I am 36 years old, born and raised in Amsterdam, The Netherlands, but I have been living in Montreal, Canada for the past seven years. I’m married and I have two step-daughters. I would like to use the excuse that I’m collecting for them, but they’re 18 and 21 and FAR removed from being interested in collecting toy cars. I work for IBM Canada as a Technical Support Engineer.

I started collecting right after the movie was released.

Lightning McQueen, Chick Hicks, Wingo
HOW LONG BEFORE YOU HAD CAR #2?
A couple of weeks later, I found Leak Less, Nitroade and The King.
WHEN DID YOU DECIDE/REALIZE YOU NEEDED MORE THAN ONE?
Some time after I bought the three cars I mentioned above, I found the RPM car; I decided at that point to collect the racers and the tuners. I am a big race fan (anything except bikes and drag racing) and I had been collecting model cars since 1989 (NASCAR, F1, Indycar), so I thought this would be a fun addition. Little did I know that the ‘fun’ would turn into a full-blown addiction!
WHEN DID YOU REALIZE YOU HAD TO GO BIG INTO THIS THING?
After deciding to collect the racers and the tuners, I ended up buying the remaining cars of Wave 1 and Wave 1.5 in one shot because at the time, I was working right on top of a Zellers (Canadian Target wannabe), which I would visit on lunch breaks sometimes, and they had put them on sale. Then I found the TakeFive website (TakeTwo at the time) and the rest, as they say, is history.
WHAT WAS THE CRAZIEST THING YOU’VE HEARD ABOUT COLLECTING THESE CARS? (NEVER YOU, SOME OTHER PERSON’S CRAZY STORY 🙂 ).
Reading about all the shenanigans at the SD Comic-con was pretty crazy; plus the price that people are willing to pay on Ebay for the MSOS set (or parts of it). Sometimes you’d think you’re dealing with something far more sinister than simple toy cars! Speaking of sinister, I had a pretty crazy experience crossing the US border for the K-Mart day back in October, but since this can’t be about me, PirateDad can tell that story… 🙂

A nice, purpose-built case so I can display them properly! As for cars, the Octane Gain hauler and the Motorama girls.

Hiya. i’m alice and i have a Cars collecting habit. I’m 34. I work for Disney Animation. Besides collecting Cars, I’m also into select Mighty Muggs. I used to be big into collecting comic books, action figures and all Wolverine figures, but now it seems that Cars has taken over my collecting habit. I’m a child of the 80’s, so GI Joe and Transformers also hold a special place in my heart. ah toys… so many to get, so little space to display them all. I’d love to hear how everyone displays their collections. Any suggestions people?

I started as soon as I saw the movie, and found my first cars toy.

I would guess Lightning McQueen (ka-chow!) but I really can’t remember. No. Wait. Maybe it was the Guido/Luigi 2-pack. Because I just loved Guido so much. (pit stop!) yeah. I would guess Guido. Wait. maybe it was the mcDonalds Cars toys. yeah. it was probably them.

as soon as i saw more of them.

hmm… everytime I went to the store and saw more. I think when I saw them coming out with the obscure ones- like the Monsters Inc. and Toy Story ones- I was like “oh boy… here we go…”

The craziest thing I’ve seen is people dropping hundreds, if not thousands of dollars for the exclusive sets and super-rare cars. I’m almost glad I don’t have that kind of money. then again….

hmm… right now i like the impound chase cars. and i also like the night-vision lightning mcqueen. but it always changes with the flow of what’s coming.
a month ago it was the Marco plane. (i miraculously found him at Kmart) Right now, it’s Dustin Mellows and the other oversized Cars. I can’t find them ANYWHERE!?!! help!!!

I am 15 years old and go to high school in Massachusetts. I am a good friend of PDAS1996 and also love to paint cars in MS Paint. Seeing as how I am under 18, I have included some of my artwork in MS Paint in this message.
