive couple of weeks in the UK!”

He has also been kind enough to list EVERY International ROR release – click on link for Photos.

The Storytellers from Tesco appear to be identical to the US ones, so I am not sure if we can call these International. Only in one language! That probably means if any of the US collectors are missing some they would be able to trade for these.

  • jools37 says:

just bought sponserless mcqueen story teller from tesco ,inside the packaging the picture of sponsorless mcqueen is actually swell smell mcqueen(mistake)

    • cars-in-your-eyes says:

I think it is the writing that is incorrect as the pictures seem to be all the other cars that are in the series except the one whose packaging it is. Was this the same for the Sponsorless McQ in the US?

  • jammywin says:

    • Jon says:

      Hello, I’m in Sevenoaks, Kent.

The Tesco in the highstreet is still on WOC singles. They had 2 clip strips in today, the newest Cars on it being Stacy, Kathy Copter and Al Oft blimp. They were all USA boxes, not international ones. The Tractor Tipping set and Red’s fire station were on offer. They did not have Storytellers, haulers or launchers.

Disney shops in Tunbridge Wells and Croydon have both now closed down – apparently 1 in 3 Disney stores are now being closed down / already gone!

Asda in Swanley and King’s Hill have ROR singles, but they only have Mcqueens – standard, Impound, Dinoco, Bug-mouth etc

Fenwicks in Tunbridge Wells has ROR singles (case B I think) at £3.50 and ROR movie moments at £4.50 – interesting to note that the ROR Mcqueen / Kori has Mcqueen with the Rusteze sticker on its spoiler, but the WOC version has the blank spoiler.

I have never seen Oversized / Megasized or 3-packs over here anywhere, ever!

Only ever seen haulers in Tesco, they had Mack, Gray, and Chick’s. They all sold very fast then they never had any again.

Hope this helps people out – let us know what you find and where eaxctly you find it!

      Jon

  • cars-in-your-eyes says:

The UK Disney Store seems to doing its own importing as all the megasize singles they are currently stocking are the US version and not an international version. When the first lot came out earlier this year they were international and had the picture and not the writing on the name plate on the front. All the current ones have the writing on it and it appears to be case E (I think)and has the race code info on the back. The 2 I visited today both got 5 cases in this morning.

  • Ace Diamondrunner says:

I’ve never seen Wedding Day Ramone before…very neat.

  • Gary UK says:

Also for UKers Haulers can also be found here in John Lewis

  • Gary UK says:

Well i am yet to see Case E at disney store yet, They have been on offer at £2.50 a single so all that is left on the shelves is………….

    You’ll never guess…….

    Yes more mcqueens!!!!!!

  • rumbler74 says:

I would sure like to see a picture of the so called variant Mario Andretti with “yellow” wheels. The normal one released in the U.S. of course was the one with “brown” wheels and then later on with the short cards with the correct “red” wheels. Are we sure this so called “yellow” is really not the “brown”? After all, it is a light mustard brown so it can be mistaken for yellow.

    • cars-in-your-eyes says:

They are the mustard coloured wheels, and these were only available in the early Case A singles, through the Disney Store. The ones appearing in the current case A are red wheels, but they are pretty hard to find, unlike Impound Mcqueen which is warming the pegs in some stores!

  • unimog says:

The picture shows brand new Mater WITHOUT a hood. The glare on the diecast makes it difficult to verify. Is brand new Mater missing a hood now?

  • Roswell says:

yeah i saw these today in tesco,
they had both retro ramone and tractor on the inside but i couldnt see either on the shelf,
would have bought my nephew a few tractors for his collection so he can play tractor tipping,

going to a big city for the weekend and they have a disney store and a few big department stores, so fingers crossed i find something i want!

just wish they didnt close down the lego store 🙁

  • collectormom says:

I currently can’t find our Sponsorless LMQ; we’re moving next week so yikes!

  • BMW says:

So the international cases contain exactly the same chase cars as the USA cases. Seems so strange that UK gets these and not Canada. Are there more collectors in the UK than in Canada?

    • Daniel says:

One of the problems with Canada is that packaging needs to (typically) be English/French because of the province I live in -Quebec. Strict language regulations here prohibit anything being sold in Quebec if it does not have bilingual packaging. Believe me, we even have “language police”.

Sometimes, stuff like the unilingual WM exclusives are sold in the rest of Canada, but not here. Most of the time, the rest of the country suffers because of us.

Why Mattel does not make a multi-linugal package for everyone, I will never understand. Maybe because it would make sense?

  • cac1959 says:

I like the International cardback Cars; I’ve traded for several and have several more pending. Doesn’t the name Cera Brillante sound awesome?

I’m glad to see these are coming to the UK… it would be great if our friends in Canada and Australia could get new Cars too…

Thanks for sharing your photos, Rippers.

  • John in Missouri says:

I like how Shiny Wax gets a translation, but Retread doesn’t.

    • rumbler74 says:

Shiny Wax’s translation is in Spanish only. Typically they add at least the French translation as well so that is odd.

      Retread translation in Spanish= Recauchutar
