Mattel Disney Pixar Diecast CARS: The Holiday-Christmas CARS of 2009

Yea, it’s a little bit early to think about holiday-winter-Christmas 2009 but since it’s still wintery in most parts of the country and of course, only 338 days left 🙂

Besides, you want to know to budget 90% of the gift giving season money towards yourself and 10% for others (whoops, did I say that out loud?) … I meant 90% for charity (and charity begins at home, right? 🙂 )…

There was a story they were going to do a TV Christmas special but at the time, Disney wasn’t fully committed to Pixar & CARS yet so the idea withered away but the artwork and some of the CARS diecast were done. As noted in one of our earlier posts, the real Holiday-Christmas diecast CARS were definitely on the schedule for late 2009 and maybe by Autumn 2009, we would get to see some of the CARS.

But somewhere in Disney publishing, they found the artwork for the Holiday CARS special and put them in the UK/Europe CARS magazine as Holiday-Christmas CARS trading cards …

Thanks to eagle-eyed Jonathan S. who spotted them in his UK CARS Magazine and sent me a scan …

So, in case you want an illustrated sneak peek at the CARS we’ll be getting in the Holiday CARS lineup … (unless you want to be surprised, then avert your eyes! 🙂 )

In alpha order:

Frosty Mia & Tia

frosty-mia-tia1
(aka: Gold Mia & Tia with snow 🙂 but I’m in).

Holiday Lightning McQueen

holiday-mcqueen
(aka: Sponsorless McQueen with green lightning bolt & whitewalls … okay, I’m in – do you sense a pattern here).

Icy Dan Sclarkenberger

You had him #1 on your Holiday CARS list, right? He is coming out as a regular car sometime in autumn or early next year … not sure if he’ll actually make it out as a Holiday CAR but stranger things have happened.

Reindeer Mater

I will eat Icy Dan Sclarkenberger if this CAR sits on the shelf for longer than 2-minutes … something tells me the Holiday CARS series is going to need a Megasize blister for this CAR if Mater gets the giant 4-wheel drive winter tires …

Rockin’ Ramone

rockin-ramone
No Rockin’ Flo …

Santa Doc

Nice!

Snowflake Sally

Be nice if it were real cloth earmuffs and not the reuse of the green broccoli on Tumbleweed McQueen’s head … Nice body pinstriping!

Snowy Wingo

snowy-wingo
Should be nice …

Winter Lightning McQueen

Another Megasize blister? Can’t wait.

The trading cards in their entirety …

Since there’s no hint of an actual animated TV special and they’ve would’ve had to have started a year ago, you can decide on their canonnocity (I’m pretty sure I just made up that word 🙂 ). Though it seems likely they will issue some book to go with these like the Storytellers … so if John Lasseter writes the foreword and blesses this project, are you in then? Or will you chain yourself to just the original townies?

I’m not only in but I’ll be buying 9 Reindeer Maters.

Thanks again for spotting the “unintentional spy leaks,” Jonathon S. and thanks for the scans!
