In real Nascar there is a thing called Start n Park. They might be there.

Start n park refers to those teams that do not have the funds to finance pitcrews, but do have sponsors to answer too.

This was a topic when they first came out.

Thank You, NascarFan … that makes sense then — but I take it there is no "canonical" explanation as to the difference in car counts?

Can we assume Smell Swell might be one of these teams then?  Texas Tea? Interesting to speculate, hmm …

After all, gas can is my middle name … eh, not really

Texas Tea is a fictional character made up by Met to see who was copying and pasting lists for ebay auctions. IT was made a reality by a few of us one year for a Christmas present to Met.

I think Chick's artwork is the one to study then, to see what sponsors are not already available in the general population, to give an idea of who the seven "start and park" racers might be.

Do all seven then as a set, looking forlorn and sad because while they finally made it to the MSOS, they can't actually race.

Hey dudes!  Just a heads that we have a set at home…

We opened it to make sure all was intact and healthy.  Bought it from Hot Wheels. The # escapes me, but I did buy another letter and hologram with no.088.  Ours from the factory was something like 965… We live in Canada and I think we were last on the ship list…

I am glad you opened it.  just keep it in the box to keep it's value.

** The most interesting point that was made when we discussed the extra seven cars that were missing at the starting line, was that big corps. would have a second car (either of the same team or another sub-sponsored team) and they would keep them out of the race on a mechanical issue or something. Since that car would be placed on pit row IN FRONT of the TOP car they have on that sponsor's team, by removing it allows for a quicker escape back onto the track from the pitts. (Essentially there is an open parking space in front of them…)
