Well, it’s official …
Definitely a nationwide thing. The word was sent out last night but I’m sure some stores are slower to put out the sign.
So, while CARS sales were not really affected by price but more by stock selection or in many cases – NO selection, it’s still nice to get some deflation going on 🙂
Of course, at my WM, it is June 2008 in more ways than one …
I have been saving ton’s o’money at this WM to begin with and I am saving even more now 🙁 …
So thanks for the cost savings on CARS, it’s an extra can of potted meat I can buy or that iPod Touch for the right pocket of my backseat on the Bentley … I grow so weary of having to reach across …
So, thanks for the price drop WM, ‘ppreciate it … now about that stocking thing …
At Target, the Easter Eggs CARS have not arisen …

I found the Easter Eggs at a NorCal Target. I was only able to get one set as the other cards were pretty bent.
Another one of the WM here in Des Moines is at the $2.97-of course about 5 cars on the pegs. Ton of oversized and 3 cases of the Wally Hauler case. So I did grab all 3 of the Leak Less and Jerry’s. Will have up on trading post soon. Target was still at regular price and of course they had nothing either. But I did get 2 each of Sparemint and Shiny Wax crew chiefs.
My Target has discontinued the Haulers…I’m not sure if all of them will or not, but ours are gone, no shelf listing and it comes up in the system as discontinued. ):
(MET: I think it’s just an accounting-inventory thing. They will just re-add it later).
Hi, I am from the des moines are too but can’t find Jerry etc. do you know when Walmart puts out newer cars/haulers etc? i only collect for my son so i don’t buy a lot but try to buy all of them that he doesn’t have. can you help me. I live a ways from des moines but i work up here so i try to run to the stores but such a waste of gas.

hey, it really seems like the cars thing is dying, every place i go has the same–nothing, whats up, is it because of the economy or are they slowing it down, whats going on, no new cars, no launchers, no promos THAT ARE REAL at this time..i hope the kmart collectors day 2 is still going to happen, any insight will be helpful
Being that the economy has receded so much in the last 6 months, I think that retailers in general have instructed their stores to be very careful with their backroom Inventory levels. Inventory sitting in the backroom is wasted dollars as far as the company is concerned. In a perfect world, stock would come in and it all would go out on the shelf leaving nothing in the backroom. The less money the company has sitting in the backroom, the more money they have to spend on something else. It is a very fine line.
I used to work for a company with Perpetual Inventory (computer generated ordering) and I know that they can tweak the ordering system to either order another case when 60% has sold or leave it until 90% has sold through. To the retailer 90 units sitting on the pegs is still 5 cases regardless if they are all Mcqueens. It is the department managers job to phone the Mattel rep to come in and remove the Mcqueens and either give credit or replace with different stock.
Most department managers get moved around the store to different departments, so to find one that really cares is hard to come by. This is only a small part of the problem, there are so many other variables to consider which affect what eventually shows up on the pegs.
I know if it was one of us the Cars section would look great every day because we would spend so much time making it perfect. The rest of the toy section might not look the same lol!!!
OK I just check my receipt and the SKU is 087071795 and the Item name is CARS MINI. I also noticed the cashier only charge me for 13 eggs but I have a total of 14.

Someone on Carsthetoys posted the dcpi # for the Target Easter Eggs. Apparently they come up as “Cars Minis” in the stock checker.

I don’t have them in front of me at the moment but I did look at the DPCI number when they scanned and I think that’s correct. They do list as minis at $5.99 though – and I’m not sure how they are packed in the case but some of the cardbacks were in very poor condition at this Target.
Yeah, the little “tag” on the shelf said Car Mini’s as well. I double and triple checked the rest of the tags and saw nothing else saying Cars..so I’d say someone did a “oopsie” and it’s just how they are marked this year.
That’s definitely the right UPCI saw them today sadly all crew chiefs were gone 🙁

Thanks for thinking of me! This is where I live, but I was not in the area during the explosion. Thank goodness! I think so far they have not found anyone with injuries, etc. But they haven’t stopped teh gas leak causing the fire/explosion so they haven’t been able to investigate further.
Yeah the two WMs that I hit both had the rollback prices but had a total of 3 cars between the two sites. Good stuff WM.

They had the easter eggs at one of my target’s this morning. But of course all the Sparemints were gone!!!

Just curious but where are these located in the store.
My Target is setting up in the furthest corner away from the front entrance. The next closest Target usually has their Holiday stuff near the greeting cards (where mine keeps all the Toiletries, etc.).

Ha. I have seen different layouts, but these were by all the lawn/patio furniture. Like that will sell in Oregon in MARCH!! Give us some umbrellas!!!!!!!!!!!!

I may need to run to our Target when the snow dies down. We are in a complete white out, 2nd day now. But a few days ago they had a few things up for easter and all the price tags. I found one that said Cars mini… I am assuming it is the easter eggs? Or is there minis for Easter too??
(MET: Someone mentioned the tag said MINI’s but that is a mistake, these are 1:55’s. I do not believe there are also Mini’s but hey, who knows? 🙂 Are you saying it occasionally snows there in winter?).

Just got back from Target and they stocked the Easter Egg cars overnight – I’ll post an extra set on the trading forum for anyone looking
I found the Easter Egg cars at the Target in Battle Creek, MI yesterday. My son was super excited and carried them happily around Target. He was even more excited, when he learned he did not have to wait until Easter to open the eggs!

I just saw that too, that Target jacked the price up…weren’t they 8.99 or something? Like you said, that sure will “move” them…but I hate to say once our Target gets those darn launchers in I would sadly buy them even if they were 16 dollars! lol I guess I want my kids to have every single one regardless.
